I have happy feet.

Update: Carter was adopted on February 2nd! We think of little Carter as a lyrical boy who is not shy about vocalizing with you when he is hungry or wanting a hug. Carter is still a kitten at about 9-10 months of age, a handsome grey shorthair with golden eyes, neutered, and available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. He needed us when he was abandoned outdoors by his previous owner. Carter wants to be able to look up into your eyes and have your full attention .  Please only consider him if you can make plenty of time daily to shower him with affection and adoration.  He delights in "making biscuits" with his paws -- rhythmically pressing on you while he purrs. Please also be sure to carefully kitten-proof your home for his safety.

I would be a terrific sister.

Such a gentle soul, Star is very endearing and a tender cuddler. She is a lovely Lop & American mix bunny, spayed, one year of age, with a sleek black coat and warm eyes. Star needed us when she was abandoned by her previous owner, apparently regarded as another "Easter bunny" rather than as a loving, social animal and family member. She relishes her daily salad greens and especially her shredded wheat snacks. We believe Star will bond well with another rabbit in need of a brother or sister.  Please bring your bunny to meet her in our Lovebug Room for a 'bunny date'.   (Note: Your rabbit will need to already be spayed or neutered too.)

I am very loving and I do remarkably well in small spaces.

At the time of rescue L'Oreal was pregnant and out on the streets, in a hopeless situation made worse with her lack of sight. But thanks to loving foster care, she had her babies indoors, safely and in comfort. Now it is L'Oreal's turn to be adopted.  She is a mellow, beautiful smoke tabby, medium-hair, spayed, and about 3 years of age. Despite being mostly blind, she has never had a problem finding her food or litter box.   She does extremely well in quiet, small spaces and enjoys cuddling in your lap, so perhaps she can live primarily in a designated guest room or cozy part of your home. Please ask for L'Oreal by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.  She is one of 200 rescued, spayed/neutered cats there awaiting loving, forever homes.

Snacking on melon is my favorite treat.

Update: Buddha was adopted on February 1st! Buddha is a peaceful, serene young adult sugar glider with enormous charm available for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please ask for him by name in the Lovebug Room. This precious boy needed us because his previous owner said he did not have the knowledge or time to care for him properly. A marsupial, Buddha loves his comfy pouch.   Sugar gliders are nocturnal, they play at night and sleep during the day, so his pouch hung high in his vertical cage feels safe and keeps him out of sunlight.  (His nesting box and being able to climb is critically important, so an aquarium-type habitat is not acceptable.) We need an experienced owner for Buddha , someone knowledgeable about and/or experienced with this species.  A fresh fruit diet is essential for his health and there are specific woods it is acceptable for him to chew on.  Sugar gliders in captivity reportedly can live 10-15 years. Like all rescued animals, we ...

I love shoulder rides!

Update: Aztec was adopted on February 2nd! Foster parents are heroes. Not only do they help us save those with fragile holds on life, but they also help socialize the animals in their care, showing them the human capacity for nurturing care. Aztec's foster mom helped instill in him a sense that the world is a kind place where he is free to chase toys and look into your eyes when you snuggle him. Aztec is a singularly attractive kitten, a medium-hair tabby with striking dark brown (almost charcoal) coloring.  He is neutered and about 7 months of age. At the time of rescue he was a newborn on the streets, his momma nowhere in sight. Aztec fancies curling his paws over your shoulder while cuddling.

My eyes are windows to my soul.

Update: Buck was adopted on February 2nd! Today is a triumph for Buck , who is still a puppy at about 11 months of age.  He is finally all clear of a simple skin fungus we had been treating on him for months and he is ready for adoption into a loving, forever home. What a handsome, noble young boy!  His magnetic eyes are hypnotic and we love his fawn & white coloring and floppy left ear.  He is neutered and most likely a Siberian Husky and Shepherd mix. Buck has had some crate-training and housetraining, but your patience and good guidance may be needed.  In addition, we recommend basic dog obedience training to help him channel his athleticism and energy into proper behaviors. He needed us due to his previous owner's financial hardship.

From Rags to Riches.

