Thank you for saving my babies too.

Candise is a dainty, gorgeous little lady who heartily purrs in your arms.  She is a Lynx Point Siamese, 3 years of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Candise was pregnant at the time of rescue, left behind by previous owners who moved away without her.  She shortly thereafter had four babies.  All survived and they remain in foster care until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered and ready for adoption.  Candise had a serious infection after giving birth and needed emergency medical care.  She made a full recovery and she is now ready for a loving, forever, indoor-only home.

Tender loving care in a foster home saved our fragile lives.

Update 3: Tobey was adopted on March 12th! Update 2: Monty was adopted on March 11th! Update: Sandy & Jasper were adopted on March 10th! Sandy (right) and her brothers Jasper (left), Monty & Tobey are adorable little angels, sweet as can be, debuting for adoption today. They are Pomeranian mixes and we expect them to remain small in size. They spayed/neutered and approximately 3 months of age. Please carefully puppy-proof your home & yard for their safety and protection. The Pomeranian Mix Puppies have been well-socialized in a wonderful, caring foster home since their rescue -- when just 5 days old! Needless to say, a ton of love saved these motherless pups. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship. Please be sure to plan on regular grooming care (and budget extra accordingly). [You can see pictures of Monty & Tobey are Nevada SPCA's primary web site .]

A loving foster home saved my life.

Update: Holly and Maddie were adopted on March 2nd! Maddie and her sister Holly were motherless and only 5 days old at the time of rescue, both in emergency need. The girls immediately went into foster care to be fed with eye-droppers every few hours, and fortunately, both survived. Maddie and Hollie are ready for adoption today. The girls are Pomeranian mixes and we expect them to remain small. (Their mother is a Pomeranian and their father is unknown.) They are spayed and about 3 months of age. Maddie and Holly enjoy other dogs and need regular grooming care (so please budget extra accordingly).

Despite all of the trauma, I worked hard to keep my puppies alive.

Update: Mary Jane was adopted on February 18th! Early in December, we rescued Mary Jane and her puppies when her previous owner lost the family home to foreclosure. Her 7 puppies were just a day old and very fragile! Extremely distressed in these circumstances, she nevertheless faithfully maintained her tender care for her puppies. We transferred Mary Jane and her babies into a foster home so they would have a quiet environment and the best chance for survival. Thanks to the generosity of their foster mom, and Mary Jane's maternal devotion, all 7 puppies survived. (They remain in foster care and will be ready for adoption in March or April.) Mary Jane is now spayed and ready for adoption into a forever home. She is a medium-size Terrier mix, 3 years of age. A sweetheart through and through, she is eager to please and she likes to follow you around, shadowing you for attention and reassurance. Mary Jane is compatible with other friendly dogs. Please come meet this amazing gir...

Please help me continue my recovery.

Update: Sophie was adopted on February 27th! We were asked by a local shelter to take Sophie and give her the tender loving care she needed so that she could recover from major trauma. The best guess (by us and the other shelter and her veterinarian) is that she was struck by a vehicle. Despite no broken bones, she had severe bruising across her legs and body. The most visible sign of the trauma she endured is in her left eye. She takes daily eye-drops and her eye is expected to recover, though this may take weeks, and she may not fully regain all sight in that eye (it is just too soon to tell). Sophie is a very sweet Chihuahua, spayed female, approximately 10 years of age. She loves to be held in your lap and adored. Sophie enjoys other calm dogs and a quieter lifestyle would suit her brilliantly. Sophie debuts for adoption today. Please open your heart to her, aiding in her progresses and recovery.

Adopt me for a lifetime of snuggling.

Update: Rufus was adopted on February 4th! Can a living being be any cuter than Rufu s? This tiny puppy has a big personality, which has developed beautifully thanks to tender loving care in a foster home shortly after his rescue as a newborn. Rufus is a small Terrier & Toy mix, neutered male, about 4 months of age. In his foster home he was raised with other dogs. We would love for him to have the continued companionship of having another dog to bond with and play with in his new home. Rufus debuts for adoption today.

Please give me a belly rub every day.

Update: Betsy was adopted on February 9th! Bashful, humble Betsy will surprise you with her charming, loving spirit. She was rescued running the streets, desperately, full of milk. An exhaustive search for her puppies was not successful, leading us to believe that they were either taken from her way too soon and she adventured to find them, or were born deceased and she was thrown out of her home. The bottom line is that Betsy should never have been pregnant. Bully mixes like her are the most overpopulated breeds of dogs, and the most in danger of being killed on the streets or euthanized in government shelters. Betsy's future now though is bright. She is a Bully mix, spayed female, 3 years of age, debuting for adoption today. A caring foster parent for her determined that she is compatible with cats & dogs & older children. She is even crate-trained, though it is unclear whether she is fully housetrained yet. (She is eager to please, so we think she will catch on qui...

