Animals found hope and rehabilitation in 2009.

At a time when local animals needed us most, with the recession and home foreclosure crisis costing them their homes and families, thousands of innocent lives depended on us saving and rescuing and adopting more animals in desperate need than ever before.

Thanks to you, we succeeded.

Nevada SPCA's dog adoptions climbed 3% in 2009, and cat adoptions soared 36%!

The year was also strong with adoptions for rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, ferrets, gerbils, hamster, turtles, and the many other domesticated species rescued here at Nevada SPCA.

Our other programs for animals excelled too. We were able to reach more students and children than ever before with the Humane Education Program, we had more options for referrals to help the public find low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccines for their animals at home, and our dog training partnership with Dog-E-Mom Dog Training continued helping animals adjust to new lifestyles and remain in lifetime homes. Last but not least, our Foster Care program for special needs animals, including newborns and those battling broken bones and broken hearts, advanced and is poised for more growth in 2010.

All of these achievements were due to the generous, compassionate support of people like you. Nevada SPCA does not accept government funding or funding from national animal organizations.

We are honored that you have joined with us to respect and appreciate each animal's individuality, helping them find committed, loving forever homes so that they will never know hunger or abuse or cruelty or rejection again.

Best wishes to you and all of your loved ones for a joyful New Year, full of purpose and caring.
