I know I am sometimes sassy, but did I really deserve to be thrown out of the family?

Update: Casey was adopted in December!

Our strong opposition to declawing cats is based not just on the pain and maiming, but also because of the behaviors it exacerbates, often leading to rejection and homelessness.

Deprived of an important part of their anatomy, the equivalent of the tips of human fingers, our experience is that declawed cats are more likely to begin biting and choosing to eliminate outside of their litter boxes.

Eight year-old Casey, a gorgeous, spayed Torbie girl who was previously declawed, lost her home after biting a houseguest.

Our evaluation of her is that she enjoys attention and affectionate, but from those she knows and trusts. We see no viciousness in her whatsoever, but a tendency to avoid contact with strangers or people who sneak up on her.

Since Casey can get spicy and sassy with those who irritate or frighten her, and because of the alleged bite, Casey requires an adult-only home.

Casey will do best with a quieter lifestyle with less commotion. Please have empathy for this calm girl who never asked to be declawed, or pawed by a stranger for that matter. She is full of love and ready to share her devotion with a gentle person or couple who respect and appreciate her limitations.
