But my love is unconditional . . .

Update: Ava was adopted on October 28th! We have mixed stories on why Ava lost her previous home.  One account was that mom's new boyfriend did not like cats, while another account was that the owner did not want to pay a pet security deposit to the apartment complex. Innocently impacted by all of this was beautiful, petite Ava , a humble Himalayan mix who just wants to love and appreciation. Ava is eager to begin a new life with a person or couple or family committed to keeping her forever.  She is spayed, about 3-4 years of age, and available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.  Please ask for her by name when you visit. Like all cats, Ava needs to be indoors only for her safety and protection.  Please only adopt if you are willing and able to keep her inside your home at all times.

Is it dangerous to give all of my heart to someone?

Update: Vivianna was adopted on October 5th! Understandably confused, Vivianna cannot make heads or tails of why those she loves keeping handing her away to someone else. This unfortunate musical chairs of sorts has now come to a screeching halt.  We are dedicated to finding her a forever home with a loving, committed person, couple, or family so she stops getting her heart broken. Vivianna is a darling Lhasa Apso mix puppy, spayed female, about 6 months of age, debuting for adoption today. She is bashful, but warm-hearted with those she dares to trust.   She enjoys other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. We believe Vivianna will do best in a quiet, gentle home.  Please visit and ask for her by name.

Can I count on you to always love and keep me?

Update: Baby was adopted on October 1st! Baby is such a doll.  She is wonderfully lovable, playful and good-natured puppy. She is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, spayed female, about 6 months of age. Baby is one of several Yorkshire Terriers and Yorkshire Terrier mixes surrendered to us by a woman who said they were "too loud" to live in her apartment. Please plan on regular grooming care for her and carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection. Baby debuts for adoption today.

My wrinkles enhance my smiles.

Update: Vinnie was adopted on October 11th! Vinnie is a youngster with unique good looks.  He is reportedly a cross between an English Bulldog and a Boxer. He's beautiful on the inside too, devoted and sweet.  Perhaps strong-willed and moody on occasion, so an experienced owner is the best fit for him. Vinnie reportedly enjoys other dogs and is compatible with cats and older children.  (Young kids though reportedly make him nervous.) He is neutered, 2 years of age, and debuting for adoption today.  Vinnie needed us when his previous owners divorced and he ended up with neither of them.

$5 Microchip IDs for pets this Saturday at the festival!

Image
We believe that micro-chipping your companion animals is an act of love that will help keep them safe. You may remember reading about John John, the dog featured on this site earlier this month, who was homeless in Brooklyn, New York.  His microchip ID saved his life, as it traced back to Nevada SPCA since he had been adopted from us. Every day, microchip IDs help lost animals get immediately returned to their owners. One of the most popular features of the annual Family, Fur & Fun Festivals is the $5 microchip ID booth, courtesy of Aloha Animal Hospital.  All healthy companion animals are welcome, the microchip IDs are implanted on-site, and the whole process takes only a few minutes. We hope to see you Saturday! What: 4th Annual Family, Fur & Fun Festival When: Saturday, October 2nd, 10am-4pm Where: Exploration Peak Park in Mountain's Edge, 9700 S. With all of this tender care I feel like a prince!

Update: Mac was adopted on October 5th! At the time of rescue it was clear this puppy had never before been brushed or groomed.  Even worse, he had been living in filthy conditions and had urine burns on his paws. We shaved him all the way down to the skin, freeing him of knots and tangles and filth, symbolic of the lifestyle he permanently leaves behind. Today, Mac debuts for adoption.  Come meet this adorable baby boy and enjoy his friendly, loving nature. Now that he is eating nutritious food, we expect his coat to grow back beautifully.  And, more importantly, his personality is blooming. Mac is a cute Poodle mix, neutered male, about 6 months of age.  He is compatible with other sweet dogs and needs regular pro grooming care (so please budget extra accordingly).

Besides giving you love and joy, I may inspire you.

