My neck has healed so well, but my heart still hurts.

Douglas, debuting for adoption October 24
Douglas has been healing for 10 weeks.  Today, he triumphantly debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

He is a very sensitive, 9-pound, 9-year-old Chihuahua & Toy Fox Terrier mix, now neutered.

Douglas is good with other dogs and housetrained.

Douglas was reportedly abused for years by both adults and children.  At the time of rescue, in August, he had a large, jagged laceration across the right half of his neck and his wound was severely infected.

The veterinarian who saved his life said the cut was consistent with being from a knife or from having his head stuck in something sharp.

We have decided against publishing the picture of his open wound.  Instead, below, we have included two pictures of him healing in September, the staples showing the outline of the long cut.

Understandably, Douglas is very wary of strangers.  But we are proud of him for accepting our care and maintaining hope despite all he has endured.

Please help us find Douglas a hero who will provide him with a serene, stable, and very loving home where he never again has to fear screaming or violence.
