Rusty

Rusty , the most social of baby boys, enjoys every person and cat he meets.  When he's exhausted from playing with his toys he likes to cuddle other kittens and groom them.  Rusty is a super cute shorthair kitten, 3 months of age and neutered, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued him from another shelter that asked for our help. Please carefully kitten-proof your home for his safety.

Rusty, overjoyed in his new home!

Rusty is a 16 & 1/2 year old sweetheart rescued last month.  His previous owners had moved away without him and we were terribly concerned he would succumb to depression. We just received the short clip above from his new mom and hero, Pamela, and her husband, who adore Rusty and have obviously brought him enormous happiness.  Rusty's new brother, Tramp, an Australian Shepherd, can be partially seen too.

Rusty, a heartbroken Shetland Sheepdog who yearns for love.

Rusty is forlorn, heartbroken and lonely.  He cannot understand why he lost his home due to his previous owners' declining health.  Rusty takes great comfort in being around other dogs and we strongly prefer adopting him into a home where there is another dog (or dogs).  Rusty is a very handsome Shetland Sheepdog, about 4 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is reportedly fine with cats too and housetrained and crate-trained.

Rusty, a handome Rottweiler ready to add joy to your life.

Rusty loves to shake paws.  He is a social, engaging youngster who wants and needs to be around people.  But his previous owner got him through one of those anonymous classifed ad web sites and was trying to turn him into a "guard dog".  We are committed to finding Rusty a loving home where he will be valued as a companion and family member and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Rusty is a handsome Rottweiler, neutered, 3 years of age.

My trust is precious.

Update: Rusty was adopted on February 22nd! Rusty is an especially endearing boy. He is eager to please, but wary of strangers.  Once he knows you, he is warm and friendly. Rusty is a handsome Beagle mix, neutered, about 4 years of age, debuting for adoption today. We rescued him from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space. Rusty is terrific with other sweet dogs.  Please come meet him and spend time with him in our adoption courtyard.

I am trying to show you my magnificent personality.

Update: Rusty was adopted on November 5th! The bigger dogs, especially mixed breeds, have such a harder time attracting adopters, even when they have beaming, fun-loving natures like Rusty . Rusty came to us from another rescue because he was there a long time, mistakenly overlooked by their visitors. We are hoping with his jazzy new portrait and web presence with us that we will score him a tremendous new home in short order. Rusty is a Heinz 57 with brilliant red coloring, most likely a Retriever and Chow Chow mix. He is neutered, 2 years young, and debuting for adoption today. Besides his wonderful temperament and good looks, he is well-behaved. He is housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with dogs and kind children. Please visit Nevada SPCA and ask to spend time with Rusty in our courtyard.

I wish someone would understand me.

Update: Rusty was adopted on February 10th! Generally mild-mannered, Rusty is sweet, usually easy-going, and very handsome. He is a red tabby & white shorthair, neutered male, approximately 2 years young. Please visit and ask for Rusty by name in The Sweetheart Suites (two of the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms at Nevada SPCA). Like many cats, Rusty does small bites ("lovebites") when over-stimulated. (This can occur during brushing, when the doorbell rings, if a dog begins barking loudly, etc.) Lovebites may also come if he gets grumpy from being held too long, cornered, or when feeling anxious. Rusty needed rescue when his owner dumped him for being "too aggressive" -- however, we have yet to witness any such behaviors here. We believe an experienced, patient, adult-only home will suit him well. His independence and limitations need to be respected and understood. Endearing and engaging, Rusty has much to offer the person or couple who open their hear...

A loving forever home will tame me.

Athletic and tenacious, Rusty can sometimes be a handful. But this zippy youngster has a good heart and we know he will make an exceptional companion and new family member in an experienced home. Rusty is a very attractive orange tabby with white, neutered, and approximately 3 years of age. We rescued him after he was abandoned at a veterinary clinic. You can ask for Rusty by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Like all of the rescued cats, he requires a strictly indoor-only home for his lifelong safety and protection.

Why were they trying to kill me?

Update: Rusty was adopted on July 18th! Rusty is a very affectionate youngster with a heart of gold. He is a chocolate & tan Miniature Pinscher mix, neutered male, approximately 18 months of age. He is housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and compatible with both cats and dogs. Rusty had an extremely traumatic experience with a gang of children and teenagers. They were making a game of trying to run him over with their bikes and skateboards, and laughing as he weaved and cried to avoid being crushed. A caring adult stopped this cruelty and rescued Rusty from the gang. He needs a gentle home, and for obvious reasons, he will do best with only adults (or much older & mature kids). Rusty debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Let's ensure that this sweetheart never sees the dark side of human nature again.