Update: Breeze was adopted on February 4th! Every day we wonder how some people can be so cruel to innocent life.  This little treasure was abandoned by a dumpster behind a veterinary clinic in the middle of a cold winter night, stuffed inside a small crate along with 5 kittens and 2 adult cats. We rescued all 6 animals and, fortunately, all survived that miserable ordeal.  The cats are still receiving care in preparation for adoption and Breeze , a pretty Chihuahua mix, is now spayed and debuting for adoption today. Breeze is an exceptionally sweet youngster, humble and warm.  She is just a year of age, great with other animals, and blooming beautifully (hence the flower-like frilly scarf). We seek a caring home for her where she will never again have to face ultimate rejection and disposal, instead being cherished as a princess for the rest of her life.

Thanks to you, I have a bright future.

Update: Don Juan was adopted on January 31st! Like so many puppies, Don Juan had an owner who was unwilling and/or unable to provide emergency medical care for him when he became critically ill. Suffering from the parvo virus, death was certain if he did not receive intensive care.  So we rescued him and rushed him to a veterinary hospital for extensive treatment.  Fortunately, he triumphantly made a full recovery! Don Juan is a tiny, sweet Chihuahua puppy with an affectionate nature.  He delights in gentle belly rubs. Don Juan is neutered, about 4 months of age, and debuting for adoption today. We are deeply grateful to all of you who donate to Nevada SPCA .  Your contributions empower us to save innocent lives, like Don Juan , who are in desperate need throughout the community.

Can you make time for me?

Update: Little Peanut was adopted on January 29th! We cannot overemphasize enough how wonderful this baby girl is and how much love she has to share with a new, committed owner. Little Peanut is a petite, tri-color Beagle with mesmerizing eyes, spayed, about 8 months of age, debuting for adoption today. Besides enjoying other dogs, she is reportedly housetrained, crate-trained. Little Peanut needed us because her previous owner did not feel he had enough time for her. We recommend basic dog training to help her continue to channel her energy into good behavior.

Perhaps I am a diva in the making.

Image
Update: Emme was adopted on January 29th! Emme is simply irresistible! She is a baby girl, cuter than a Teddy Bear, debuting for adoption today. But she is as strong-willed as she is adorable, so an experienced home is required for her adoption.   Her foster mom has been working with her on food aggression and being temperamental, and this progress will need to continue in her new, adult-only home. Emme is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, spayed, about 4 months of age, and good with some dogs (except around food and treats when extra caution is in order).  She will need your patience and good guidance to complete housetraining. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection. Emme needed us when her previous owner abandoned her.

We would love to bounce right into your life.

Ace & Queen We honor the strong bonds of soul-mates by having them be adopted together, even though this usually results in them being more difficult to adopt.  But for many homeless animals, their soul-mate has been their rock through often difficult times, and the emotional consequences of breaking them up are too devastating. Ace & Queen would love to be treated and adored like royalty in a caring new home.  They are Miniature Pinschers, spayed/neutered, approximately 5 years of age. Both have a cute prance and spring in their step, along with being compatible with friendly cats and dogs and children.   At the time of rescue they were banished to living outdoors only, which is unacceptable, so your patience and guidance may be needed to help with completing housetraining. Ace & Queen are both on a special diet (fish-based food) for allergies, and Queen has a chronic dry eye needing daily drops. These regal little dogs have been with us for seve...

How do I find a forever home?

Image
Update: Sugar was adopted on January 29th! Quiet-natured little Sugar debuts for adoption today.  She is a gorgeous Cocker Spaniel, spayed girl, about 5 years of age. She is good with dogs and reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with cats and older children. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for Sugar to keep her looking and feeling great. Sugar needed us because a member of her previous family was allergic to her. This sweet girl may do best in a calm home environment.

Please help me reach my full loving potential.

Image
Update: Midnight was adopted on February 3rd! Midnight (the name she arrived with) is an exceptionally gentle youngster who desperately needs to build self-esteem. We are not sure whether she has been the victim of screaming or physical abuse, or if she was improperly socialized when a puppy, but she hunkers down in new situations and with new people. But with those she trusts, Midnight shares her heart and affection. She is a lovely Labrador Retriever mix, spayed, just past one year of age.  She debuts for adoption today. Midnight is compatible with other dogs and reportedly fine with older, mature kids.  She may need your patience and guidance to complete housetraining, as she reportedly has accidents when especially anxious. She needed us when her previous owner moved into an apartment without her. Once in a loving home, we know she will bloom beautifully.  We look forward to seeing her in the months to come holding her chin high with pride.

