I felt so lost. All I knew to do was to run to try to escape my fears.

Update: Zoe was adopted on October 1st!

Regular readers of this blog already have seen that we are noticing a tragic escalation in recent weeks of people trying to kill their companion animals by throwing them in traffic.

Eyewitness accounts indicate these monstrous acts were indeed deliberate, not just extremely reckless and illegal abandonments.

We named the beautiful Beagle pictured here Zoe. Our staff relentlessly pursued her -- for 4 hours! -- after she was abandoned in the middle of one of Vegas' busiest streets.

Zoe was nearly crushed by vehicles numerous times. But she was so traumatized by being violently thrown away that she just kept running in traffic, with nowhere safe to go.

Zoe has been with us just a few days, but she is already starting to build confidence and self-esteem. Her heart is broken and we are trying to ease her feelings of complete loss.

Today, she debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. She is spayed and about 5 years of age.

Adopt this sweetheart and help her believe in people again. A very secure home and yard is essential for her safety. She certainly deserves to know the best of human nature from now on.
