Raven has a beautiful spirit and a wonderfully pleasant personality and she is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She is a German Shepherd, about 6 years of age, spayed girl. We rescued Raven from another shelter.  She had a fatty tumor on her hip and she was severely underweight.  Her tumor has now been removed and she is slowly and steadily regaining weight. German Shepherd knowledge is preferred for Raven's adoption.

Snoopy, a 4-pound puppy who survived being struck by a car.

Image
Triumphant little Snoopy , a baby boy, is ready to share his unconditional love and entertaining personality with someone very special. Thanks to extensive medical care and therapy, very generously paid for by a Nevada SPCA supporter, he has recovered from being struck by a car, which resulted in both legs on his left side being "de-gloved" (stripped of skin). Snoopy's therapy at an advanced care veterinary hospital included weeks of hospitalization for daily re-wraps of his bandages and water therapy to help wash away dead skin cells. Snoopy is a Chihuahua puppy, now 3 months of age and neutered, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is wiggly and energetic, and sports the confidence of a lion. Please ask for Snoopy by name.

Melody's amazing recovery & survival from an attempted beheading.

Image
We are so proud of this baby girl, who we named Melody , and the foster mom who heroically helped save her.    Melody delights in crawling up on your chest and nuzzling your face gently.  She is a sleek shorthair, now 5 months of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    At the time of rescue, we thought someone had tried to behead her, as she had an enormous open wound around her entire neck.  She had a tight rubber band around her neck -- cruelty her veterinarian said was one of the worst he had ever seen.  After we had the rubber band carefully and entirely removed at a veterinary hospital, Marcia , who was Melody’s foster mom, kept warm compresses on her neck and cleaned the wound twice daily.  Now, the blue stitches you see in the picture are Melody’s stitches from having the wound closed up.  She is healing beautifully and ready for a bright, loving future with someone who will cherish her every day and kee...

Thor's triumphant recovery!

Image
Thor would like nothing more than to shower your face with puppy kisses!  Like Noel posted yesterday, we rescued him shortly before Christmas to save him from the deadly parvo virus when his previous owner could not afford medical care.  Using holiday donations, we had extensive medical care provided for Thor and he made a full recovery.  Thor valiantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Chihuahua puppy, neutered boy, 5 months of age, super sweet and affectionate.

Cheeto, a baby boy who made a beautiful recovery.

Image
Cheeto's survival and full recovery from the deadly parvo virus is one of the Christmas miracles we are appreciating this season.  He is a dignified baby boy, rust red Chihuahua, 7 months of age, neutered, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He was very sick at the time of rescue, but we had extensive medical care provided for him and he pulled through with flying colors.  The ordeal now over, Cheeto is beginning to become more light-hearted and puppy-like again, enjoying life.

Lionheart's Triumph!!

Image
Lionheart, picture 1 - upon full recovery Lionheart, picture 2 - upon full recovery Lionheart, picture 3 - after rescue, at veterinary hospital Lionheart, picture 4 - after rescue, at veterinary hospital We were elated when this angel had the light back in his eyes, when he could hold up his head on his own, and when his tail began to wag.  The victim of extreme starvation, at the time of rescue his life was in imminent peril.  After a week of emergency hospitalization care and fluids, and months of subsequent recovery at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org), the boy we named Lionheart nearly tripled his weight and bloomed into a social, cheerful boy full of joy and curiosity.  Lionheart is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, neutered, 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today.  CAUTION : His "before" pictures are very disturbing.  But we want to share Lionheart's success with you and ask for your help in finding him a loving, forever home.

Lullaby wants to know what a loving home feels like.

Image
Lullaby's beautifully expressive eyes reveal a young girl who is tender-hearted and sensitive, yearning to be loved for her own worth, not for her commercial value as a breeding machine.  She is a pretty Chihuahua, spayed, 2 years of age, good with people and dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Lullaby is incredibly fortunate to be alive.  Her previous owner bred her for puppies, but could not afford the emergency medical care she desperately needed when one of her babies got stuck during the birthing process.  We rescued her and rushed her into a veterinary hospital for an emergency Caesarean section, and 4 of her 5 babies survived and remain in foster care.