Update: Matt was adopted on October 2nd! Matt adores people and other dogs. We have endless compliments for him and his wonderful outlook on life.  He is fun-loving and affectionate, playful and endearing. Like his father, Russell, who was also featured on this site (earlier this month), Matt was born without front legs.  He moves surprisingly well for short distances and stands on his hind legs occasionally. Besides a very social home, with an experienced, patient owner, Matt needs someone who can budget properly to help him get fitted for a wheel-cart once he grows to adult size. We expect Matt to remain small.  His father is a handsome Jack Russell Terrier mix and his mother, Leanna (also available for adoption), is a Papillon mix.  Matt is neutered, about 3 months of age, and debuting for adoption today. Like all puppies, Matt needs someone who can commit to him for his entire life, as well as carefully puppy-proof the home and yard for his safety and protection.  P

A loving, forever home would be heavenly.

Update: Cosmo was adopted on October 1st! This little angel has triumphantly survived steep obstacles to make it to this special day -- his debut adoption day. Besides being homeless at such a tender age, Cosmo was ill with the deadly parvo virus at the time of rescue.  We had extensive medical care provided for him at a veterinary hospital and he fortunately made a valiant, full recovery. He is Heinz 57 with Schnauzer, neutered, approximately 3 months of age, expected to remain small or grow to medium size at most. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety and protection. If you can make a lifetime commitment to Cosmo joining your family, please come meet this terrific baby boy. Donations from caring people like you are the reason we can pursue rehabilitation for animals who are sick or injured at the time of rescue.  Please visit Nevada SPCA's Donate page on our main web site to help save innocent animals in desperate need, like Cosmo

Please give me consideration.

Update: Bailey was adopted on October 5th! We believe Bailey could be a marvelous, lifelong companion in an adult-only home. She is a very sweet, friendly girl, tri-color Beagle, spayed female, about 8 years of age. Bailey is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and compatible with many other dogs. She lost her home because she is intolerant of children.  She reportedly gets so anxious around them that she may even get nippy to warn them away.  Therefore, we are requiring that she be adopted to a strictly adult-only, experienced home (in order to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention). Beagle knowledge and/or experience is preferred for Bailey's adoption.

Please do not mistake me for an "Easter bunny".

Image
Update: Jackie-O was adopted on November 23rd! An elegant, refined lady, our staff named her Jackie-O after rescuing her from another shelter. She is a gorgeous English Spot mix, spayed, 2 years of age, shy at first but warm-hearted with gentle people she trusts. We believe Jackie-O may make a wonderful companion with a neutered male bunny or another spayed female.  If you have a rabbit (already spayed/neutered) who needs a friend, then please contact us and we'll have a "bunny date" in our new Lovebugs Room. We do not have much background on Jackie-O, but we are still seeing huge numbers of rabbits who were purchased at stores and from breeders before Easter losing their homes on a constant basis.  The gimmick of selling "Easter bunnies" results in countless homeless domesticated rabbits each year, because these temporary homes are doomed from the start.  Adoption is forever, so we seek only those willing and able to make lifetime commitments to compan

My babies were too young to be separated from me.

Image
Update: Purr-dee was adopted on October 11th! One of our staff came upon a person in a parking lot handing away this beautiful cat and her newborn kittens. Realizing the babies could not possibly survive without their mother, our staff person convinced him to immediately give her mom and all five kittens at no charge. Unfortunately, the kittens were in terrible, sickly condition.  We rushed them into medical care at a veterinary hospital, but despite best efforts only two survived.  (They will be available for adoption once they are old enough and healthy enough to be spayed/neutered.) We named momma " Purr-dee " due to her lovely blue-cream-white coloring and loud purring.  She is a doll. Purr-dee is now spayed and ready for adoption.  She is 2 years young and hoping for a caring, committed owner who will show her the better side of human nature. Please ask for her by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

Will you show me how to fit into this world?

Image
Update: Princess was adopted on October 18th! Princess is ready to blossom. She is a bashful, sensitive young girl who needs a patient owner to help her gain confidence. Like many puppies who are improperly socialized, she can get terrified in new situations and with strangers.  There are no instant fixes, but her progress will continue as she builds more self-esteem. Princess is a pretty Chihuahua mix with warm eyes and an innocent spirit.  She is spayed, about 2 years of age, and debuts for adoption today. She is likely to do best in a home with another dog (or two) -- a big sister or big brother dog to help guide her and speed up her adjustment process.  An experienced, adult-only home, please. Princess needed rescue due to her previous owner's financial hardship.