Please let me live indoors as a cherished member of the family.

Image
Update: Crosby was adopted on January 28th! Crosby is full of life, eager to explore and play and be with you as much as possible. He is a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer, neutered boy, about 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Crosby is athletic and will do best with an active lifestyle.  He reportedly enjoys chasing after tennis balls and going for walks. German Shorthaired Pointer knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption. Crosby needed us because he had been handed off, at least twice, from owner to owner.  He was very underweight at the time of rescue, living solely in a crate or the backyard, which must have been agonizing for this social boy.

I believe in the essential goodness of people.

Image
Update: Harli was adopted on January 29th! Harli has the bright eyes of a puppy. But this wise girl is well past 13 years of age. Harli aches for attention and adoration, and she may cry if you dare to ignore her. She is a lovely Siberian Husky, spayed, debuting for adoption today.  She is reportedly housetrained and crate-trained and compatible with cats and dogs (especially small ones) and kind children. Harli needed rescue when her previous owner became homeless. We cannot emphasize enough the untold emotional rewards that come with adopting seniors.   Please give this jolly girl serious consideration.

I am confused why people get angry with me.

Image
Update: Mauricio was adopted on January 31st! A sensitive youngster who yearns for kindness and understanding, Mauricio's fear of new people is heartbreaking. We strongly suspect his previous owner screamed and raged at him, melodramatically cursing instead of giving a puppy the patience and good guidance needed in a gentle manner. Mauricio still believes in people though, and he is eager to share his heart with someone with a tender touch. He is a Miniature Poodle with stunning good looks, neutered, about 2 years of age.  We rescued him from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space to keep him. Mauricio enjoys other dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.

I love to show off how good I look and feel.

Image
Update: Amos was adopted on January 29th! We get a kick out of watching Amos , a former show dog, jump up on stools and small platforms or tables to be admired and fawned over. And he does have magnificent good looks and posture.  Amos is a Labrador Retriever, about 8 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption. He is very friendly and cheery, always looking for fun .  He is reportedly crate-trained, but we are unclear whether he is housetrained or just used to dog kennels. Amos needed us when his previous owner went into hospice.  At the time of rescue Amos had an enormous, cantaloupe-sized tumor on his front leg.  But the friends of his previous owner raised money to donate to Nevada SPCA to cover the cost of the surgery to remove the tumor in full, which was achieved, and Amos has healed very well. Please come meet this sweet boy.  The show ring is behind him, but he can still be a champion in your loving home.

I dream of living life on a bed of roses.

Update: Whiskers was adopted on February 1st! Trying to survive on the streets is hard enough for cats, and often fatal (due to vehicles, disease, coyotes, and so many other dangers), but imagine being declawed on all four feet, completely defenseless, unable to even run up a tree for basic safety. But somehow little Whiskers eked out a survival outdoors long enough to be rescued. Whiskers is surprisingly gentle and demure considering what she had to endure.  She seeks out quiet places and responds best to soft-spoken people. She is a lovely tabby with white feline, spayed, about 5 years of age, and available for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Please adopt Whiskers and keep her strictly indoors.  As mentioned, she is fully declawed, so even a single trip outdoors could end her life. These splendid portraits of Whiskers are courtesy of Pet'ographique to help her find a forever home.

Please make sure I am never lonely again.

Leigha delights in taking catnaps stretched out on a window seat where she can soak up the sun's rays from the comfort and safety of being indoors. She is a sweet feline with mousy good-looks and captivating green eyes, a medium-hair with some calico patterning, spayed, about 3 years of age. Leigha is wary of new people, but warm-hearted with those she trusts, and she loves other friendly cats. She was rescued after being abandoned in a hotel suite. Please ask for Leigha by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Very special thanks to Pet'ographique for showcasing Leigha so beautifully in a portrait to help her find a forever home.

Will love come around again for a 13 year old sweetheart like me?