Cuddle Bear is a baby boy who is ready to share his unconditional love.

Image
Thanks to donations from you and other caring people, Cuddle Bear triumphantly recovered from parvo, a deadly illness.  At the time of rescue he was very sick and his previous owner could not afford treatment.  We rescued this angel and rushed him into emergency medical care at a veterinary hospital.  Cuddle Bear has since made a full recovery and today he debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Chihuahua and Pomeranian mix, neutered baby boy, 3 months young, cute and gentle as can be. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety and protection.

David survived being struck by a car and debuts for adoption.

Image
David , a chatty youngster who loves being the center of attention, triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. A good Samaritan witnessed him being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot.  Fortunately, he deflected from the car rather than being run over, but his injuries included a left eye that came out of its socket. We had medical care provided for him and he recovered beautifully! David is a petite Chihuahua, neutered boy, 2 years young, good with dogs, grateful to be alive and well.

Hula Hoop is a Malti-Poo puppy yearning for love.

Image
Hula Hoop earns her name with her excitable, wiggly dance!  She is a precious Malti-Poo puppy (Maltese & Toy Poodle), spayed girl, 3 months of age, ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. At the time of rescue she was very sick with the deadly parvo virus.  We had extensive medical care provided for her and she triumphantly made a full recovery!

Doogie -- before & after

Image
Doogie - before, bed sores Doogie - before, bed sores Doogie on April 14 What a valiant, inspirational recovery this boy has made! At the time of rescue Doogie was a matted mess of skin and bones.  When we shaved away the filthy knots, we discovered large, painful bed sores on both of his hips.  He was so weak he could barely stand up or lift his head. Fast-forward three months, and thanks to tender loving care, Doogie is now a robust, playful, affectionate little guy ready for adoption into a loving home. He is a Poodle mix, neutered, 5-6 years of age, compatible with other dogs, and he adores people. His soulful eyes speak volumes.  Please help us ensure he never sees the reckless, cruel side of human nature again.

I was saved at the last minute!

We were in the parking lot of a government-funded shelter getting ready to bring a truck-load of rescued animals to Nevada SPCA.  We came across a woman holding a 10-day old puppy who was near death, fading away and cold to the touch.  The woman told us a guitar was accidentally dropped on the dog's head and she was bringing the puppy to the government-funded shelter to have her put to sleep. She agreed to give the dog to us instead so we could try to save her life.  We rushed her into an emergency veterinary hospital and then said many prayers.  Her chances seemed dim because of brain swelling, but this angel pulled through beautifully and we placed her in a foster home for continued recovery and bottle-feeding. We named this little miracle " Faith ".  She has fully recovered and blossomed brilliantly!  She cuddles, gives kisses, and she is as endearing and social as we could have hoped. Faith is a lovely blend of Toy breeds, perhaps with Rat Terr...

We are blooming now that we are healthy and well.

Daisy Rose Update: Rose was adopted on March 14! Update: Daisy was adopted on March 12! Daisy and Rose are baby girls who came from two different litters and were sick with the parvo virus at the time of rescue. We had emergency medical care provided for both puppies, and after extensive treatment, the girls made full recoveries. Daisy is endearing and has a loving nature.  She is most likely a Pointer mix, now spayed about between 4-5 months of age. Rose is affectionate, spunky, and playful.  She is a Heinz 57 with Retriever, now spayed about about 4 months young. The girls are available for adoption separately.   Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.

I was screaming because I was hurting.