I want to be your baby girl, but remember that I will rely completely on you for my loving care.

Update: Little Girl was adopted on January 9th! Little Girl has the sweetest, gentlest soul. She is a lovely brindle Heinz 57 with white boots, perhaps with Retriever, expected to grow to medium size. She is spayed, approximately 7 months of age, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Little Girl enjoys other friendly dogs and kind, mature children. She is partially housetrained, so a steady lifestyle routine and positive reinforcement should help complete her housetraining. At the time of rescue Little Girl was in critical condition. She had a prolapsed uterus (it was hanging out of her body) and her previous owner was unwilling or unable to have medical care provided for her. We rushed her into emergency care at a local veterinary hospital and she recovered well. Little Girl may do best in a quieter, calmer home. Though playful, she is attracted most to people with a tender touch.

I have high hopes for my new beginning.

Update: Jewels was adopted on January 9th! Jewels is indeed a sparkling, priceless gem. She loves belly rubs, cuddling, and playing fetch. Jewels is a beautiful Bully mix with soft eyes and the cutest, roundest head. She is spayed and about a year of age. She is adjusting quite well to life on three legs. At the time of rescue Jewels' left rear leg was crushed and beyond repair. We rushed her into emergency medical care at a veterinary hospital and the leg was amputated. Cheery and loving, Jewels seems not to fret for an instant about losing a limb. She is grateful to be alive and getting care, living in the moment, and hopeful for a wondrous future in a forever home.

I am told I am cuter than a Teddy Bear.

Update: Charlie was adopted on December 26th! Charlie is an adorable, loving puppy, full of spunk and pizzazz. He is a Terrier & Toy mix, with charming button eyes and a wiry white coat. He is neutered and about 5 months of age, so he is expected to remain small in size. Charlie enjoys other dogs, especially those who will play with him. At the time of rescue he was very sick with the deadly parvo virus (and his previous owner was unable or unwilling to provide him with the emergency medical care needed to save his life). Thanks to donations from caring & generous supporters of Nevada SPCA, we had extensive care provided for him and he made a full recovery. Charlie debuts for adoption today.

It is a miracle that I am alive!

Update: Peterbilt was adopted on December 14th! A trucker swerved at the last moment to barely avoid smashing the little white ball of fur lying in the middle of a freeway on-ramp. He pulled over to make sure he had avoided hitting the dog. He realized the dog was still alive, but he had previously been struck by a vehicle and was in shock. The trucker carefully removed him from the street and brought him to us hoping there was a chance to save the dog's life. Both of his back legs were severely broken/crushed and could not be fixed simply with a cast or general operation. We turned for help to an extraordinarily generous supporter. She whisked him to an advanced care specialist hospital, and after extensive treatment, they repaired both of his legs. She also paid for his ongoing therapy sessions to help him recover as much use of his legs for normal walking and functioning as possible. Peterbilt - we named him in honor of the trucker who took the compassionate first step in sa...

I can bring a little bit of heaven into your life.

Update: Flower was adopted on December 14th! Flower is a very loving puppy, full of grace and good cheer, with a beaming, sunny personality. She is a beautiful Golden Retriever mix, spayed, about 6 months of age. Flower enjoys other sweet dogs, but it is very important they do not jump on her. At the time of rescue she had a severely broken back leg, reportedly due to falling out of the bathtub. In addition, she had been exposed to the parvo virus and needed emergency care for survival. Flower required an advanced repair (FHO surgery) or she would lose her leg. This was provided to her, along with her treatment for parvo, thanks to the exceptional generosity of one of Nevada SPCA's supporters. Flower's leg repair was a success and she recovered fully from parvo. She has weekly therapy sessions (for rehabilitation) and in time she is expected to walk and run almost normally. Her owner will need to take all reasonable precautions to help her avoid re-aggravating her leg. F...

We want to live indoors with committed families who will cherish us.

Astro, Elroy & Judy are " The Jetsons Kittens " and they are now available for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Please meet and adopt them on Saturdays, beginning at 11am, when they come in with their foster mom. They are gorgeous babies, each spayed/neutered, up-to-date on major vaccines, microchipped, and tested for leukemia, and they are approximately 4 months of age. Their foster mom and our staff kept them alive thanks to tender loving care when they had an extraordinarily fragile hold on life. Their owner dumped them, mercilessly, along with their mother (Rhapsody, who is also available for adoption) when they were just a day old. All three have progressed beautifully! Astro (left) is perhaps the most outgoing and playful, while his brother Elroy (Center) may be the most affectionate, and his sister Judy (right) the most gentle. Each are beautiful little miracles in their own right and their personalities will continue to bloom and thrive in loving environments. Th...

3 pounds of love and inspiration.