Image
Update: Leona was adopted on February 4th! A rustic girl with soulful, heart-breaking eyes, Leona's gentle spirit pleads for another chance for love. Imagine being homeless in your twilight years.   But she trusts us to find her someone special to cherish her and let her live in dignity during her final months or years on Earth. Leona is in surprisingly good shape for a 13 year old.  She walks very well on a leash and her teeth are healthy.  She is reportedly a Labrador Retriever and Border Collie mix.  She is spayed. We rescued her from another shelter where she did not qualify for adoption (due to age).

Our playful antics should be on YouTube!

Wednesday & Pugsley Update: Wednesday and Pugsley were adopted on January 27th! Wednesday and her brother Pugsley are wonderfully comical babies who promise a lifetime of unconditional love and entertainment. They are Chi-Weenies (Chihuahua & Dachshund mixes), spayed/neutered, approximately 3 months of age, debuting for adoption today. These angels needed us due to their previous owner's inability to care for them. Wednesday and Pugsley can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting the duo for lifetime companionship. Please be certain to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.

Who can I give my heart to?

Image
Update: Jeremiah was adopted on January 26th! Jeremiah is a humble, super sweet, shy baby boy debuting for adoption today. He is a Teacup Chihuahua, neutered, about 8 months of age, with a cute widow's peak and extra large ears and sad eyes. Jeremiah yearns for a loving home, preferably with another dog (or dogs) he can bond with. Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety and protection. His previous owner surrendered him to us without explanation.

A guardian angel must have saved me.

Image
Update: Lucy was adopted on January 31st! Lucy is a dainty kitten with a tender, gentle spirit and affectionate nature. She is a shorthair feline, brown tabby & white, with striking facial features, spayed girl, about 6-7 months of age. This sweetheart was reportedly among a large litter of kittens ravaged by a loose dog, all of who were killed during the attack except for Lucy (and she had severe injuries). The neighbor who witnessed the attack was devastated and rushed Lucy to an emergency veterinary clinic to try to save her life (since the kittens' owners were unwilling or unable to do this).  The clinic reconstructed Lucy's jaw and the neighbor brought her to us for adoption so she can live a proper, safe life, indoors, where she will be protected in a loving home. We cannot emphasize enough how strongly we feel about cats living strictly indoors.  Tragedies, like the one that took the lives of all of Lucy's sisters and brothers, are commonplace for...

I believe I have been misunderstood.

Image
Staff and volunteers at Nevada SPCA rave about this vivacious, intelligent, good-looking boy. George is a slender Border Collie, neutered, about 8 years of age, ready for adoption today. We are in a bit of a quandary with relaying background information.  We have conflicting information, and since some of it came from what seemed like a mean-spirited source, we have to discount anything we do not know first-hand, so questions of housetraining and compatibility with other animals is unknown. But George is eager to please and fun-loving.  He sometimes play-bites, a behavior that must be corrected in an experienced home, perhaps with the assistance of a trainer, and he needs an adult-only home to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention.  Border Collie knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred.

I want someone who will keep me forever.

Image
Brinkman delights in dancing and entertaining you to win smiles and good cheer. He is a cute, light-hearted youngster debuting for adoption today, a Miniature Poodle, neutered boy, just under a year of age. Brinkman is compatible with other friendly dogs and requires regular professional grooming care (so budget extra accordingly, please). We rescued him from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space for him.  His background is mostly unknown, except that he was outdoors fending for himself. Please cherish me him every day and emphasize to him that he is a valued member of the family.

I do not like to be alone.

Image
Scruffy is a frisky, social young boy, as adorable as they come with a loving nature. He is reportedly a "Morkie" -- a Maltese & Yorkshire Terrier mix.  He is neutered, about 3 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Scruffy needed us when his previous owner became too ill to care for him.  He is great with other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.  He is reportedly housetrained, but only with a doggie door and may otherwise have accidents, so your patience and guidance may be needed. Also, Scruffy reportedly has separation anxiety and gets distressed when you leave even for short periods of time.  An experienced owner is needed to help curb this anxiety, and while there are no instant fixes, in time as he feels more secure his anxiety will diminish.

Shower me with attention.

