Wonderful update on "Zeus the Moose"

Image
Terrific update!  Zeus , a young Saint Bernard mix, was adopted earlier this year.  We love this report from his family: "Zeus wants you guys to know he is living the life! He is a couch potato, bed hog, toy hoarder who loves to run through sprinklers, rolls in the mud puddles, and break Olympic records every time he hears a bag crinkle. He is the heart and soul of our family and we could never imagine our lives without our big goofy boy. Thank you guys so much again for saving him, he is the best thing that ever happened to us. Love always , Zeus the Moose and his forever family"

Don't let anyone hurt me ever again.

Chantal is on a long, slow journey of emotional healing from severe abuse and neglect. She has seen the worst of human nature and she's terrified she will experience terror and harm again. Chantal is a darling Yorkshire Terrier mix, about 6 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. When fearful, she can reportedly be nippy, so an experienced, adult-only home is needed for her continued progress and blooming. We believe a big sister or big brother dog may help her tremendously with adjusting.

Will you let me bless you with my unconditional love?

Please help find a hero for Dixie, an exceptionally sweet 13-year-old who has lost most of her hearing. Dixie has a heavenly temperament and she is good with dogs and reportedly great with kids too.  She likes to be pampered with ice-cold water (she won't drink warm water) and enjoys light play with tennis balls and Frisbees.  She is a Labrador Retriever with a beautiful spirit, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Dixie needed us when her previous owners moved into a home where large dogs are reportedly not allowed.

Please cherish us and always keep us safe.

Freddy Kim Smith TJ Kim and her three brothers -- Freddy , Smith , and TJ -- are super cute, adorable babies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They love other cats and they are constantly improving with people too.  These kittens are now 4 months of age and spayed/neutered.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety. They were reportedly found in need behind a person's house.  We are seeking stable, loving, indoor-only, forever homes where they will treasured as valued members of a family.

Cole and Leo

Image
Cole Leo Cole and Leo are baby brothers who love to cuddle just as much as they love to play and they are debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  The boys were found when just weeks old under a house with no sign of their mother.  We placed them in a wonderful foster home for nurturing care and socialization.  Their foster mom says that Cole likes to rest on your chest and Leo prefers curling up by your neck and purring heartily.  The boys are now 3 months of age and neutered.  Please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship.

My babies still needed me when they were taken away from me.

Natalie is a very kind girl and thankfully her days of breeding and being exploited for puppies is over.  We had Natalie spayed and she is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We have mixed information on Natalie's heartbreaking background, but what seems likely is that she was bred again and gave birth about 7 weeks ago.  Her babies were reportedly taken from her too young, and sold or traded or given away as gifts, then she was surrendered to us while she was still pining for her babies.  Natalie is an affectionate Dachshund mix, 5 years of age.  She gets along beautifully with other dogs.  We want her to know that she is valued for her personality and soul, not for being used to breed puppies.

Physically, I'm well. Emotionally, I'm still recovering.

Winston is an earnest junior puppy who cannot comprehend why the world has been so cruel.  But every day the more silly and fun side of his personality is emerging and we are so proud of his progress.  Winston was found abandoned in front of a large pet food store in Las Vegas, perilously ill with parvo virus.  We had emergency veterinary care provided for him (thanks to generous donors to our advanced care fund) and Winston has now made a full recovery!  He is a cream & white Chihuahua, 11 months of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

Baba, Billy, and Maggie

Image
Baba Billy Maggie Baba , Billy , and Maggie debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are petite baby angels, rescued when just weeks old, found by a neighbor after being left behind in a vacated home.  Since their rescue the trio has been lovingly raised and socialized in a wonderful foster home.  Baba and Billy are boys and Maggie is a girl.  Their parents are suspected to be as follows: one parent a Shih-Tzu, the other parent a Chihuahua.  (There was no sign of their mom or dad in the vacated home.)  The babies are now 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and ready for responsible, stable, forever homes.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety. Baba - he is an inquisitive boy who likes to think about and study situations before engaging. Billy - he greets you jubilantly and he is fascinated the air-conditioning events on the floor. Maggie - she is an intelligent and playful girl who likes to try to keep her brothers in line.

