Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Greta's story is heartbreaking, but she is well on her way now to a happily forever after, as she debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is a beautiful, young Terrier mix with expressive, golden eyes, 1 year of age, and now spayed.  At the time of rescue Greta was at another shelter.  She had just given birth, but she reportedly had been found in the streets, alone, with her babies nowhere in sight.  The shelter asked for our help because she was so depressed she did not want to eat.  We rescued Greta and volunteers immediately set to work reviving her spirits and will to live by comforting her and reassuring her that better days were soon ahead.  Greta is now eating full meals and lifting her head a bit higher each day.  Please help Greta find a hero who will shower her with adoration.  We look forward to the day when Greta returns for a visit to show off a magnificent smile and sparkling eyes!

Golden Max is a sensitive, affectionate, and stunningly handsome puppy now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.   He is a Retriever & Shepherd mix, 8 months young, neutered, and reportedly housetrained and crate-trained.  Golden Max seems to have lost his previous home due to his broken heart. He was reportedly very attached to a small dog who passed away a few weeks ago. Gold en Max then became very depressed and moody mourning his companion.  We strongly prefer placing Golden Max in a home with at least one other dog. Golden Max is reportedly compatible with cats too.  We believe it is best to keep him away from young children until his emotional healing is complete.  Please help us find him a wonderful, loving, forever home.

At the time of rescue (from the streets) Emily was so depressed we feared her health would decline if we could not get her spirits up and get her eating heartily.  Staff and volunteers showered her with attention and she perked up and found little joys throughout the day. For example, Emily likes napping under her blanket, but she will always peek out if she hears us coming to be sure to not miss a kind word or a scratch behind an ear or a special extra treat.  Emily is a beautiful young grey tabby & white shorthair with magical eyes, 3 years of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

Update: Barbie was adopted on December 24th! Barbie was abandoned by her previous owners and then rescued by neighbors who realized she had been left behind. They found her in a state of severe depression.  She is steadily recovering, though anxious about what has happened to her. Barbie is a very gentle, social girl, humble and unassuming.  She just wants to be included, to belong, and isolation is what brought her despair. We think she will do best in a home with another dog and/or with people who are frequently home. Barbie is a lovely Labrador Retriever mix, medium size, spayed female, about 6 years of age.  She is reportedly housetrained and great with kids of all ages.

Update: Kit was adopted on August 21st! Korean Jindo Dogs are known for their tremendous loyalty to their owners. Kit is clearly crushed about losing his previous home. We are working hard to pull him out of depression, but some days he is just too sad to eat. The sooner we can find him a committed new owner, the better, so he can focus his energy on sharing and bonding with someone special. Kit is a good-looking Korean Jindo Dog, neutered male, about 4 years of age, and he debuts for adoption today. He is intelligent and sweet, and perhaps best as the only dog (since he was surrendered due to not getting along with another dog). Please be sure to carefully secure your home and yard for his safety and protection. When you visit please ask for Kit by name so you can spend some time with him on our adoption patio or courtyard. Korean Jindo Dog knowledge and/or experience is preferred.

Update: Cinnamon was adopted on July 25th! Cinnamon is a sensitive little lady with a tender heart. She is a rare breed -- "Xoloitzcuintle" -- sometimes referred to as Mexican Hairless. She is a spayed female, approximately 4-5 years of age. She has recovered well from severe depression. Upon rejection by her owner, she just shut down physically and emotionally. We placed her in foster care in a gentle home environment with other dogs. She slowly began to bloom again and she regained her will to live. Cinnamon's hairless skin needs extra moisturizing and protection from the sun, so please consult with your veterinarian for guidance. Besides a quiet home, we believe she will do best in a home with other sweet dogs. As with all of the animals, she needs a lifetime commitment for love and care. Cinnamon's heart is fragile -- let's be sure she never has to experience ultimate rejection again.

Update: Sassy was adopted on July 17th! Sassy is a sensitive, beautiful young lady with extraordinary loving potential. But she is battling depression right now. Her owner died and she does not understand what has happened. Sassy needs patience and guidance in an experienced home with a stable routine to help her gain self-esteem and confidence. She is very timid due to lack of socialization, so even walking on a leash can be terrifying to her. Sassy is a Belgian Shepherd mix, spayed female, approximately three years young. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She likes other dogs, and having another dog in the home may help her adjust and overcome depression sooner. A quieter home too is ideal for her.

Update: Jack was adopted on July 3rd! Jack is battling depression. He does not know that his owner died and he is confused by not being with her anymore. He wants someone to share his love with and, ideally, his new mom and/or dad will maintain a quiet, stable home. Jack is a loyal and attractive small-to-medium-size Heinz 57, most likely with Rat Terrier & Beagle, neutered male, approximately 7 years of age. He likes other calm dogs. Adopt him and make a lifetime commitment to him joining your family, and he will reward you with his whole heart.