Drama is a tiny little angel who insists on tons of attention and adoration and reassurance. She is a beautiful blend of breeds, perhaps a Beagle & Chihuahua mix.  She is spayed and about 6 months of age. Drama was surrendered to us due to her "screaming".  But her listlessness concerned us that she was ill, and sure enough she tested positive for the deadly parvo virus. We rushed her into emergency medical care at a veterinary hospital.  After extensive treatment, she made a full recovery. Regular readers of this site may have noticed that we have been rescuing an increasing number of puppies, like Drama , who are arriving very ill and in urgent need of advanced medical care.  These precious lives are in the most dire of need and we deeply thank all of you who step forward to donate and help us save them. Drama is now ready for adoption.  We believe she will do best in a gentle home environment, showered with loving care. Please be sure to ca...

Perhaps you just saved an angel.

Swiss Miss Espresso Update: Swiss Miss and Espresso were adopted on February 24th! Our ability to save animals in desperate need, and those requiring advanced medical care, is possible only because of the generosity and compassion of people like you who donate to Nevada SPCA . Swiss Miss and Espresso , sister and brother, are two babies who had almost no hope when they became ill with the parvo virus and their previous owner was unwilling and/or unable to provide the medical care necessary to save their lives. We rescued these angels and rushed them into emergency medical care at a veterinary hospital.  After extensive treatment, both valiantly made full recoveries. Swiss Miss and Espresso are cute babies with loving natures and gentle spirits.  They are Labrador Retriever mixes, spayed/neutered, about 4 months of age, and we expect them to grow to large size. At the time of rescue this angelic baby girl was extremely sick with parvo virus. Her previous owner was unwilling and/or unable to provide the emergency medical care needed to save her life, so she was surrendered to us. Her initial prognosis for survival was poor, but we rushed her into intensive care at a veterinary hospital, and after extensive treatment, she valiantly made a full recovery. Summer is now ready for adoption into a loving forever home.  She is Toy Poodle puppy, spayed, about 7 months of age.  She gives light kisses and has a joyful nature. She enjoys other dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. Summer is alive thanks to donations to Nevada SPCA from caring people like you who support our rescue and rehabilitation work for community animals in need.  Thank you.

Take a close look and you may see that I am a prize and a treasure.

This petite girl is peachy and remarkably captivating, with wonderful love for kind people. We rescued Lottery from a parking lot.  She had been dumped in a container without food or water.  Thankfully one of our volunteers happened to be walking by and heard her cries. She had a golf ball-sized tumor on her hip.  An exceptionally compassionate donor stepped up for her and covered the cost of her surgery to have it removed.  She has healed beautifully (and there is almost no sign now that it had ever been there). Lottery is a darling dilute calico (blue, cream, and white), shorthair, spayed girl, about 9 years of age, with eyes that plead for understanding. While she adores people, she is not so fond of other cats, and may do best as the only feline in the home.   Please visit Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms and ask for Lottery by name.

My eyes are windows to my soul.

Update: Buck was adopted on February 2nd! Today is a triumph for Buck , who is still a puppy at about 11 months of age.  He is finally all clear of a simple skin fungus we had been treating on him for months and he is ready for adoption into a loving, forever home. What a handsome, noble young boy!  His magnetic eyes are hypnotic and we love his fawn & white coloring and floppy left ear.  He is neutered and most likely a Siberian Husky and Shepherd mix. Buck has had some crate-training and housetraining, but your patience and good guidance may be needed.  In addition, we recommend basic dog obedience training to help him channel his athleticism and energy into proper behaviors. He needed us due to his previous owner's financial hardship.

Thanks to you, I have a bright future.

Update: Don Juan was adopted on January 31st! Like so many puppies, Don Juan had an owner who was unwilling and/or unable to provide emergency medical care for him when he became critically ill. Suffering from the parvo virus, death was certain if he did not receive intensive care.  So we rescued him and rushed him to a veterinary hospital for extensive treatment.  Fortunately, he triumphantly made a full recovery! Don Juan is a tiny, sweet Chihuahua puppy with an affectionate nature.  He delights in gentle belly rubs. Don Juan is neutered, about 4 months of age, and debuting for adoption today. We are deeply grateful to all of you who donate to Nevada SPCA .  Your contributions empower us to save innocent lives, like Don Juan , who are in desperate need throughout the community.
