Galant

Image
Galant pleads for someone to love.  He cannot understand why he loses the people he gives his whole heart too. Galant fears every goodbye is forever, so he is distraught to see you leaving the house.  There is no instant fix for separation anxiety, but there are many small steps (including crate-training) that can be taken to diminish his anguish with time and patience, as he comes to realize you will never fail him.  Galant is a handsome German shepherd mix with golden eyes, 3 years young and neutered, and debuting for a hero adoption at Nevada SPCA .  He was at another shelter that asked for our help.  It appears Galant needs a one-dog household please.

Dmitri needs a hero.

Image
Dmitri is a young Siberian Husky with enormous good in his heart and his jolly personality often shines through beautifully.  He is 1 year of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Dmitri likes other dogs, provided he is fed meals and treats separately.  He is challenged by special needs that include partial blindness and possible epilepsy.  Veterinarians believe he has some vision impairment in both eyes.  His previous owner said he had seizures.  We have Dmitri on daily medication (phenobarbital, which is generally inexpensive and highly effective preventing seizures) and we have not noticed any seizure activity during his time here at the shelter. Finally, Dmitri treats people he knows and trusts like precious gold and gives full adoration.  Some men though distress him and he worries they will hurt him or those he loves.  Strangers must never lunge at him.  A very experienced, adult-only home can help Dmitri ...

Ringo needs a hero.

Image
Ringo is an angelic baby boy, 5 months of age, now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. At the time of rescue Ringo was about 8 weeks of age and a person found him on freeway, wounded and in shock, believed to have just been thrown out of a moving vehicle. Ringo has healed beautifully, thanks to veterinary care and foster care.  But his neurological damage from the incident affects his balance and results in him being unable to jump. Ringo scoots and crawls, surprisingly well, and likes to snuggle against you and lick your hand while you're petting him.

Penelope

Image
Penelope is a tiny, 8-pound lovebug with enormous unconditional love to share.  She is a Longhair Chihuahua, about 7 years of age and spayed, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Penelope enjoys other sweet dogs.  She copes well with a birth defect to her hind left leg.  Penelope cannot walk on the leg and it does not cause her pain.  She uses her leg occasionally for leaning and sitting, so her veterinarian recommended against amputation.  Please help us find her a gentle forever home.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for these beautiful portraits for Penelope .

Let me show share my love and gratitude with you.

Beau is dreaming of a hero and he is eager to share his unconditional devotion.  He is a "Chug" (Chihuahua & Pug mix), 10 years of age, neutered, housetrained, crate-trained, compatible with cats & dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org).  Beau is mostly blind, so a stable home environment and lifestyle will help him thrive.  He needed us when his previous owner passed away.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing his remarkably sweet spirit in these brand new portraits.

I want to share my happiness with you.

Please help find a hero for Elvis , a remarkably sweet and happy young boy who needs a low-stress lifestyle and home environment.  He is a small Terrier mix, 3 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Elvis is mentally challenged and panics if you try to pick him up or touch his back when he is feeling anxious.  Veterinarians are not sure whether he has a development disability or if he sustained mild brain damage from head trauma earlier in his life.  Elvis gets along very well with other dogs in small groups and, for the most part, will be able to lead an ordinary and meaningful and fulfilling life.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing his cheerful spirit in this brand new portrait.

I need someone to believe in me.

Willy was at another shelter after being found on the streets, extremely nervous and with his left eye missing.  Willy is now at Nevada SPCA, but he doesn't yet realize he is safe and he's wary of people and afraid of being hit or screamed at.  He yearns for stability and peace-of-mind, so a gentle household is a must for his emotional recovery.  Willy is a small Terrier mix with stunning red & white coloring.  He is about 3 years young, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Willy gets along well with other dogs, so finding a home where he can be the "little brother" may be ideal.  Please help Willy find a hero so he can reach his full loving potential.

Don't give up on me. I offer you my unconditional love.

Elvis inspires us with his joyful, indomitable spirit. He is mentally challenged.  We do not know whether he has developmental disability or brain damage from an early life head trauma.  He functions exceptionally well in low-stress environments and his impairment may hardly be noticeable.  But around strangers or in unfamiliar and anxious situations he may begin to panic and breathe very heavily in distress. Elvis enjoys other dogs very much.  He tends to do particularly well around one or two dogs, rather than a large group of dogs. He is a tri-color Terrier mix with wiry hair, 3 years young, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We rescued Elvis from another shelter. Please help us find Elvis a hero who will cherish him and provide him with a stable, gentle, forever home.

The gratitude and love I will have for my hero knows no bounds.

Please help Frederick find a hero.  He is a distinguished, noble German Shepherd, about 8 years of age, neutered boy, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Frederick is very affectionate and wants to crawl in your lap and put his face close to your chin or shoulder.  Special Needs: 1) He has impaired vision, so please take extra safety precautions for him in your home and yard. 2) His hind legs are weak and a more leisurely lifestyle is best for him.  Frederick deserves dignity and love in his final years.