Please always reassure me that I am loved, safe, and treasured.

Dutchess is an incredibly gorgeous and social girl ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is a tawny Ocicat, 4 years of age, spayed, and previously declawed (front feet).  (Note: Her previous owners, who surrendered her due to allergies, believed her to be a Bengal.  But based on everything, full appearance and personality, we believe she is an Ocicat.)  Dutchess likes dogs, but she is afraid of cats.  She is very affectionate and vocal, sometimes demanding petting in the wee hours of the morning, so please be ready to pamper her and satisfy her needs for frequent reassurance.

Junebug's valiant recovery from being caught in an escalator.

Image
Junebug's hind left foot with just one toe can be seen in the palm of her holder's hand (by his thumb). Junebug is a tiny, 4-pound angel who survived an enormous, horrifying trauma -- having her foot caught in an escalator -- and today she triumphantly debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. When we rescued Junebug last month at another shelter, her hind left foot was severely maimed.  We took her to a veterinary hospital for advanced care and they were able to save one of her four toes, thereby enabling her to keep her leg.  Junebug is still adjusting to the effects of the tragedy and can only walk on her hind leg for very short distances. Junebug loves to be held and reassured.  She is 2 years young, spayed, and good with other gentle dogs.  Please help us find her a hero for a most responsible and loving forever home, and a leisurely and tender lifestyle. [Note: Thank you very much to donors to Nevada SPCA's advanced veterinary care fund for making Junebug&#

Beethoven & Shia

Image
Beethoven & Shia are bright-eyed young English Springer Spaniel mixes debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  The boys were at another shelter and needed our help so they could stay together for life and get veterinary care for their ear infections.  They had been surrendered there in neglected condition with matted coats.  When together, they are overflowing with joy and curiosity about the world!  The boys are 1 year of age and neutered.  They need to remain together for life. Please help us find them a wonderful, responsible home where they will reach their full loving potential!

I began to wonder whether I was worthy of love.

Madeline's eyes reveal her worry.  We rescued her from another shelter, but she does not yet realize that she is safe.  Madeline's previous owner neglected her, perhaps for years, and we had to shave and trim away much of her coat to get rid of the knots and give her a fresh start.  Madeline deserves to know what a responsible and loving home feels like.  She is a Cocker Spaniel about 8 years of age, a spayed girl, good with other gentle dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Derek

Image
Derek is a docile, precious baby boy now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Siamese kitten, about 3 months of age and neutered.  Please kitten-proof your home for his safety. Derek was found as a motherless newborn in distress.  We placed him in a loving foster home where he was raised with a rescued newborn puppy ("Tin Tin").  Derek and Tin Tin became brothers and snuggled in each others' arms for comfort.  (Tin Tin will be ready for adoption in the weeks to come.)  Derek is very social and we want to find him a home where he will be showered with attention and quality time every day, for life.

Countess

Image
Countess prefers to be in your arms, giving you hugs or being cradled like a baby.  She is a precious young girl, 2 years of age, spayed, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Countess is great with other cats and enjoys being brushed.  At the time of rescue she was trapped inside a wall, which had to be torn open to save her.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for these amazing portraits to help Countess find a loving, indoor-only, forever home.

Angels found abandoned in a shopping cart.

Image
Beth Dean Olive Beth , Dean , and Olive are angelic babies with vibrant spirits and they are debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They were found discarded in a box in a shopping cart at a shopping center parking lot without food or water.  Beth and Olive are girls and Dean is a boy.  They are 3 months of age and now spayed/neutered.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety.  Thanks to a wonderful foster home, the kittens have been socialized well.  They love chasing each other in kittie tubes and pouncing on their toys.

Let me become your loyal boy for life.

Image
Travis is a remarkably cute boy with magical eyes and he is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He has the body of a Smooth Fox Terrier and the face of a Jack Russell Terrier.  Travis is about 6 years of age and neutered.  He adores people and bounces with high jumps straight up in the air when he's excited.  Travis is recovering from emaciation/starvation and another shelter asked for our help.  Food is of utmost seriousness to him, so he cannot be fed around other dogs.  Travis is gaining energy and weight well, and his zest for life is emerging beautifully.

