Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Jellybean, Miss Oreo's only daughter Miss Oreo , and her daughter ( Jellybean ), and three sons ( Gumdrop , Little Nibbles , and Truffles ), debut for adoption on Monday (Aug. 22) at Nevada SPCA . We rescued Miss Oreo , a sweet and beautiful Pygmy goat, from another shelter, and she was in late stage pregnancy.  She had difficulty giving birth and our staff did a beautiful job helping her, as she was so exhausted, especially with the final two, cleaning them up and getting them breathing.  The babies are now 3 months of age, very healthy, and the boys are neutered. Social animals, we are looking for safe, lifelong loving homes for them, ideally adopted in pairs (or as one large group). At the time of rescue L'Oreal was pregnant and out on the streets, in a hopeless situation made worse with her lack of sight. But thanks to loving foster care, she had her babies indoors, safely and in comfort. Now it is L'Oreal's turn to be adopted.  She is a mellow, beautiful smoke tabby, medium-hair, spayed, and about 3 years of age. Despite being mostly blind, she has never had a problem finding her food or litter box.   She does extremely well in quiet, small spaces and enjoys cuddling in your lap, so perhaps she can live primarily in a designated guest room or cozy part of your home. Please ask for L'Oreal by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.  She is one of 200 rescued, spayed/neutered cats there awaiting loving, forever homes.

Update: Beauty was adopted on January 5th! This little angel was surrendered to us, terrified and confused why she was losing her home.  (Her previous owner said he had "too many dogs".) The trauma resulted in her giving birth prematurely, by at least two weeks, to four puppies.  (Miraculously though, thanks to intensive care in a foster home, two of the babies are still alive and thriving.) Beauty is a sensitive young Teacup Chihuahua, about 3 years of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption today. According to her foster mom, she is housetrained, loves to sleep under the covers with you, and she is picky about which dogs she tolerates. Beauty seems to bond very strongly with one person, or perhaps a couple, and a gentle home is best suited for her.

Update: Curly Sue was adopted on October 2nd! Though it is never a good time to lose your family, Curly Sue was abandoned at the time of her greatest need. Upon rescue, she was pregnant and so large we knew that the birth of her babies was imminent.  We were able to place her in a foster home and she gave birth to 4 puppies the very next day. Curly Sue's babies are thriving, still in foster care until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered and prepared for adoption. But Curly Sue is now spayed and ready for adoption into a forever home today.  She is a lovely Pekingese, just a baby herself really at 2 years of age. Curly Sue has a tender spirit and eyes that seem to reveal wisdom and serenity.   She is fine with other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.  Her foster mom says that she is housetrained (with a doggie door). Pekingese knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption.

Update: Chico & Sissy were adopted on August 24th! Adopt Chico & Sissy and welcome two petite angels into your life forever. They are playful, animated, often silly youngsters, full of love. Chico & Sissy are brother and sister, and soul-mates, and need to remain together throughout their lives. They are very cute, small Terrier mixes, spayed/neutered, and about 3 years of age. Chico & Sissy are reportedly compatible with kind children of all ages. However, their previous owner surrendered them to us when she became pregnant (and no further reason was given for their rejection). Please note they are reportedly escape artists, so a very secure home and yard is essential for their safety and protection. We hope you visit and spend time with Chico & Sissy on our adoption patio. They are anxious to begin their new lives with a committed, caring family.

Update: Recess was adopted on July 3rd! This beautiful girl was abandoned in a school yard, pregnant and in great distress. We named her Recess and found a loving foster home for her. Her puppies are still in foster care, all doing well and getting socialization, and we expect them to be ready for adoption later this summer. Recess has a gentle personality and she adores kind people giving her lots of attention and affection. Recess is a petite Beagle, about 3 years of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption today. She enjoys other friendly dogs. Please plan on plenty of walks and daily playtime with her. Beagle knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption.

Update: Blossom was adopted on April 5th! Without any grace or compassion, a woman just opened our lobby door, tossed this tiny girl inside, and then sped away in her car. Besides being unnecessary and cruel, it deprived us of crucial background information needed to attend to her needs and find her a loving home. We named her Blossom . She was in the late stages of pregnancy and she was wobbly on her feet. We rushed her into medical care. She was diagnosed with neurological damage. Besides the wobbliness, this is exhibited in her occasional shaking. She gave birth to one puppy -- "Lil' Josie" -- who is in foster care. Blossom is now spayed and debuting for adoption. She enjoys other sweet and friendly dogs. Blossom needs a hero who will continue to show her the better side of human nature.