I can't see you, so your soft touch and words mean the world to me.

Bella can't see you, but when you touch her and speak sweetly her face lights up and she shuffles close to you for cuddling.  She is eager to please and will even walk beside you on leash, gingerly, trusting that you will take caution to keep her from running into walls and other dangers.  If you have stairs or a pool, please be sure access is gated for her safety.  Bella is an affectionate Labrador Retriever, almost 9 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued her from another shelter.  Please help us find a hero for Bella .

I need your help and patience adjusting to my new reality, please.

Bowie reportedly recently lost his hearing in full, causing him some anxiety.  Hand signals for communication, a stable lifestyle routine, and an understanding to not startle him are very important to help him continue to adjust.  Bowie is a stunningly attractive Australian Cattle Dog mix, about 5-6 years of age, neutered boy, now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Bowie is reportedly housetrained and loves his toys.  An experienced, adult-only home is needed for his continued progress.  Please help us find Bowie a hero.

The power of touch helps offset my lack of sight.

Midnight Magic delights in falling asleep in your arms and in your lap.  Her soft coat and sugary-sweet personality are perfect for snuggling.  Midnight Magic is 3 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She gets along beautifully with other cats.  At the time of rescue her left eye was severely damaged and could not be saved.  Her vision is impaired in her remaining eye and so it is important to take extra precautions kitty-proofing your home for her safety.

Won't you be my hero?

Image
Allison cannot see you, but she yearns to make a connection and understand you.  We love her serenity and affectionate nature.  Allison adores people and she gets along well with dogs too.  She is a petite, lovely Chihuahua, about 6-8 years of age, spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is completely blind in both eyes, so please take extra special precautions to puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety.  We rescued Allison from another shelter.

Will you be my hero?

Nico is an incredibly cute little boy who loves to cuddle and be pampered.  He is a Shih-Tzu, 4 years of age, neutered, housetrained, good with other sweet dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued Nico from another shelter to find him a special needs home.  He has stunted growth in his front legs (angular limb deformity) that results in a pronounced bow-legged walk.  Nico only likes to walk short distances.  Please help find Nico a hero who will cherish him as a treasured gem.

Cuddle me and tell me that I can always count on you.

Benny cannot see you, so a gentle touch and soothing words means the world to him.  He is a great cuddler and craves the reassurance he gets from leaning against you.  Benny is a sweet Beagle, about 6 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada.  Benny is blind, so please take extra precautions puppy-proofing your home and helping him become familiar with your home and yard.  An experienced, adult home is needed.  We rescued Benny from another shelter.

I loved them unconditionally, but they decided I could just be someone else's "problem"?

Cody was at another shelter where he did not qualify for adoption because of blindness and bad teeth.  (His previous owners had dropped him off there when they moved away.) He is a very gentle, affable little guy, a Yorkshire Terrier, about 6 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Cody gets along well with other dogs and seems to adapt very quickly to new spaces, learning the lay-outs of the areas around him. We had dental cleaning done for Cody and he's now ready to find a loving, forever home. Please help us find Cody a hero so he is never failed again.

Perhaps you will find me perfectly imperfect.

Boo Bell is a happy-go-lucky, engaging young girl who pleads for attention and reassurance.   She is a beautiful, tri-color, medium-size Heinz 57 with Shepherd, 1 year of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Boo Bell has permanent head tilt, due to a congenital development, but she does not need medication and her veterinarian believes this does not affect her quality of life.  Please help us find Boo Bell a hero.

Maybe there is a hero for me?

Dexter has the enthusiasm and jazzy spirit of a puppy, but he is actually 10 years of age and completely blind. Dexter is a Jack Russell Terrier, neutered, housetrained, good with cats and dogs and kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Dexter relishes playing with other dogs and greets you warmly every time you return.  He gets around very well and confidently without his sight. Please help Dexter find someone special for his twilight years.

I have made huge progress and earned a second look.

Please help us find Lenny a hero. He is a wonderful little gentleman, and volunteers have helped him immensely in overcoming memories of past abuse, but for months he has been overlooked because of his epilepsy. Fortunately, Lenny is responding well to his daily medication -- which is very inexpensive -- and has not had a seizure that we know of in the past 5 months. Lenny is a Chihuahua mix, 5 years of age, neutered boy, good with dogs and cats, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this handsome portrait to help him win new consideration.

Manny's triumphant debut for adoption!

Image
Manny is an angelic puppy with the cutest deer-like appearance and bubbly personality.  He is a German Shepherd, about 10 months of age, neutered, and full of love.  At the time of rescue weeks ago he was dangerously malnourished. But he is responding well with pancreatic enzyme substitutes (sprinkled on his food) for a pancreatic insufficiency. German Shepherd knowledge is strongly preferred for Manny's adoption.
