Jocelyn

Image
Jocelyn is a young girl who loves winning your approval with her easy charm and fun-loving spirit.  She is a beautiful blend of Border Collie and Australian Shepherd, 2 years of age and spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Jocelyn was at another shelter that ran out of space.  An active, social lifestyle is likely ideal for her, please.

Ruby

Image
Ruby , an exceptionally social girl, wants to be around people as much as possible.    She gets a blissful look on her face when she knows she is among people who accept her. Ruby is also good with other dogs. She is a medium-size Heinz 57 (28 pounds), perhaps with Border Collie, 9 years of age and spayed, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA .    Ruby was at another shelter and needed our help.    Please visit and ask for her by name.

Juno

Image
"Adopt me and you will always know you're dearly loved." Juno is a hopeful young boy politely asking for your consideration.    He is a handsome blend (reportedly Border Collie & Bully), 1 year of age and neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .    Juno was at another shelter that ran out of space.    He is compatible with some dogs, but picky about which ones he likes.    We believe Juno has the temperament to be exceptional with mature kids.

Fandango

Image
Fandango is a boisterous, joyful junior puppy asking for your kind guidance and lifetime commitment.  He is a remarkably attractive Border Collie & Australian Shepherd mix, 10 months of age and neutered, housetrained & crate-trained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Fandango needs to continue learning good behaviors in an experienced home. He was reportedly nipping other dogs and play-biting children in his previous home.

Lia

Image
Lia , a junior puppy with a beautiful soul, loves cuddling. She will lay her head on your shoulder or tuck under your chin to bond and feel reassured.  She is a medium-size blend of Border Collie or Smooth Collie with Labrador Retriever, about 5 months of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Lia was at another shelter that asked for our help because of derogatory statements made by her previous owner about her compatibility with other dogs.  Our experience is that she enjoys other sweet dogs and may love to have a big sister or brother dog for guidance. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for Lia's safety.

Ariel

Image
Ariel glows with joy and hope and she triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued this angel in December.  She was at another shelter that asked for our help due to the severe ulceration of her nose.  Since then we have had extensive care provided for Ariel and she is now on daily medication to diminish chronic skin inflammation (DLE) and needs a primarily-indoor lifestyle where she spends most of her time out of direct sunlight.  Ariel is a beautiful blend of Australian Shepherd and Border Collie, 8 years of age and spayed.  She adores people and she is compatible with some dogs.  Please share Ariel's picture to help find her a hero.

Vicki

Image
Vicki must surely be an angel on Earth, wanting to hug everyone and share her joy and kindness.  She is a vibrant Australian Shepherd & Border Collie mix, 6 years of age and spayed, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Vicki was at another shelter and needed our help.  Her left eye was malformed (by birth defect or injury) beyond repair.  Vicki has healed well from her eye removal and she is very ready to begin her new life.

Ozzie and Harriet are Border Collie & Labrador mix babies debuting for adoption today.

Image
Harriet Ozzie Ozzie and Harriet , brother and sister, are intelligent, zany-fun & super lovable babies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They are expected to grow to medium or large size, Border Collie & Labrador Retriever mix puppies, now 5 months of age and spayed/neutered.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety. At the time of rescue Ozzie and Harriet were at another shelter that asked for our help.  Please come meet and adopt them today!

Why was rage and hate directed at me?

Miranda is a very sensitive, beautiful girl who is worried someone will strike her or scream at her. Miranda has been the victim of abuse, which likely caused the old injury to her back left leg that results in occasional limping. But she is drawn to very soft-spoken people (especially if they use “baby-talk”) and she will take baby steps toward you slowly as she begins to trust you and your intentions. Please help us find her a hero. She is a medium-size Australian Shepherd & Border Collie mix, approximately 5 years of age.   We rescued Miranda from another shelter. She is good with other dogs.  In fact, another dog in the home may help her adjust.

You saved me with only minutes to spare!

Oliver is a good-natured, brilliant youngster who so longs to feel that he belongs to someone who adores him.  He is a handsome Border Collie & Australian Shepherd mix, 2 years young, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Oliver is shy with new people and in new situations, but devoted to those he knows and trusts.  We rescued this sweet boy from another shelter just in the nick of time!  Please ask for Oliver by name when you arrive.  Border Collie or Shepherd knowledge is preferred for his adoption.

Please show me how to reach my full loving potential.

Tiki's loving potential is enormous!  She is smart and eager to please, and this golden young girl craves attention and kind guidance.  Tiki is a lovely Australian Shepherd & Border Collie mix, 1 year of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Tiki needs a hero because she is quite bashful and needs more socialization.  Once she understands how she fits into this world, her personality will soar and shine.

3 Border Collie mix puppies who need a hero.

Bell Biv Devoe At the time of rescue these three sensitive baby boys were tied up on ropes on a farm/ranch outside of Las Vegas.  The farm's owner said someone had dumped them on his property. The brothers are very attractive Border Collie mixes, now 6 months of age, and neutered, and finally ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  But they need a hero (or heroes) because they were not socialized and all new people and places absolutely terrify them.  They are responding to our staff and volunteers, but progress so far is slow. We named them Bell, Biv, and Devoe .   We believe they will adjust best with another dog in the home, ideally a mature dog with a calming, maternal or paternal nature.

