Tommy

Tommy , a dear young boy surging with hope, wants to know what a loving, responsible home feels like.  He is a cute, small blend of breeds, 2 years of age, good with other dogs, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Tommy was reportedly in peril numerous times during the past 6 months due to continually escaping his previous home through a broken gate or wall. He was finally relinquished so he can be safe and find a home where he will be treasured forever.

Dallas, Dori, Geraldine, Sam, Tommy

Dallas Dori Geraldine Sam Tommy These five young Yorkshire Terrier mixes -- Dallas , Dori , Geraldine , Sam , Tommy -- needed us when their previous owner passed away. All are very sweet and affectionate. Geraldine is the most timid and she needs an especially gentle and peaceful home environment. All five are now spayed/neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . Dallas and Geraldine are girls, 2 years of age. Dori is a girl, 1 year of age. Sam and Tommy are boys, puppies, almost 5 months of age.    Please consider adopting a pair so they can have lifelong love and companionship.

Tommy , raised in a foster home with a small dog, picked up many canine behaviors, including the love of playing fetch.    Tommy loves to play -- "his little engine never stops", says his foster mom -- and he will talk to you to make sure you are participating and having fun too. Tommy is an orange-cream tabby, 4 months of age, now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.    He likes sleeping on the bed with you, making happy feet while he falls asleep.

Tommy is beginning to shine as he realizes that days of neglect and cruelty are over.  He is a young Shih-Tzu, 2 years of age, good with other dogs, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Tommy was found in poor, matted condition on the streets with no sign of responsible ownership.  He is fussy about leashes and worries about strangers. Tommy needs a gentle, stable home where his progress with trust can continue.

Abby, Teddy, Tina, and Tommy

Image
Abby Teddy Tina Tommy Abby , Teddy , Tina , and Tommy love to chase the laser pointer.  They have been well-socialized with cats, dogs, and people in a wonderful foster home since their rescue.  The babies are now 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety.

Tommy needs a hero.

Tommy is one of two dogs witnessed being abandoned in a wash. Staff and volunteers were eventually able to capture both of them. (The person who illegally abandoned them has not yet been caught.) The two dogs do not appear to be strongly bonded, so Tommy is going up for adoption today at Nevada SPCA and the second one is going up soon after recovering from surgery. Tommy is a Bully mix, 3 years young, neutered boy. Multiple signs point to a cruel past, including fear of quick movements and even missing teeth. But if you sit beside Tommy and talk in a soothing manner he first lays his head in your lap, then sneaks his paws on your legs too to get as close as he can to feel safe.  Please help find a hero for Tommy so that he only knows love and responsibility and peace from now on.

Tommy needs a loving home and asks for your consideration.  He is an earnest youngster, becoming more jovial each day as he blooms.  Tommy is a handsome Bully mix wearing a steel-grey tuxedo, 1 year of age and neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  His background is mostly unknown, but at the time of rescue he had large amounts of candle wax deeply embedded in his coat across his back.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing his sweet soul in these brand new portraits.

Tommy is remarkably thoughtful and kind.  He was at a special event last night (Party With Your Pooch) and met thousands of people and dogs, and he loved everyone!  Tommy is a gold-cream & white Chihuahua, about 5 years of age, neutered, and good with other dogs.  We rescued him from another shelter.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for these fun new portraits to help him find a forever home.

I am one of 6 Shih-Tzus who became homeless when our owner died.

Update: Tommy was adopted on November 1st! Tommy's charm emanates from his easy-going nature and innocent spirit. He is a handsome Shih-Tzu, neutered male, about 4 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Tommy is great with other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. We rescued him and 5 other Shih-Tzus from another shelter.  They had been taken there when their previous owner passed away, and unfortunately, all 6 needed dental work and grooming.  We have provided this care for them -- Tommy had a dental cleaning and 8 extractions -- and they are becoming available as their adoption preparation is completed. A quick note on dental decay.  This varies with each dog, of course, but we usually do not see this much tooth decay on young dogs unless they are eating a bulk of tablescraps instead of their dog food.  This is our speculation for these six, but we have no way of knowing what their lifestyle was previously like.  So, please...

Please do not ever hit me or scream at me.

Update: Tommy was adopted on August 10th! Tommy is a sensitive youngster with tremendous loving potential. We believe he is an Australian Terrier, approximately 3 years of age. He is neutered. We rescued Tommy from another shelter. It was clear he had been abused, either physically or through screaming, so he was placed in a foster home to begin his emotional recovery. He made progress with trust, showed that he is good with other dogs, and picked up quickly on housetraining and crate-training. Tommy needs to continue this progress in a quieter, gentle home where he never needs to fear again. Please be sure to budget extra for regular grooming care.

They were dangerously reckless with our lives.

Update #2: Alice was updated on July 24th! Update: Alice remains available for adoption. Flo, Mel, Tommy, and Vera were adopted on July 23rd! A box in a grocery store parking lot on a hot summer day. The sign on it said: "Free to good homes." Inside, Mel (pictured here) and his brothers and sisters, yipping and panting, awaiting their fates. Heat stroke and exhaustion claims lives every summer when people try to hand away animals to strangers in store parking lots and parks. Of course, that is only one of many dangers to animals who are discarded like that. We rescued the puppies and placed them in a very caring foster home to recover from the heat and receive gentle care and socialization. All began to thrive, and survived. Mel and his siblings have now been spayed and neutered and they are ready for adoption into loving, forever homes. They are Chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies, approximately 3 months of age. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopt...
