Elizabeth , saved from peril, now feels so good she can't stop kissing people and playing with her toys! Elizabeth was in danger of succumbing to the parvo virus at the time of rescue. She was surrendered to us and we rushed her into emergency treatment at a veterinary hospital. Thanks to extensive care made possible by generous donations, she made a beautiful recovery. ( Elizabeth cannot be around dogs who are not up-to-date on vaccines.) Elizabeth is believed to be a Siberian Husky and Retriever mix, 3 months of age.

Elsie's remarkable survival and ongoing recovery. Post 1 of 2 this morning of dogs surviving perilous starvation and ready for nurturing foster homes to continue their recoveries. Elsie can now lift her head and even stand up for short periods of time without assistance. She is exceptionally docile and grateful for every single bit of kindness and reassurance. At the time of rescue Elsie was found so emaciated she could not even sit up. We rushed her to an animal hospital and she received intravenous fluids for several days while curled up in a soft dog bed. Elsie is now eating wet food and drinking water on her own. She cannot yet walk.     Elsie's recovery will take many weeks and we believe she will recover best in a peaceful, comfortable home environment. Miranda was found in a street, presumably run over and so fortunate to be alive.  Her left front leg is very badly broken, but veterinarians believe her leg can be saved.  Miranda needs a foster home where she can steadily and quietly heal. Janie , a rescued pregnant Aussie mix, needs a foster home please where she can birth and raise her babies. If you can help her, please visit Nevada SPCA in person and ask for Cindy. Janie wholeheartedly adores people. Since her rescue yesterday (from another shelter), she has been showering staff and volunteers with kisses of gratitude.    She is 1 year of age and wears natural "makeup" over one eye.    Janie won't tolerate other dogs at the moment, which is not uncommon since she will be having her babies soon.    Please share her pictures to help find Janie a foster hero.

Sandra with her babies, Jared and Sally Horrific tragedy has been prevented for Sandra and her babies and now they need a loving foster home.  Please share this post to help. Earlier this morning, a man and his friends heard kittens crying and determined their sounds were coming from a dumpster outside of a fast food restaurant.  He looked in and saw the babies at their mother's side.  He reached in carefully to see if mom would let him help the kittens out, and she began purring.  (Though mom could jump out, we suspect she could not get her babies out, so she remained at their side.) We named mom Sandra and her babies, Jared and Sally .  The kittens are approximately 5-6 weeks of age.  The foster commitment will be for approximately 4 weeks. Carolyn and her 7 babies, just 3 weeks of age at most, need a nurturing, loving foster home today. If you can help, please visit Nevada SPCA in person before 5pm and ask for Lara. Carolyn is a very sweet Dachshund, ab out 4 years of age. The man who brought Carolyn and her babies in said that he found Carolyn about a month ago when she was pregnant and running loose on the streets without an ID tag or microchip ID. Carolyn is an attentive mother to her 7 babies. She is fine with gentle people touching them and helping her, but she will not tolerate other animals around her babies. Dear Abby needs a foster home please.  She is pregnant, estimated to give birth in about two weeks, and needs a comfortable environment where she can raise her babies.  A 3-month foster commitment is needed.  If you can help please visit Nevada SPCA before 4pm and ask for DJ. Dear Abby has apparently been on the streets awhile, according to witnesses, scavenging for survival.  She is a small, lovely Terrier & Toy mix, 2 years young.  Dear Abby's name is based on her very proper behaviors, such as folding and unfolding her bedding and her attention to little details.  We believe she will be a very engaged and attentive mother.