The Western Pups

Image
Meadow Cowboy Driver Roundup Spurs Update: All 5 babies were adopted on February 17th and 18th! We named Meadow and her four brothers ( Cowboy , Driver , Roundup , and Spurs ) " The Western Pups ". The person who surrendered them said they were "city dogs" and she was moving to the country, or vice-versa, and whatever the truth, the reality is the dogs needed us and we were happy to bring them into safety. Their mom is a Border Collie and their dad is unknown.  They are now spayed/neutered, about 4 months of age, and debuting for adoption. All five seem intelligent, a bit reserved, at least with new people, and super sweet. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong love and companionship. Also, please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.

A police officer saved my life.

Image
This athletic boy was spotted by an officer running around a dry lakebed near the California border. Knowing he would succumb to the elements or coyotes if not rescued quickly, the police officer refused to give up as this starved, emaciated Border Collie mix kept running from him. Creatively, he made a trail of bed crumbs that led into the back seat of his patrol car, and this was successful in getting the dog to leap in. Hunky Harvey is feeling better now, regaining weight with premium food, and he is ready for adoption into a loving home where he will never have to fear abandonment again. Hunky Harvey is a Border Collie mix, neutered, about 18 months of age.  He is bouncy, joyful, and intelligent, and compatible with other dogs. Please ask for him by name at Nevada SPCA so we can bring him into the adoption courtyard to meet you.

I believe I have been misunderstood.

Staff and volunteers at Nevada SPCA rave about this vivacious, intelligent, good-looking boy. George is a slender Border Collie, neutered, about 8 years of age, ready for adoption today. We are in a bit of a quandary with relaying background information.  We have conflicting information, and since some of it came from what seemed like a mean-spirited source, we have to discount anything we do not know first-hand, so questions of housetraining and compatibility with other animals is unknown. But George is eager to please and fun-loving.  He sometimes play-bites, a behavior that must be corrected in an experienced home, perhaps with the assistance of a trainer, and he needs an adult-only home to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention.  Border Collie knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred.

Is everything going to be okay for me?

Update: Maggie was adopted on December 24th! Maggie does not yet realize that she is safe.  Her eyes reveal her great apprehension and confusion. Her previous owner was hospitalized for an extended period.  Friends and neighbors took turns watching over and caring for Maggie , but it became evident that her owner was not coming home anytime soon and wished Maggie to be turned into Nevada SPCA so she could find a new owner. She is an intelligent, sweet Border Collie mix, spayed girl, about 4 years of age. Maggie is reportedly fine with cats and dogs and she is timid around men she does not know and trust. She needs a patient owner who understands that she will reassert her personality as she feels more secure and settled.

Do you seek an enchanting boy like me?

Update: Emery was adopted on November 13th! Emery's exotic good looks add to his enormous appeal, complementing his intelligence and devoted personality. We rescued him from a government shelter that had run out of space to keep him, so his background is a complete mystery. We debated among ourselves about his breed make-up, and settled on Border Collie mix as the most likely option.  But his beautiful blend of breeds not only makes him unique, but gives him piercing blue eyes.  He is neutered and just one year of age. We sing the praises of the mixed breeds, the blended breeds, who so often are skipped over when visitors search for purebreeds or puppies.  But like Emery , the Heinz 57 dogs are sparkling jewels too. Emery will do best with an active lifestyle.  Perhaps he can have a "job" to do, perhaps helping you turn out the lights at night, close the curtains, put the kids to bed, or otherwise accompany you around your house and yard to make everyth...

Sweet Pea

Image
Update: Pea was adopted on November 5th! Pea is confused about why he lost his previous home, worried that he was replaced. The stated reason at the time of surrender was that he was jealous of the grandchildren who moved into the home. Pea , though, is good with children of all ages.  He is housetrained and crate-trained too, plus compatible with cats and dogs. He is a very attractive blend of Springer Spaniel and Border Collie, a neutered male approximately 4 years of age. Please come meet this intelligent boy and spend time with him in our adoption courtyard.  He is ready to begin his new life today.

Please do not give up on me. I am just so afraid of being hurt again.

Update: Funyon was adopted on October 23rd! Speak to Funyon softly and she will gentle and humbly snuggle up with you, desperately seeking security from a world that has shown her youth such cruelty. We see tremendous loving potential in this sensitive, devoted girl. Funyon is a beautiful Border Collie mix, spayed, about 3 years of age. Severe past abuse has shattered her trust and confidence in people.   To build self-esteem she needs time and patience in an experienced, quiet, adult-only home. While there are no instant fixes to healing her soul, being with another dog (or dogs) in the home may help her adjust. Funyon is reportedly crate-trained, but has accidents when she becomes particularly terrified. Her last owners got rid of her for being "too nervous".  Her fragile, tender spirit cannot handle more rejection, so please only consider her if you are fully committed to her emotional rehabilitation.

I am quite vivacious and I need lots of daily activity.

Update: Jill was adopted on November 2nd! A brilliant and athletic girl, Jill gets bored if not given enough exercise (physical and mental) each day. This is easy enough if you can set aside daily time for walks and play, as well as include her in as many family activities as possible. Jill is a gorgeous Border Collie and Retriever mix, spayed, in her prime at 3 years young. Besides being good with other dogs, she is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and enjoys kind children. She lost her previous home due to someone in the household being allergic to her. Please ask for Jill by name at our headquarters and spend time with her in our adoption courtyard.  If you have an active lifestyle and plenty of quality time for her daily, this devoted girl may make an excellent lifelong companion for you.
