Bravo

Image
Bravo has not yet learned that he is magnificent and worthy of love.  He is surprised when people are nice to him and praise him with kind, sincere words.  Bravo is a young Corgi mix, 2 years of age, good with other dogs, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Stanley

Image
Looking upward is a big step for Stanley . He is so bashful and afraid of people that he holds his head low and stares at the ground hoping that nobody notices him. Stanley was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his trembling and hiding in the corner. We placed him in a kennel with a confident dog for friendship and guidance, resulting in some immediate improvement. Stanley is a small Terrier mix with a gentle soul. He is 4 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Annalise

Image
Annalise , 11 months of age, is desperate for approval. She sits a few feet away from strangers and lowers her head in submission. Once they smile and tell her she is wonderful, she relaxes and lifts her head with confidence. We don't know what Annalise endured in her previous home. She was abandoned in front of a veterinary clinic with no sign of responsible ownership. Annalise is a Shepherd mix junior puppy, good with other dogs, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety.

Camaro

Image
Camaro is a sporty young boy building confidence and self-esteem.  He is a Queensland Heeler, 3 years of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We don't know what Camaro has endured. He is head-shy and worried about new people. Camaro was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his timidity.  He has enormous loving potential in an experienced home where he can continue his improvement with trust and socialization.

I am beginning to understand that I am not worthless.

A kind man unexpectedly found this attractive young boy abandoned in the desert and told us he felt fortunate that he had found the pup before the coyotes did.  We named him Nova and he is a medium-size Heinz 57 with Shepherd or Cattle Dog, 1 year of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Nova so wants to bond with people, but he is wary of strangers.  In a stable home he will build self-esteem and confidence.  Please share Nova's picture to help him get adopted by someone wonderful and loving.

I need someone to believe in me.

Gia's previous owner admitted to neglecting her and not making enough time for her.  So Gia does not have much self-esteem  and she is confused by what people want from her.  But her loving potential is enormous and she will bloom beautifully in a stable, experienced home.  Gia is a medium-size Shar Pei mix, 2 years young, spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is reportedly housetrained and fine with mature, older kids.  Please help Gia find a hero who will help her become a well-adjusted, well-balanced dog with confidence.

All of a sudden I was dodging cars to stay alive.

Lucinda is a tender-hearted pup debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  With gentle reassurance, building self-esteem in a stable and compassionate home, she will bloom beautifully.  The world seems like a pretty scary place to Lucinda .  She was rescued near a very busy Las Vegas intersection.  Lucinda is a dainty, pretty Chihuahua, 10 months of age, now spayed, and good with other calm and sweet dogs.  Please help us find her a forever home where she can reach her full loving potential.

Do I dare ask you to love me?

Rescued from a backyard breeder and denied love while serving as a money-making machine, Bethany has almost no self-esteem.  Bethany has not yet awakened to the realization that a person can cherish her for her own self-worth.  But she is about to bloom as soon as we can find her a stable, gentle, and loving home.  Bethany is about 6 years of age, great with other dogs, and now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please help Bethany find her hero.

Is my dream of finally experiencing love about to come true?

Athena is blossoming and it is wonderful to watch her progress as she gains self-esteem. At the time of rescue she was severely matted and filthy, from neglect that must have taken more than a year to leave her in such pitiful condition, unloved and dulled in spirit. Grooming her was the easiest part, as now we are working on her rejuvenating her soul.   Staff and volunteers shower her with as much loving attention as possible and she is steadily improving and responding, letting her guard down and daring to be hopeful. Athena is a lovely Lhasa Apso mix with expressive eyes.  She is spayed, about 2 years young, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for her to keep her looking and feeling good. Athena enjoys other dogs and may do best in a home with another dog (or dogs).

Please help me build confidence in myself.

Update: Peter was adopted on December 31st! Peter tries so hard to please and he yearns to fit in and belong, but self-doubt has created an emotional wall that he needs to hurdle.  This is not uncommon with dogs who were denied proper socialization as puppies. Peter is a youngster, 2 years of age, a good-looking Australian Cattle Dog mix, neutered, and very sweet.  He debuts for adoption today. In a foster home he has learned housetraining, crate-training, and compatibility with cats and dogs and mature kids.  He has even had some basic dog obedience training. A gentle, patient home with help Peter feel secure so that his personality can continue to develop.

If you are patient with me, I will blossom beautifully.

Update: Gina was adopted on October 2nd! We rescued this lovely puppy from another shelter. She is terrified of new people and new situations, unsure of how she fits into this world and lacking in self-esteem. We named her Gina . We love her sensitive, tender-hearted nature and how she warms up once she trusts you. She is a blend of breeds, perhaps including Beagle, spayed, and about 10 months of age. Gina is making progress with our steady routine here and ready to debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Her progress will continue in your home if you are very patient and understanding with her limitations. She was not socialized properly as a puppy and it will take time for her to build confidence. At this time, a gentle home is best for her.
