Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Lisa Dolly Dillan Lisa , Dolly , and Dillan are 3 of the 12 rescued kittens ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA ( www.nevadaspca.org ). Another 40 rescued kittens will be ready for adoption tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 10am! Lisa begins purring the moment you pick her up. She enjoys wrestling and playing with other kittens. She has been lovingly raised in a foster home since her rescue. Dolly and Dillan , sister and brother, have also been raised in loving foster care since their rescues. They are a bit shy with new people, but warm well to other cats and kind children.

Breeze , now triumphantly recovered from severe burns, is ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She was at another shelter and needed our help.  Breeze had reportedly been stuck in a man's car engine.  Unable to remove her, he drove the car to the shelter, resulting in her serious injuries on her back and hips.  Breeze has thrived with months of loving care from staff and volunteers.  She purrs in your arms when you hold her and follows you around to remain in your presence.  Breeze is a lovely tabby, 4 years of age and spayed.  Please visit and ask for Breeze by name.

Jane Layla Jane & Layla are baby girls who were found scavenging on the streets to try and survive. The sisters are now 5 months of age, spayed, in much better condition, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Both Jane & Layla are docile and have affectionate temperaments.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety. They are exceptional together, so though we don't generally require kittens to be adopted in pairs, our strong preference is to keep these sisters together forever. Please ask for Jane & Layla specifically by name when you visit.

Update: Dust Bunny was adopted on October 21st! Many of the homeless, motherless newborn kittens we rescued during the past few months have Dust Bunny to thank for their survival. Most arrived terrified and screaming for mothers they no longer had.  But once we fed them with eye-droppers to fill their starving bellies, we gave them to Dust Bunny , and the screaming stopped.  She pulled them close to her, licking them to both clean and comfort them, giving the babies the all-important nurturing they needed to survive.  And she stayed with them, socializing them as if they were her own. Previously, Dust Bunny was rescued herself.  One of our staff found her and her newborn kittens stuffed in a box by a dumpster.  Our staff recognized that her maternal care was exceptional, and when her own babies were old enough and needed to be separated from her (to be spayed/neutered and adopted), we asked Dust Bunny to help with a litter of motherless newborn kittens...

Update: Creamsicle was adopted on January 8th! Creamsicle was originally adopted as a kitten. But "forever" only lasted one year, reportedly due to his owner losing interest in him once he became a young adult. We look at Creamsicle and see a magnificent sweetheart who has aged/blossomed into adulthood. Perhaps adults don't chase and bat at toys as vigorously as kittens, but their loving natures have matured. One of the things our adopters mention frequently is how special it is to bond with and grow a unique relationship with a cat, based on trust and time and goodwill. Creamsicle is a friendly, loving, and especially handsome blue-cream Tabby. He is neutered, just 18 months of age, and ready for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Please adopt him and show him that humans are capable of commitment and exchanging unconditional love.

Update: Desert Rose was adopted on August 21st! Desert Rose is shy with new people, but capable of tremendous warmth with those she knows and trusts. She is inquisitive and athletic, a zippy runner, but equally pleased to curl up on the couch with you and watch TV. Desert Rose is a dusty brown tabby with spots, spayed female, 2 years young. She is polydactyl -- she has extra toes that give her paws a glove-like appearance. We rescued Desert Rose when she was abandoned by her previous owner. She is one of 200 rescued, spayed/neutered cats for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

Update: Charming Chandra was adopted on February 6th! Charming Chandra has quite a bit to say and she enjoys chatting with you pleasantly throughout the day. She is a young tabby (about one year of age) with gorgeous golden markings and light green eyes and a pink nose. She is spayed and ready for adoption today in the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms at Nevada SPCA. Charming Chandra is incredibly fortunate to be alive. One of our volunteers happened to find her, terrified, stuffed inside a box behind an industrial building. She is quite a delight, aptly named for her endearing personality and social manners. Charming Chandra needs and deserves an indoor-only home for her safety and lifelong protection.

Foxy is a very friendly young girl who was in the dangerous position of having to fend for herself outside. Fortunately, those days are over. We rescued this petite beauty and we are pursuing an indoor-only lifestyle for her in a forever home (as we do with all rescued felines). Foxy is a brown tabby with lovely golden accents. She is now spayed and about 2 years of age. She has a medium-hair coat, so please plan on at least weekly brushing and good hygiene. Foxy is one of 200 spayed/neutered, sweet cats for adoption today from Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

Athletic and tenacious, Rusty can sometimes be a handful. But this zippy youngster has a good heart and we know he will make an exceptional companion and new family member in an experienced home. Rusty is a very attractive orange tabby with white, neutered, and approximately 3 years of age. We rescued him after he was abandoned at a veterinary clinic. You can ask for Rusty by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Like all of the rescued cats, he requires a strictly indoor-only home for his lifelong safety and protection.

Update: Dart was adopted on September 14th! Dart is a bright-eyed, curious boy. He is full of wonder and anxiety for what life has in store for him. He is an exceptionally handsome red tabby with white, with distinct "racing stripes" (part of his tabby markings) cascading from both eyes. Dart is neutered and approximately 18 months young. Like all of Nevada SPCA's adoptable cats (and there are 200 ready for adoption in the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms), Dart needs and requires a strictly indoor-only home for his safety and protection. Please visit and ask for Dart by name. He is full of love.

Update: Leilani was adopted on September 21st! Leilani is a petite young lady, very sure of herself and full of character. She loves laying in window ledges to sunbathe while she naps. And she enjoys playing with toys -- both those bought from stores and those you make for her on the spot (crumpled up wads of paper, empty cardboard boxes, etc.). Leilani though gets her greatest amusements with small dogs. She entices them to wrestle and then snuggles up with them to rest. She is a beautiful brown tabby, spayed, and approximately 18 months young. We found her running the streets and trying to survive on her own in an industrial area. If your dog loves cats and wants a lifelong friend, please bring him or her with you to meet sweet little Leilani .

Update: Gracie was adopted on December 23rd! In Gracie's eyes you can still see the trauma and devastation of her extremely cruel abandonment. One of our staff found her crammed inside a small box without food or water. Underneath her were her dead newborn kittens. Gracie is all but a baby herself, just a year of age. She is a petite, gorgeous medium-hair brown tabby. With good food and care, Gracie recovered physically from the ordeal, but emotionally she is still scarred. She has a very graceful manner and endearing spirit. Gracie is now spayed and ready for adoption. She needs and deserves a very committed, lifelong, gentle, and strictly indoor-only home.

Update: Cyrus was adopted on July 15th! Cyrus has a calm, peaceful nature. He adores other cats and puts them at ease with his quiet confidence. He is a very handsome cream tabby with golden eyes and a pink nose. He is a neutered male, approximately two years young. He and numerous other adult cats and kittens lost their family when their owner's home went into foreclosure. But this may have been a blessing. None of the cats and kittens were spayed and neutered until we rescued them. It is unconscionable to allow breeding during this worst-ever over-population crisis for cats and dogs and other species in southern Nevada. Please ask for Cyrus at the front desk in the Nevada SPCA lobby. If you have room, please also consider one of his brothers or sisters too for lifelong companionship, but he can be adopted separately.
