I am learning that some people love me instead of hit me.

Last month we rescued this cute puppy who had been abandoned by her owners. She had a big attitude, obviously from severe abuse, and she growled at us to stay at least four feet away from her.

But sitting in her kennel with her quietly, and giving her regular meals and treats, led to her trusting us to touch her. With more time, came more trust, and she decided it was okay to lick us and accept hugs.

The staff nicknamed her Cruella -- playfully, due to her feisty spirit, because we always knew she would make progress with us. The name stuck, though she certainly deserves a new one upon adoption.

She is a Bully mix, spayed female, approximately four months young. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Cruella will do best if her adopter enrolls her in basic dog obedience training. She thrives with guidance and learning boundaries and proper behavior channels will be very helpful to her.

Let's be sure this little angel never gets hit or screamed at again. Now that her trust has been earned, she must never be let down.