Image
Carmella is one of the more outgoing and affectionate guinea pigs we can remember rescuing in quite some time.  She enjoys being held and purrs when you gently rub behind her ears. She is a beautiful guinea pig, most likely an American & English breed mix, approximately 2 years young.  We love her silky caramel coloring and warm eyes. Carmella needed us when her previous owners moved out-of-state and chose not to take her. Please come meet and adopt her in Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room.

I am a sweet ball of dynamite!

Image
Update: Sally was adopted on January 27th! Bouncy and athletic, Sally seems to have the energy of an entire litter of puppies. But she is generally well-behaved (except, reportedly, when company arrives and she gets so excited that she drops all manners), including being housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and compatible with cats & dogs and kind children. So Sally will thrive with an active lifestyle.  She is a pretty Jack Russell Terrier, spayed girl, about 6 years of age. Sally needed rescue when her previous owner changed housing arrangements. Jack Russell Terrier knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption.  Please be willing and able to provide basic dog obedience training for her to so that she can continue channeling her energy into good behavior.

I bring a ton of fun and a positive attitude wherever I go.

Image
Update: Jackson was adopted on January 22nd! Jackson has an irresistible, winning personality, as he easily shares his joy and cheer. He is a handsome Cocker Spaniel, neutered boy, about 6 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Besides being good with other dogs, he is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with older, mature kids. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for him, budgeting extra accordingly. Jackson needed us when his previous owners moved into an apartment.

No one wanted me when grandma died.

Image
We adore Logan and find him endearing and incredibly lovable. But his heart was broken when his previous owner passed away and the surviving family brought him to us.  He is coming out of the depression well, thanks to staff and volunteers showering him with good cheer and encouragement. Logan is a well-behaved Jack Russell Terrier, neutered boy, about 6 years of age.  Besides getting along well with other dogs, he is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with cats and children.  For his allergies, please keep Logan on a fish & potato diet. Logan debuts for adoption today.  He has unconditional love to share with you.

I am beautifully emerging from my shell.

What a difference a few weeks of loving care has made for Fendi . This lovely young girl had not been socialized properly, with people or other animals, and she wanted nothing to do with any of us initially.  In fact, she tried snapping at us when her previous owner handed her off. Now, trust is building, along with her self-esteem, and we believe she is seeing the world in a more colorful, kind way. Fendi is a Shiba Inu mix, spayed girl, about one year of age, triumphantly debuting for adoption today.  Her progress with trust will need to continue in her new home. She needed us because her previous owner said she had "no room" for her. Fendi is reportedly housetrained and enjoys watching TV on a blanket with you in the evenings.

Comfort me.

Image
Update: Mi Moe was adopted on January 28th! Mi Moe is an affectionate youngster who enjoys snuggling and kissing your face. He is a Toy Poodle mix, neutered boy, about 2 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We rescued Mi Moe from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space for him. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for him and budget accordingly.  He had a cherry eye condition in his left eye at the time of rescue, but we had this repaired (no additional medical treatment is needed at this time, but your veterinarian will want to monitor his eye through the years). Mi Moe is compatible with other sweet dogs and we believe he will do best in a gentle home.

You will need to be sharp to keep up with me.

Image
Joyfully mischievous, Hudson is a youngster with great enthusiasm and curiosity.  And being an intelligent boy -- you can see the sly expression in his eyes -- he may try to out-think you to get his way. He is an exceptionally attractive Siberian Husky with piercing blue eyes, a neutered boy just a year of age.  We rescued Hudson from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space for him.  He debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Siberian Husky knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for his adoption.  We emphasize that he needs exercise for both his mind and body, so please carefully consider the lifestyle you can offer him.

I love to play with tennis balls.

Image
Update: Dakota was adopted on January 22nd! Dakota is a very sweet, shy boy, warm-hearted with those he knows and trusts. He is a Boston Terrier with striking liver and white coloring.  He is neutered, about 7 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. Besides being compatible with other friendly dogs, Dakota is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and fine with cats and mature kids. He needed us when his previous owner moved without him. Boston Terrier knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for his adoption.

