Extraordinary news we want to share!

Bonnie Blue Belle and her 32 siblings and cousins are now safely at Nevada SPCA. Their transfer was completed today. The next steps are working with them on socialization, getting them spayed/neutered, and preparing them for adoption in the weeks to come.

These 33 medium-size Heinz 57s with Whippet (and Beagle and other breeds), ranging from ages 2 to 6 years, were confiscated a year ago from a Nevada home and remained with authorities while their previous owner awaited trial. The owner was recently convicted of animal cruelty charges, resulting in the dogs' release.

Authorities feared the dogs were semi-feral and possibly beyond rehabilitation. But we deeply appreciate that they trusted us and gave them a chance. We have been able to handle all 33 dogs, vaccinate them, and even walk most of them on a leash without problems. They crave attention and enjoy the touch and words from staff and volunteers.

We cannot say thank you enough to the compassionate people who make this lifesaving work possible -- adopters, donors, foster parents, and volunteers. Nevada SPCA's ability to save these innocent lives is because of you.
