Campbell

Image
Campbell is improving every day with trust and accepting care.  She is a green iguana, adult, about 3 feet long, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Campbell's background is mostly unknown. She was injured (a minor mouth injury) and at another shelter that asked for our help.

Darcy & Elizabeth

Image
Darcy & Elizabeth are devoted soul-mates. We adopted them from another shelter to reunite them and keep them together forever. They are attractive Chihuahuas, 3 years of age, neutered boy & spayed girl, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Darcy is protective of Elizabeth and doesn't like strangers being near her unless he trusts them and approves.

Kristofer

Kristofer , quite wise at 3 years of age, likes building ever-stronger relationships with people and dogs based on time, respect, and trust.  He is a Shar Pei, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued Kristofer from another shelter.  Breed knowledge is strongly preferred for the care of his skin and wrinkles.

Our relationship will build into something heavenly through the years.

Draco is still a kitten at 10 months of age and making good progress with trusting people.  Though initially shy, he is warming to gentle volunteers and staff.  Your relationship will grow and bloom with Draco , with mutual respect, in a calm home environment.  Draco is a very cute Siamese, now neutered and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please kitten-proof your home for his safety. He is great with other cats.  Draco was rescued from the streets and his background is unknown.

My bruises healed, but my heart still aches.

Patrick's soul is wounded from abuse.  He flinches if you reach near his head.  He has learned, so cruelly, that hands can hit.  But Patrick is also learning from volunteers and staff that hands can soothe and comfort.  Patrick is now ready for a loving, forever home where his progress can continue, and he will keep emerging from his shell as he builds self-esteem and trust.  Patrick is a handsome, tuxedo Bully mix, 5 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued this sweetheart from another shelter.  Please help find Patrick a hero.

I am beautifully emerging from my shell.

What a difference a few weeks of loving care has made for Fendi . This lovely young girl had not been socialized properly, with people or other animals, and she wanted nothing to do with any of us initially.  In fact, she tried snapping at us when her previous owner handed her off. Now, trust is building, along with her self-esteem, and we believe she is seeing the world in a more colorful, kind way. Fendi is a Shiba Inu mix, spayed girl, about one year of age, triumphantly debuting for adoption today.  Her progress with trust will need to continue in her new home. She needed us because her previous owner said she had "no room" for her. Fendi is reportedly housetrained and enjoys watching TV on a blanket with you in the evenings.

Please share your kindness with me.

Update: Beauty was adopted on October 30th! We believe Beauty is on the verge of a magnificent breakthrough.  She yearns and aches to trust people, but reserves herself so that she does not get hurt again. She is a stunning young German Shepherd.  She is spayed, about 2-3 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. We do not know much about Beauty's background or what she endured.  At the time of rescue we were only told that her previous owner had become severely ill. Beauty may be best as the only dog in the home. Known for their exceptional intelligence, German Shepherds need experienced owners knowledgeable about their breed and basic dog training. Please ask for Beauty by name and spend time with her in our adoption courtyard.

I am proud of the progress I have made so far.

Update: Chewy was adopted on October 30th! Chewy has been working with us for months on his trust issues so that this very special day would arrive -- his adoption debut day. At the time of rescue he wanted nothing to do with people, resisting any human contact. But with time and a stable routine, he began letting soft-spoken staff and volunteers sit in the kennel with him. He now realizes that people can be kind, so a whole new world of potential has opened up for him. Chewy is a butterscotch Chihuahua, neutered male, 2 years young. He likes other dogs and we believe he may do best in a home with another dog (or dogs) giving him guidance. Please note that Chewy , like us all, is a "work in progress" and needs an experienced, gentle home where his progress can continue.

I yearn to feel safe and secure again.

Update: Whiskey Pete was adopted on August 24th! Full of tremendous loving potential, Whisky Pete will be a wonderful companion and family member for an experienced new owner. He is well-behaved. Besides reportedly being housetrained, he is compatible with cats and dogs. But while we do not know for sure the source of his insecurity with strangers, we do know that trust takes time and patience with him. Whisky Pete is a handsome Beagle mix, neutered male, about 3 years young. He needed us when his previous owner lost the family home to foreclosure. He debuts for adoption today. A gentle, stable home will be ideal for him.

I am so desperate to trust and love someone.

Update: Coco was adopted on December 29th! This young, beautiful girl could not understand why she was being hit and screamed at. It has shaken her perception of people to her core. Yet Coco loyally seeks out the tender touch of soft-spoken women who will hold her and reassure her and keep her safe from men. Trusting men again will take time and great patience in an experienced home with a stable routine. She requires an adult-only home and it is a strict condition of her adoption that she has no access whatsoever to young children. This is because we believe if she feels cornered or threatened she may try to nip to protect herself. Coco is a petite Dachshund, spayed, and about one year of age. She debuts for adoption today. Coco feels secure around other dogs and it may be very helpful for her to have another dog in the home (but this is not required). Dachshund knowledge and/or experience strongly preferred for her adoption.

My love is precious.

Update: Belle was adopted on June 1st! Belle loves to snuggle. She is an angelic, gentle, and sensitive Teacup Chihuahua. She is a spayed female, approximately 18 months young, and she enjoys other calm and sweet dogs. Belle needed rescue because her owner took her to a dog-sitter, but then left her there and moved away without her. Let's ensure that Belle's heart is never broken again. It now may take her longer to trust that she can give her whole heart again. A quieter, calmer home will be the best match for her. Belle is ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Please do not betray my trust.

Update: Harold was adopted on June 20th! Veterinary clinics, boarding kennels, and even grooming businesses are also experiencing dramatic increases in animals being abandoned with them. Harold, a super sweet lapcat and handsome London Tabby, was taken to a veterinary hospital under the pretenses that he would be a patient. But his owner never called again or retrieved him. After days of waiting for the person he loved most to return, Harold was terrified and confused. Despite being beyond capacity, we made room at Nevada SPCA for this quiet-natured, neutered boy who is approximately 3-5 years of age. He is ready for adoption today. Please remember that Harold and the vast majority of rescued animals who need loving homes in shelters and rescues are innocent, loving beings who have done nothing wrong to deserve the rejection they receive from the families they love and depend on.