Water Baby

Image
Update: Willie was adopted on February 22nd! Willie would love a home with a wading pool in the backyard, and maybe the chance to make some summer trips to the lake. His love for water is too cute.  We often find him relaxing with his paws in his water bowl.  Or if he is in an especially playful mood he will just carry the water bowl around in his mouth to get our attention. Willie is a distinguished Labrador Retriever mix, neutered boy, about 6 years of age. He needs a hero.   He has such enthusiasm for life, but visitors seem to overlook him and the months have rolled by.  Perhaps it is because he is still recovering from abuse and can be anxious around young kids.  Or because he needs a high-calorie food and plenty of treats. But staff and volunteers are enthralled with Willie and find him especially endearing and devoted.  Please come meet him and give him consideration. Special thanks to the good people at Pet'ographique for this beauti...

I dream of someone to love me and keep me forever.

Roo yearns for love and, though shy, she gives her whole heart to those she trusts. She is a beautiful Shepherd mix, spayed girl, about 3 years of age. An officer found her after she had been struck by a vehicle.  Worried that bones were broken or that she had internal injuries, she was rushed to a veterinary hospital for tests.  Miraculously, after extensive monitoring, her injuries were only minor (abrasions and bruising). Today, she valiantly debuts for adoption! Roo's personality shines.  Please visit and get to know her.

Help me become more of an angel.

Image
Update: Gingerbread Robin was adopted on January 22nd! Gingerbread Robin has a heavenly face and this baby girl has incredible potential. But she is very picky about who she likes, full of adoration and kisses for those she loves and full of venom for others.  Because she is surprisingly feisty, perhaps due to lack of socialization, she requires a very experienced adult-only home.   The progress with people she is making with us needs to continue with her new owner. Gingerbread Robin is a Shih-Tzu mix, spayed, about 5 months of age, debuting for adoption today. Please plan on regular grooming care and find a groomer who understands (and is cautious about) her animosity with strangers who frighten or alarm her. She delights in bouncing around and playing with other dogs.  We think she may do best in a home with another dog (or dogs) to help her adjust and improve her socialization. Please be sure to ask for Gingerbread Robin by name at our front desk if you ...

I love to cuddle with you and explore the house.

Image
Update: Scamp was adopted on February 1st! Scamp is incredibly handsome and he has a dignified personality to match his good looks. He is an affectionate boy who delights in soaking up your adoration.   When not curled up on your lap though he enjoys exploring rooms and satisfying his curiosity. Scamp is a longhair Classic Tabby with hints possibly of Maine Coon or Persian.  He is neutered, previously declawed, and about 6 years of age. We rescued him after he had been abandoned by his previous owner.  We had to shave off his matts and knots from neglect and now his coat is growing back gorgeously.  (Plan on regular brushing.) Please visit Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms and ask for this loverboy by name. Very special thanks to Pet'ographique for this amazing portrait of Scamp !

I am so exuberant because life is starting for me anew.

Image
At the time of rescue Dakota Dan was emaciated, in a state of starvation indicating weeks, perhaps months, of extreme neglect and food deprivation. But now the spark is back in his eyes and he has a new spring in his step! This fun-loving boy is overwhelmed with joy now that he feels good again, thanks to loving care. Dakota Dan is a handsome Shepherd mix (perhaps Dutch Shepherd mix), neutered, about 5 years of age, debuting triumphantly today for adoption. He is great with other dogs and he is reportedly fine with children.  We recommend basic dog obedience training to help him channel his energy into good behavior. Please cherish Dakota Dan every day and protect him from ever having to go hungry again.

I want to feel sun on my face and grass under my paws.

Image
Update: Feisty was adopted on January 21st! Feisty (the name he arrived with) does not fit this happy-go-lucky, chunky boy.  He is anything but feisty and we love his cheerful, hopeful nature. He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, neutered, just under 5 years of age. Feisty needed us when his previous owner was no longer able to care for him.  He had been living exclusively indoors with paper training, so he may need your patience and good guidance to adjust to using the bathroom in the backyard and/or on walks. He enjoys other dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. Feisty needs to trim up for better health.  Please feed him dog food instead of human food, take him for short walks, and consult with your veterinarian for any additional assistance in coming up with a safe, healthy weight loss plan for him.

Adopt me so I can be your sweet girl for life.