We are soul-mates and we have plenty of unconditional love to share with you too.

Image
Update: Demi & Niki were adopted on October 21st! Demi & Niki , brother and sister, were taken to a government shelter after their owner passed away.  Both needed dental work and space was running out, so we were asked to rescue them. They are a delightful pair!  Not just siblings, they are soul-mates and belong together forever.  They have gentle spirits and they are full of love. Demi & Niki are Yorkshire Terriers, spayed/neutered, approximately 8 years of age.  We had dental care provided for them and they debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They are good with other sweet dogs and need regular professional grooming care. Please adopt them today and keep them together forever.  They are ready to bring more sunshine and joy into your life.

Update: Schirky was adopted on September 29th! Despite his petite size, Schirky is a confident, outgoing, and dashing fellow. A social boy, it makes sense that he was bored to tears when left alone without a brother or sister to keep him company.  Schirky lost his home reportedly because he was "too loud". Many, if not most, barking issues seem to stem from isolation issues.  These babies just want to be with their families (their packs) and being alone for long periods can cause them great stress. Schirky is a Yorkshire Terrier, neutered, about 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today. He loves other dogs and needs regular professional grooming care, so please budget accordingly. Schirky is reportedly crate-trained, but has occasional accidents in the house, so your patience and good guidance are needed to help him complete housetraining.

I triumphantly survived! There is hope for "runts" like me.

Image
Rhett is a precious baby, a true gem. We are overjoyed that he survived against steep odds.  He was the runt of a litter (born to his mom, who we rescued), forced away from feeding by his stronger, more developed brothers and sisters. One of our staff members took him home and fostered him through many weak nights, and at times had to force-feed (under veterinary guidance) him. Rhett has a superstar personality, a bit zany and always enjoying being in the spotlight and winning your adoration. Rhett is a Bully mix, neutered male, 3 months of age, debuting for adoption today. Please give this sweetheart puppy a forever home and carefully puppy-proof your yard and residence for his safety and protection.

Can I humbly ask you to consider me to join your family?

Image
Update: Rocky was adopted on October 23rd! Rocky is ready to steal your heart. He is an especially endearing, lovable, playful youngster. We rescued Rocky from another shelter that had run out of space to keep him. He is a Miniature Poodle mix, neutered male, about 2 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Rocky enjoys other sweet dogs and needs regular brushing and grooming care. He responds best to those with soft voices and a tender touch.

I am finding that people can be kind and fun.

Image
We are very proud of Cagney's progress since joining us a few months ago. He is a very handsome Mini Rex rabbit with stunning coloring, neutered male, about 2 years young. Initially, he wanted nothing to do with people, and tried to nip at us when we approached him. But now he anticipates affection from those he trusts with a warm heart, and enjoys climbing and exploring in The Cottontail Cottage play area. Cagney's improvements will need to continue in his new home, so adults only are still required to err on the safe side for bite prevention. Please visit our new Lovebugs room and ask for Cagney by name.  He is one of almost 90 rescued, spayed/neutered bunnies for adoption today.

I need a new daddy, please.

Image
Cat-Tastic is indeed a fantastic, fun, spunky boy. He loves playing with you, cuddling for attention, and then soaking up the sun with a nap by a window. Cat-Tastic is a beautiful orange tabby, medium-hair, neutered, about 4 years of age. He needed us when his previous owner passed away and asked that his 5 cats join us so they can find new loving homes. Cat-Tastic gets along very well with other cats and needs an indoor-only home for his safety and protection. Please ask for him by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

I am super snuggly and playful!

Image
We expect you will fall head-over-heels for Baker too. He is a well-behaved, adventurous youngster, an excellent cuddler, and he loves earning your attention. Baker is a petite Beagle, neutered male, one year young, debuting for adoption today. Besides being good with dogs, he is reportedly housetrained and compatible with cats and kind children of all ages. His previous owners surrendered him because they believed he needed more companionship.  They said he adores chew toys, spins in circles when especially excited ("spinnies"), loves being chased and playing in water, and gets car sick easily. Beagle knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for his adoption.

Your good guidance will help ensure I continue developing into a well-balanced girl.

