Life on 3 legs is no problem. I am just happy to be alive.

Update: Republic was adopted on September 2nd!

Republic
is a noble, wise youngster, smart enough to realize that there is no time for pity when you can still enjoy the every day wonders of life.

Come meet him at Nevada SPCA and you will find an enthusiastic, cheery boy ready to find a forever home.

Just a few weeks ago though, he was a mangled, injured mess and in a state of shock. A man who drives a trash-collecting truck alerted us about a little brown dog under a dumpster.

His injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle -- the bones in his front left leg were shattered and his jaw was broken. But he also showed signs of being attacked by another dog or coyote and he had puncture wounds across his body.

We rushed him into emergency medical care. The veterinary surgeon was able to wire and repair his jaw. His leg could not be saved and it was removed.

Republic is healing beautifully. He adjusted to life on three legs very quickly and he bounces about as if his past traumas never occurred.

Republic is a chocolate Heinz 57, a medium-size version of a Chihuahua mix, with stunning golden eyes. He is neutered, about 3 years of age, and debuting for adoption tomorrow (Thursday, August 26th).

Please come meet Republic. We hope you find him as inspirational as we do. Please adopt him and ensure that he never experiences tragedy again.

His rescue and rehabilitation was possible because of compassionate people who donate money to Nevada SPCA. If you can afford to help innocent animals like Republic who are in great need, please donate online today. Thank you.

His amazing portrait above is courtesy of the extremely talented people at Pet'ographique who donated their services to help him find a loving, lifelong home.