Help us fit into this crazy, chaotic world.

Christopher Janet Christopher and Janet are wonderfully endearing puppies, brother and sister, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Both have gentle temperaments and they are beginning to bloom with self-esteem and confidence.  They are very attractive Australian Cattle Dog mixes, expected to grow to medium size, 8 months of age, and now spayed/neutered.  The man who surrendered them said they had come from a small nearby desert town and their past is otherwise unknown.

My soul is healing.

Image
Escondido is large, handsome youngster, a boy with a Smooth Collie face and Borzoi-like body, 2 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He gets along beautifully with other dogs.  Escondido looks at people he trusts with complete adoration, like they're pure gold.  But he is very wary of strangers and we suspect he has been the victim of abuse.  Please help find Escondido an experienced, stable home where he can awaken to the certain knowledge that he will never be hurt again.

Be gentle and patient with me, please.

Elvin, puppy, 5 months. Jacques, junior puppy, 7 months. Elvin and Jacques are very bashful puppies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Reportedly taken from a "hoarder's house", they have never walked on a leash or had even basic socialization until now.  They are 2 of the 5 taken from that home to another shelter which asked for our help.  ( You may recall Comet, Meteor, and Moonbeam, the other 3, who were featured a few days ago .)  Elvin and Jacques are both small Heinz 57s with Toy & Terrier, 5-7 months of age, neutered boys.  Ideally, we'd like to find each of them an experienced home with a big sister or big brother dog who will help them adjust and reach their full loving potential. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety.

Queenie

Image
Queenie is a brilliant, radiant Catahoula Leopard Dog mix ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is terrific with kids of all ages, housetrained, and good with other dogs.  Queenie is about 6 years of age and spayed, homeless due to the financial hardship of her previous owner.  Queenie's big challenge is reportedly her Houdini-like capabilities.  Indoors, she is reportedly calm and content.  Outdoors though, she is reportedly so determined that she can sneak out of any yard by whatever means necessary.  For Queenie's safety, we are seeking a home for her where she will never be left unattended in the backyard.

Very inspiring update on Helen!

Image
Helen, pictured at Nevada SPCA, autumn, 2012. Helen after a recent haircut. Lulu and Helen. Lulu and Helen. Faye adopted Helen in the fall of 2012 and says she has brought tremendous happiness to their family.  Faye said she was worried about bringing home a blind dog and whether Helen could manage a house with stairs.  But Faye says Helen has adapted beautifully, in part thanks to guidance from her canine sister, Lulu, and human sister, Ellie.  Faye says Helen gets around so well that she frequently forgets that Helen is blind.  Helen loves to cuddle and explore her big backyard with Lulu. Helen's original post .

Be patient with us. We want to improve and adjust.

Comet, junior puppy, neutered boy, 7 months. Meteor, junior puppy, neutered boy, 8 months. Moonbeam, young girl, spayed, 18 months. Comet , Meteor , and Moonbeam are three of the five young sweethearts we rescued from another shelter and who reportedly came from a "hoarder's home".  All are small Toy & Terrier mixes, very gentle, but quite timid due to a lack of proper socialization.  These three are now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA and we expect the other two to be ready soon as they make emotional improvements.  Based on past experience, the ideal for each is to be adopted into a home with a big sister or brother dog who will help guide them and lead them to being well-balanced, well-adjusted adults.  Please help us find each of them heroes.

Doesn't anyone want me?

Sparkle is a delightful Chihuahua mix who loves everyone and offers immense kindness.  She is photographed here with Walter , a handsome young cat who was adopted just a few hours after the portrait session at Pet'ographique this week.  Sparkle wants to join a loving forever home too.  She is about 8 years of age, spayed, and she has pretty brindle/tiger coloring.  Sparkle was found abandoned on the streets with no sign of responsible ownership.  Please visit Nevada SPCA and ask for her by name.