Update: Tina Marie was adopted on October 8th! Tina Marie , a peppy and curious puppy, would love to bring her jazzy personality into your life. She is a pretty Bully mix with tuxedo coloring, spayed female, about 7 months young. Tina Marie enjoys other playful dogs and will do best with an active lifestyle with you. Please plan on basic training for her to help channel her energy into positive behaviors. At the time of rescue Tina Marie was in an abandoned boat and she had a serious skin condition (demodex).  We had treatment provided for her and she responded well, and she now tests negative for the condition. Please remember to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection.  Tina Marie debuts for adoption today.

Are there not apartments that allow dogs?

Image
Update: Bocci was adopted on September 25th! Bocci is confused about why he lost his previous home, unable to understand why the family got split apart. We are doing all we can to comfort him, but his heart is broken and it will take time to heal. Bocci is a darling young boy, very sweet and lovable, and he is ready today to find a forever home. He is a Maltese mix, neutered, about 3 years of age, compatible with other friendly dogs, and needing regular professional grooming care. Bocci needed us when his previous owners moved to an apartment that did not allow dogs.  But people in a similar situation due to the continuing faltering economy will find that more apartments than ever are welcoming pets in order to find desperately-needed business. We believe Bocci will do best in a quieter, very stable home.

Perhaps I am a rustic old boy, but I can still be your baby.

Image
Update: Snow was adopted on September 24th! Snow is a petite senior with a tender-hearted, gentle soul. But at 10 years of age he found himself homeless and in danger, dodging cars in a gas station parking lot. Fortunately, an animal control officer successfully captured him.  He was then taken to a government shelter, which asked us to take him because of his old age. We were happy to rescue him.  Snow is sporting a brand new grooming for his debut day -- today -- for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Snow is a Maltese, neutered, good with other sweet dogs, and in need of periodic professional grooming care. Please remember that seniors have just as much unconditional love and gratitude to share with you as younger dogs.

How do I know who will hit me and who will love me?

Image
Update: Bella was adopted on October 9th! Watching Bella emerge from her emotional shell is a beautiful thing to see. Her progress is slow, but steady, and will need to continue in her new home. We do not have the details, but someone wounded her soul when they abused her innocence and trust.  New people may terrify her because she is unsure of their intentions. Bella is a Shepherd mix, medium-size, spayed, about 10 months of age.  She debuts for adoption today. She is good with other dogs and reportedly housetrained.  A gentle home is best for her. Please adopt Bella and show her the better side of human nature from now on.  She has tremendous loving potential.

I want to bring kindness into my life.

Image
Update: Griffin was adopted on September 25th! At the time of rescue Griffin was wandering through a deserted lot next to a housing complex under construction. He befriended a construction worker who showed him compassion and provided desperately needed food and water. Griffin is now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA, hoping to find a forever home so that he never again has to struggle to survive outdoors. Griffin is a stunningly attractive Lilac Point Siamese with deep blue eyes, about 4 years of age.  He has a tender-hearted temperament. He would show you a lifetime of gratitude in exchange for a gentle, kind home.

I never thought I would be homeless.

Image
Garfield is a distinguished young boy, handsome and friendly, perhaps a bit on the lazy side like his namesake. He is an orange tabby, medium-hair, neutered, and about 2 years of age. Garfield needed us when his owners could no longer afford him.  Their homeowners association reportedly began charging residents an extra $50 per month per pet in order to discourage people from having companion animals. He is loving in nature and an impeccable groomer, trying always to look his best.   Please come meet and adopt Garfield today in our free-roaming Nevada SPCA Cat Condo playrooms.  You can ask for him by name.

I yearn to belong to someone loving who will keep me forever.

Image
Update: Mahji was adopted on September 25th! Mahji is an adorable baby boy, as cute as can be, who enjoys being the center of attention. He is reportedly a Maltese & Lhasa Apso mix. We had him neutered and he debuts for adoption today. Mahji needed us when his previous family moved to a rental home that did not allow pets. Besides loving other dogs, he is reportedly housetrained and compatible with cats and older, mature children. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for Mahji , budgeting extra accordingly.

Can you make a lifetime commitment to a baby girl like me?

