We are celebrating our rescue work for rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, and other small animals in the brand new "Lovebugs" adoption room in Nevada SPCA's lobby. Besides hundreds of cats and dogs at our headquarters, we have more than 90 rescued rabbits, 50 gerbils and hamsters, and more than a dozen other species of domesticated animals who had been in dire need. Even if you are not ready to adopt, please visit and we will give you beginner information packs on rabbit and/or guinea pig care and talk with you about making a lifetime commitment to the animals joining your family.

You will be captivated by my docile, inquisitive nature.

Churchill is one of 14 teddy bear (or "Angora") hamsters available for adoption at Nevada SPCA. He is a plump, curious, and friendly little sweetheart, full of amusement. Many dozens of gerbils and hamsters have already been surrendered this summer, with most bringing them in telling us they just don't have the time for them or the novelty of having a "pet" has worn off. This is heart-breaking and why we emphasize so strongly that adoption is a lifetime commitment to a companion animal joining your family. Prior to adoption, please read about hamsters and their care, focusing particularly on how you can provide a safe, comfortable, and interesting living environment for them. Our staff can also help, so please visit Nevada SPCA and ask for information and guidance on care and adoption.

I am much more adorable than a toy Teddy Bear.

Update: Cookie was adopted on September 15th! Cookie loves people. He is a baby Teddy Bear hamster, male, about 3 months of age. Cookie has been socialized well, so he does not mind being handled. He seeks human contact and gets along well with other Teddy Bear hamsters too. He was reportedly dumped by his family at a retail store, where we rescued him and brought him into safety at Nevada SPCA. As with cats and dogs and other companion animals, we are seeking committed, loving forever homes for Cookie and the other Teddy Bear hamsters. So please only consider him if you can make a lifelong commitment to him joining your family, getting the care and attention he needs and deserves.

Please visit and adopt on the Fourth of July!

Nevada SPCA is open for adoptions on Saturday, July 4th, with regular hours: 11am-5pm. We have almost 200 dogs for adoption, including Anne (pictured here), who is a very sweet and unique Boxer & Pug mix, spayed female. More than 200 cats are available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Throughout July we have an adoption special on adult cats ($25 adoption fees with extra benefits). Please also visit Nevada SPCA's Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue Room to meet almost 70 bunnies (all spayed/neutered), and a half dozen guinea pigs, who are ready for adoption too. Other species available for adoption: hamsters, gerbils, pot belly pigs, birds, and a rooster. Please remember that we are also in urgent need of caring foster homes for newborn kittens. Visit the cat staff in the Cat Condos for more information on this incredibly important way to help support animal rescue.