Image
Update: Bridget was adopted on January 22nd! We are charmed by Bridget -- her intelligence, friendliness, and good soul. She is a gorgeous German Shepherd debuting for adoption today.  She is spayed and about 2 years young. Bridget needed us because the cats in her previous home did not like her.  She is reportedly housetrained and compatible with other dogs and mature kids. German Shepherd knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption.

I want to feel safe.

Image
Update: Sugar Lynn was adopted on January 20th! Sugar Lynn's expressive eyes suggest she has witnessed far more than any dog ever should.  She has a pleading expression, hoping for tenderness and compassion instead of screaming and trauma. Her exact background is unknown, though she was surrendered to us due to serious personal problems in her previous home. Sugar Lynn is understandably bashful, but she responds well to soft-spoken people.   She is a Teacup Chihuahua, spayed girl, about 18 months of age, debuting for adoption today. Sugar Lynn is good with other sweet dogs.  She is reportedly paper-trained, so she may need your patience and guidance to complete housetraining (in terms of using a backyard and/or walks).

We love to pounce on wiggling toes!

Image
Buttercup & Creampop These sweet babies were found as newborns in an old ice chest in someone's backyard.  Something happened to their momma and she never returned.  We rushed them to a foster mom who could give them the tender loving care they needed to survive. Now, weeks later, both kittens are thriving and developing beautifully.  Buttercup and Creampop are sister and brother, spayed/neutered, about 4 months of age, and they are ready for adoption into forever homes.  They are both orange London Tabbies and have amazing "bullseye" tabby markings on their sides. Buttercup and Creampop are excellent cuddlers, but playfully rambunctious when their curiosity is triggered.  Their foster mom says that at night they creep up to the foot of the bed waiting for toes to wiggle. The kittens come to Nevada SPCA for adoption on Saturdays, beginning at 11am, and live with their foster mom during the week.  If you would like to meet them before Saturd...

My name should be Casanova.

Image
Update: Guido was adopted on February 12th! Guido is a loverboy extraordinaire! He is very affectionate and may paw at you gently to rub his tummy or cuddle with him close. But Guido keeps getting overlooked by visitors and the months have rolled by.  We asked Arica at Pet'ographique to capture his personality in one of her stunning portraits to help give him a fresh push. Guido is a distinguished Chihuahua mix, neutered, approximately 5 years of age. We rescued him from a government-funded shelter, so his background is unknown.  But we know that he loves other dogs his size and fits well into group settings.

I brighten every day with my sunny glow.

Image
Super lovable and cheery, Maddy is a dream dog in so many ways. We admire her innocent joy and Lassie-like smile. Maddy is a lovely Shepherd mix debuting today for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is a spayed girl, approximately 7 years of age.  She is reportedly housetrained.  Maddie is all about people.  Here, she has been fine with neutered male dogs her size, but she was surrendered due to being picky about which dogs she tolerates. We hope you consider her and spend time with her in our adoption courtyard, letting her personality shine.

Let me be your angel.

Update: Daisy was adopted on January 17th! An endearing girl, Daisy's gentle and loving nature steals your heart. She is a very sweet, pretty Lhasa Apso mix with warm eyes, spayed, about 3 years young, debuting for adoption today. Daisy enjoys other friendly dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. We rescued her from a government shelter that asked for our help due to space issues.  She has some old scarring on her back that is reportedly due to the removal of a lump, but it is expected to be invisible once her coat grows out again. Please visit and ask for Daisy by name.

I need a new loving home, please.

Update: Zeke was adopted on February 2nd! Zeke is an intelligent, noble boy with striking good looks. He is an Australian Cattle Dog, neutered, about 7 years of age, debuting today for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Zeke is well-behaved and knows several basic training commands.  He is reportedly housetrained too.  He is fine with most dogs, especially female dogs, but reportedly can get jealous of other dogs when he seeks attention for himself. He is smart and needs exercise for his brain as well as his body.   Please include him in daily activities, take him for walks, and engage him in playtime. We rescued Zeke from a government shelter that asked for our help because of being so full.  He was reportedly surrendered there when his owner moved and could not find housing that would include him.  (Please note though that many apartments and rental houses are now accepting medium size dogs like Zeke , and larger, because of the economic crisis).