Image
Monique is a precious little jewel. She is an adorable puppy with a loving, playful nature. We rescued Monique when she was abandoned by her previous owner. She is a pretty Bully mix, spayed female, about 3 months of age, debuting for adoption today. She enjoys the company of other sweet dogs. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection. Like all companion animals, Monique needs a forever home. Please only consider her if you can fully commit to her joining your family for the next 15 years or so.

I promise to bring barrels of fun into your life everyday.

Image
Update: Conrad was adopted on October 5th! Conrad is full of energy and pizzazz. He is a zany, fun-loving boy with an insatiable zest for life. Conrad is a dashing Labrador Retriever, neutered male, about 4 years of age. He is generally well-behaved, but pulled on the leash too strong with his previous owner and kept getting away from her. He is fine with other dogs and reportedly housetrained. Conrad reportedly loves children, but in his playful exuberance may knock down young kids with his tail. He needs an owner who is ideally experienced with basic dog training techniques who can channel his energy into proper behaviors. Conrad is ready for adoption today. Please visit and ask for him by name so you can spend time with him in our adoption courtyard.

I am ready right now to belong to you, forever.

Image
Update: Harley was adopted on September 23rd! Volunteers and staff agree that Harley is one of the most handsome Basset Hounds we can remember seeing. He is friendly too, though equipped better for a gentle lifestyle. New people, especially adult men, make him anxious, though he warms up brilliantly with those he knows and trusts. Harley is a tri-color, 4 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. Basset Hound knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred, particularly due to the ear-cleaning needs of this breed. Besides being good with other dogs, he is reportedly housetrained and compatible with cats. Harley needed us when his previous owner was cited for having too many dogs.

Let me put my paw on your shoulder and comfort you.

Image
Update: Skylar was adopted on September 25th! Skylar has very powerful eyes, looking at you deeply, seemingly full of wisdom. He is still a baby though, technically a puppy at 10 months of age, yet so engaging and charming. Skylar aims to please. One of the ways he likes to win affection is by cuddling close and putting his paw on your shoulder. He is a Shepherd mix, medium-size, with beautiful brown and mocha coloring. We found Skylar tied up to a post, abandoned without a collar or micro-chip ID, much less not sterilized. Skylar is now neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on major vaccines, and debuting for adoption today. Please come meet him.

They left us behind, but we still had each other.

Minnie & Molly are sisters whose bond only grew stronger when they experienced the trauma of abandonment in a foreclosed home. Fortunately, a caring neighbor suspected the girls were trapped inside and took steps to get them saved. Minnie & Molly still believe in people. They have big, sweet smiles to share with everyone kind, and you can see their tails wagging in excitement to greet you. The girls are Boxer and Retriever mixes, spayed, about 8 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. At the time of rescue both had advanced medical needs. We had a tumor on Minnie's uterus removed and multiple mammary tumors on Molly removed. They bounced back and recovered beautifully. ( Please donate online if you would like to help us with their medical expenses .) Minnie & Molly are soul-mates. Please be sure they stay together their entire lives. We hope you come meet them in our adoption courtyard today.

I am a baby who seeks a loving future with a committed family.

Image
Please come fall in love with baby Vanderbilt . He is a Mini Lop, about 8 months of age, now neutered and ready for adoption in Nevada SPCA's new Lovebugs adoption room. Vanderbilt has a placid demeanor, but he is also inquisitive and cherishes your gentle attention. He is one of 11 Mini Lop rabbits we recently rescued from another shelter. Like all domesticated bunnies in our desert climate, Vanderbilt needs an indoor-only home for his comfort and safety.

I may be a perfect lifelong companion for you.

Image
Update: Chester was adopted on October 16th! There is so much to love about Chester . He is well-behaved, friendly, loyal, kind, and easy-going. He humbly just asks for a lifetime commitment from you in exchange for his unconditional devotion. Chester is an exceptionally handsome, parti-colored shorthair (grey & white) with ethereal eyes, neutered male, 4 years of age, previously declawed. He needed us when his previous owners believed that their children suddenly became allergic to him. Please remember that if you suspect allergies to a family pet, there are more medical options than ever before to help you so that you can keep your family together. Those who work with their physicians and/or veterinarians often seem to find reasonable, effective solutions. Chester debuts for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Please visit and ask for this sweetheart by name.

