Update: Candy Kisses was adopted on May 24th!

A Nevada SPCA volunteer witnessed this girl being struck by a car on a busy road.

Her physical wounds have healed now. But what we discovered is that her emotional injuries from extremely severe abuse run much deeper.

Medicine and bandages and casts cannot mend her broken heart and crushed spirit. But tender loving care is already making a bit of a difference, and a tiny spark of hope is emerging in her eyes.

Exceptionally gentle, despite overwhelming terror with new people and new situations, we named her Candy Kisses.

Candy Kisses is a Mastiff mix, about 3 years of age. She is now spayed and ready for adoption to continue her progress in a loving, calm home.

Too shy to walk on a leash, we carry her from room to room, from her kennel to the play yard. Rather than stretch her legs, she would rather find someone with a soft voice and curl up beside them for reassurances.

There are no instant fixes for Candy Kisses. But as she continues to see the better side of human nature, and builds her own self-esteem and confidence, she will bloom magnificently.