Update: Lil' Bit was adopted on December 3rd! This little angel has come a long way in the past few months, thanks to loving foster care. Lil' Bit debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She has a tender soul. When joyous, she turns into a cute wiggleworm. Lil' Bit is a Teacup Chihuahua, spayed, and about 5 months of age. She is good with other gentle dogs. Her special needs are likely to continue the rest of her life. She has neurological damage, the most noticeable results of which are a slightly tilted head and spinning when excited. We do not know what caused the damage (whether an accident or from birth), but she arrived to us just a few weeks old and in emergency need of foster care. We have reason to believe she was a "throw away" from a backyard breeder who knew she was a bit different and could not command a regular puppy sales fee. If you would like to meet and consider Lil' Bit , please ask for her by name at the headquarters. (She is not...

Brotherly love.

Update: Tab & Troy were adopted together on December 12th! Tab & Troy are very bonded kittens who would be exceptional lifelong companions for one another. The brothers are affectionate, handsome, and well-socialized, thanks to loving care in a foster home. They are both neutered and approximately 7-8 months of age. Tab & Troy needed us for rescue because their owner was allergic to them. Like all of the rescued cats at Nevada SPCA, they need and require and deserve strictly indoor-only homes for their safety and protection, and so they will be proper members of the family. Please ask for Tab & Troy by name when you visit. They are expected at the headquarters' lobby on Saturday (beginning at 11am) when they come with their foster mom. Ideally, they will be adopted together in honor of their strong bond.

Your support for Nevada SPCA's animal rescue work saved my life.

Update: Fergi was adopted on November 17th! Fergi is an adorable, whimsical puppy with a very loving nature. She is a gold-colored Retriever mix, spayed, 3 months of age, and we expect her to grow to medium size. Today, Fergi's debut day for adoption, is especially precious, as this heavenly girl's life was in great danger about one month ago. At the time of rescue she was very sick with the dreaded parvo virus and her owner was unwilling or unable to provide the emergency care needed to save her life. We had intensive care provided for her, and after extensive treatment she made a full recovery. With her future now bright and full of tremendous promise, Fergi seeks a forever home with a committed, adoring new owner. Thank you to all of you who donate to support Nevada SPCA's lifesaving work for community animals in need. Fergi's treatment and recovery was possible solely due to your strong support. I only needed a simple procedure to be saved.

Update: Sweetheart was adopted on November 23rd! Appropriately named, Sweetheart is an affectionate, loving young lady who debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She is a pretty Miniature Pinscher, spayed, about 2 years of age. Sweetheart and her 7 puppies were surrendered to us because her owners feared she had a cancerous growth on her neck and they said they could not afford any treatments or medical care for her. We had a veterinarian examine her and the throat wound was deemed to be easily treatable and non-cancerous. She has since healed beautifully in a foster home. It is tragic that so many animals are given up by their families based on amateur guesses like this, related to fears of what they may be charged by a veterinarian. As in Sweetheart's case, the remedies are often simple and inexpensive. Sweetheart's puppies remain in foster care and all are thriving. Please ask for this little beauty (and ball of energy!) today at Nevada SPCA.

I am a magnificent girl with a heart of gold.

Update: Hayley was adopted on February 26th! Hayley's loving spirit is very endearing. She is a fun-loving girl who enjoys gentle people. Hayley is also reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and good with other dogs. We have mixed reports on whether she is compatible with cats. After her rescue from the Grand Canyon, she had been in foster care in association with a boarding facility near the park which made room for her (since there are no shelters in that area). We made room for her at Nevada SPCA and she is now available for adoption. Hayley is most likely a German Shepherd mix. She is spayed and about 18 months young. Please visit and ask for her by name so you can spend time with her in our courtyard. Note that Hayley is reportedly anxious around strangers, especially men.

I would have been eaten by a coyote.

Update: Redford was adopted on February 27th! Redford did not stand a chance fending for himself in a park. He is only a baby, and tame rabbits of all ages are virtually helpless prey to the coyotes, who are effectively lured into neighborhood parks because of people who ignorantly or cruelly abandon their bunnies outdoors. Redford is one of the very few domestic rabbits fortunate to survive outdoor abandonment. A kind person caught him and brought him to Nevada SPCA for care (he was approaching starvation). Redford is an exceptionally handsome Dwarf mix, about 7 months of age. He is now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. He craves affection and attention, but being picked up scares him. You can ask for Redford by name at Nevada SPCA. He is one of more than 70 spayed/neutered rabbits for adoption today. He needs and requires an indoor lifestyle where he is a loved member of the family.

Persian cats like me need extra care, please.

Image
Update: Paprika was adopted on September 16th! Paprika is a snow-white Persian with radiant orange eyes. He is an affectionate boy, content to be in your lap being held and reassured. Paprika is neutered and approximately 3 years young. Long-haired cats are very eye-catching, but we try to emphasize to adopters that these coats require regular brushing. Cats may be exceptional with self-cleaning, but long-haired cats almost always require human help with their grooming. His ideal owner will have knowledge and/or experience with the Persian breed. Paprika is ready for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.