I love people and toys with all of my heart.

Image
Update: Burton was adopted on September 21st! Burton is a light-hearted boy with a fun-loving, often silly nature. But he takes his toys very seriously and wants his chosen toy near him at all times. This passion for toys reportedly cost him his right eye. A more aggressive dog wanted his squeaky ball, but Burton refused to relinquish it despite being severely bit in the eye. Burton enjoys cats and dogs though, but needs them to be uninterested in his toys. He is also reportedly housetrained and fine with mature, older kids. There are no reports of him biting or nipping people. However, to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention, his toy obsession precludes him from being around toddlers and young children. Burton is a Cocker Spaniel, neutered, about 4 years of age. Please plan on regular grooming care and budget accordingly. Please come meet this special boy today and let him charm you with is zest for life.

If you are patient with me, I will blossom beautifully.

Image
Update: Gina was adopted on October 2nd! We rescued this lovely puppy from another shelter. She is terrified of new people and new situations, unsure of how she fits into this world and lacking in self-esteem. We named her Gina . We love her sensitive, tender-hearted nature and how she warms up once she trusts you. She is a blend of breeds, perhaps including Beagle, spayed, and about 10 months of age. Gina is making progress with our steady routine here and ready to debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Her progress will continue in your home if you are very patient and understanding with her limitations. She was not socialized properly as a puppy and it will take time for her to build confidence. At this time, a gentle home is best for her.

Chihuahua Appreciation Week at Nevada SPCA

Image
Regarded as sacred and mystical in pre-Columbian Indian nations (according to Wikipedia), Chihuahuas are one of the oldest dog breeds, and we agree that they often have magical, wondrous personalities. To encourage people to consider these little gems with big personalities, we are celebrating Chihuahua Appreciation Week at Nevada SPCA and offering 50% off adoption fees for all Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. T-Rex (pictured here), a fun-loving 5-year old, and 64 other rescued dogs qualify for this adoption special. Each is spayed/neutered, up-to-date on major vaccines, and micro-chipped with an ID. In addition, they go home with packets of free food and a complimentary veterinary check-up, and more. Chihuahua Appreciation Week at Nevada SPCA begins at 11am Monday morning on September 20th and lasts through 5pm Saturday on September 25th. This breed seems to be particularly devastated by the ongoing economic and home foreclosure crisis. This is the most Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mix

Please help me always keep my wonderfully positive attitude.

Update: Sandy was adopted on October 16th! Sandy is a lovely puppy with a bubbly personality. All it takes is one look in her sparkling eyes to see that she is bursting with joy for life. Sandy is a small Terrier mix, spayed female, about 8 months of age. Sandy needed us because her previous owner said she "worked too much" to keep her. She delights in playing with other dogs and soaking up your approval and adoration. Sandy may need your patience and good guidance to complete housetraining. Also, please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection. Sandy debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

They say I have the personality of a cuddly dog.

Image
Update: Big Sam was adopted on September 22nd! Everyone who sees Big Sam wants to give him a hug. He is 25 pounds of love! He is an expert snuggler and delights in gentle belly rubs. Big Sam is a longhair tuxedo, neutered male, 5 years of age, and previously declawed. He needed us when his previous owner passed away. Like all cats, Big Sam needs and deserves an indoor-only home for his safety and protection. Please visit Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms and ask for this huge lovebug by name.

I have unconditional love for you in exchange for a lifelong home.

Image
Update: Mikey was adopted on September 25th! Mikey is a wonderful youngster debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is an endearing, charming boy , a Shih-Tzu mix, neutered, just a year of age. We rescued Mikey from another shelter. The background information was very limited, but indicated he was fine with kind children and dogs, and still needed help with housetraining. Mikey reportedly dashes out the front door, so please take extra precautions to keep him securely in your home and yard. Please also plan and budget for regular professional grooming care.

I did not do anything wrong, did I?

Image
Update: Harley was adopted on September 25th! Like so many other innocent companion animals, especially the past two years, Harley is a victim of the home foreclosure crisis. He does not understand why he lost his home and family. But he is a noble boy and he has tremendous loving potential. He is reportedly housetrained and fine with older, mature kids. Harley's previous owners said he cannot be around small animals, but he is fine with some larger dogs. In addition, they said he is nervous around adult men who he does not yet know or trust. Saint Bernard knowledge and/or experience is required for Harley's adoption.

Please make sure I never experience starvation again.

Image
Update: Armondo was adopted on October 2nd! Armondo is gaining weight, slowly and steadily, and regaining energy. It turns out he has a jazzy, social personality. We rescued Armondo from another shelter. He was severely undernourished and they asked for our assistance in order to give him special care. He is a loving, handsome Chihuahua, neutered male, 4 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Armondo is great with other dogs and probably will do best in a home with another dog or two. He will need to continue gaining weight in his new home. Please be willing and able to provide him with a variety of foods and treats that will help him remain interested in food.

Why did they think I was unable to travel too?

Image
Update: Brownie was adopted on October 20th! Brownie is confused why he lost his home and family. He watched his previous owners pack up utensils, books, furniture, pictures and other inanimate objects to take with them for their big move, but then he was taken to a government shelter. We rescued him from there, and today, he debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Brownie is an energetic, very lovable young boy. He is most likely a Terrier & Toy mix. He is neutered and approximately 18 months of age. Besides being good with other dogs, Brownie is reportedly housetrained and compatible with kind children. Please plan on regular grooming care for him.

My personality sparkles.

Update: Louise was adopted on September 18th! Please come meet Louise . We know you will find her irresistible. She is a Teacup Pomeranian, spayed female, about 7 years young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We rescued Louise from another shelter. Are the planets aligned now in our favor?

Update 2: 3 of the puppies remain available for adoption.  Jupiter, Mercury, and Saturn were adopted on September 23rd. Update: 6 of the 8 remain available for adoption. Neptune and Venus have been adopted. Just over a month ago a family showed up in our lobby with a dirty box full of 8 puppies. They said they had just found the babies abandoned in a park and had managed to capture all of them. They needed urgent care due to heat exposure and all of them were sick with intestinal parasites (giardia). We named them " The Planet Puppies " -- the girls are Saturn and Venus , and the boys are Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Neptune, Pluto, and Sun . (Sun and Jupiter are pictured above, and their siblings can be seen on Nevada SPCA's main web site ). All 8 survived, and after weeks of medical treatment,

But wait, please, I still have the heart of a kitten.

Update: Creamsicle was adopted on January 8th! Creamsicle was originally adopted as a kitten. But "forever" only lasted one year, reportedly due to his owner losing interest in him once he became a young adult. We look at Creamsicle and see a magnificent sweetheart who has aged/blossomed into adulthood. Perhaps adults don't chase and bat at toys as vigorously as kittens, but their loving natures have matured. One of the things our adopters mention frequently is how special it is to bond with and grow a unique relationship with a cat, based on trust and time and goodwill. Creamsicle is a friendly, loving, and especially handsome blue-cream Tabby. He is neutered, just 18 months of age, and ready for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Please adopt him and show him that humans are capable of commitment and exchanging unconditional love.

He dumped me because his wife loved me.

Update: Shady Lady was adopted on November 3rd! Shady Lady , a gorgeous girl in appearance and spirit, found herself a pawn in a troubled marriage. She was reportedly rejected by a jealous husband who feared his wife loved Shady Lady so much that it was "interfering" with their relationship. These innocent angels just want to be part of families, safe and cherished, but they usually lose their homes and lives due to dynamics in human relationships they cannot understand or control. Indeed, there is much to love about Shady Lady . She is a kind, gentle youngster with a curious nature. She is a Tortoiseshell, spayed, about 2 years of age, and ready to meet you today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms, one of 200 rescued cats awaiting new forever homes. Please be sure to keep her strictly indoors only for her protection.

Can we count on you to make a lifetime commitment to us?

Update: Debi and DJ were adopted on September 16th! Debi & DJ are sister and brother, precious Chihuahua puppies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They are spayed/neutered, approximately 4 months of age, both gentle in spirit and full of love. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection. Debi & DJ can be adopted separately, but they are wonderful together. Please consider adopting them together for lifelong love and companionship. The babies needed us when their previous owner moved to a new home where pets are not allowed.
