Iggy beams when he feels safe.    Sit on the floor and he'll crawl into your lap and rest his head in the palm of your hand. But fingers scare Iggy . He flinches from fast movements and fears that leashes are a form of punishment. We do not know what cruelties he endured in his previous home. Iggy is a young Chihuahua & Toy mix with tremendous loving potential. Corky , 10, youthful in spirit, shines with good cheer for children and adults he meets.    He is a Puggle, housetrained, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .    Corky reportedly needs to be the only dog in the home. He was surrendered by his previous owner who moved to another state for extensive medical treatment. She mentioned that the scarring on his face and legs was from abuse in another home early in his life, which included efforts to duct-tape Corky's mouth shut. In the years following the cruelty Corky learned to trust people, especially kids.

Kingston , a youngster recovering from a violent home when he was a puppy, devotes himself deeply to those he trusts.  He is an especially attractive American Bulldog mix, 1 year of age and neutered, good with other large dogs, housetrained, and debuting for a hero adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Kingston fears strangers and worries they want to hurt him or the people he adores.  An experienced home can help him continue to understand that he is no longer ever in danger.

Goldie's eyes reveal her desperation for kindness.  She looks to new people carefully, with both fear and hope, trying to assess their intentions.  Goldie is head-shy and we believe someone hurt her terribly in a previous home.  She is a lovely Whippet mix, 1 year young, good with other dogs, now spayed and ready for a hero adoption at Nevada SPCA .  Goldie was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her timidity.

Belle Margaret's progress is very encouraging. She no longer holds her head to the ground and her trembling stopped when we placed a canine friend in her kennel.  Belle Margaret was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her extreme fear and shaking.  We don't know what she endured, but suspect a cruel or loveless home.  Belle Margaret is a radiant, medium-size Shepherd mix, 3 years young and spayed, and debuting for a hero adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Charles is healing and learning to trust. He now sits at our sides, accepts petting and kindness, and no longer fears every hand. But Charles carefully evaluates strangers and worries they have intentions to hurt him. We don't know what he endured, but suspect he sustained severe violence in a previous home. Charles is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix with golden eyes, 4 years of age and neutered, debuting for a hero adoption today at Nevada SPCA . He was at another shelter that asked for our help with his emotional needs.

Appleton is a tiny baby boy desperate for kindness.    We do not know what he endured, but he screams when strangers touch him. In gentle and familiar arms, he coos and relaxes. Appleton is a precious Chihuahua & Miniature Pinscher puppy, 3 months of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .    He feels comfortable around other dogs and likes to follow in their footsteps.

Brock's face reveals deep emotional pain.    He has known cruelty and ultimate rejection. He was found tied to a tree and abandoned. He flinches from fast hand movements. Brock is a sensitive Mastiff mix pleading for a gentle hero he can devote himself to loving.    He is 5 years of age, neutered, and ready for a hero adoption at Nevada SPCA . An adult-only home is required at this time due to his fear of new people.

Christian intently assesses new people to determine whether they intend to hurt him. He is docile and wants to run if he's unsure.  We do not know what Christian has endured, but he exhibits the emotional scars that usually come from being in a cruel, loveless home.  Please be patient with him as he comes to learn and understand what a magnificent boy he is.  Christian is a Labrador Retriever & Flat-Coated Retriever mix, 3 years young, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  He was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his timidity.

Glory kisses the cheeks of women who are very kind and gentle with her.    She is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, 4 years of age and spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . We rescued Glory from another shelter where she was trembling. She is terrified of men and sometimes hides her face in their presence hoping they don't notice her. We do not know what Glory has endured.    She wants to believe in people and responds beautifully to soft, reassuring voices.

Phoebe , 3, yearns for peace-of-mind.    A cruelty survivor, she remembers the abuse in her nightmares and frequently cries, screams, and growls in her sleep. (Please wake her with lights or noise, rather than by touch, to avoid an unintended nip/snap.) Phoebe is a tender-hearted girl with tremendous loving potential. She is a Chihuahua mix, spayed, 3 years of age, housetrained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .   Phoebe is good with other dogs (as long as meals and treats are fed to her when she is alone).

The pain in Monarch's young face is heartbreaking. He begs everyone he meets not to hurt him.  We can only imagine what this sensitive boy endured. Monarch is beginning to realize he is safe and he is improving with trust. He is drawn to soft-spoken, gentle people.  Monarch is a Chihuahua & Miniature Pinscher mix, 2 years of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  We rescued him from another shelter that asked for our help due to his traumatic past.

Candi wants to know she is safe, accepted, cherished, and a valued member of a forever family. At the time of rescue, this young Maltese mix was found injured in a street from being run over by a car. Miraculously, she survived without life-threatening injuries.    After weeks of healing, Candi is now well and spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA . Candi is good with other dogs, but fearful of people. She lets gentle and soft-spoken people hold her, but quick movements around her head terrify her and she may scream. Her thundershirt (worn in this picture) seems to help Candi feel better at ease. She will likely thrive best in a home with a big sister or brother dog.    Please help us find her a lifelong hero.

Brynner , 9, intently looks at new people to see if they intend him kindness or harm. Once he trusts that it is the former, he calms and begins to bond.    Brynner needs to finally know what a loving and peaceful home feels like. He is 1 of 25 animals Nevada SPCA has rescued so far from a large animal organization that collapsed in the region. He and six others, already rescued and here now too, were the least socialized and most fearful of the entire group. We are encouraged by their baby steps of improvement so far and know that with the dedication of staff and volunteers that all will continue their progress and find loving homes with heroes. Brynner is a handsome, medium-size Heinz 57 with Queensland Heeler and Aussie Shepherd. He is neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Da Vinci , brilliant and quirky, hopes someone wonderful can see his tremendous potential. He is a Toy & Chihuahua with a curly-Q tail, 2 years young, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . Da Vinci was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his violent past.  He is no-nonsense with strangers, assessing their intentions, but joyful with dogs and people he knows and trusts. Da Vinci is improving. His progress needs to continue with a hero who will provide a calm, stable, steady routine which he can flourish in.

Michelangelo is a young boy with eyes revealing the pain he has endured. Physically he is well, but emotionally he worries that people want to hurt him. He is improving daily, and this progress needs to continue with a hero in a very gentle home. Michelangelo is a Dachshund mix, 2 years of age, housetrained, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We believe he may adjust best with other dogs. Michelangelo was reportedly in an unstable home, so please be sure to give him a very steady lifestyle routine that he can count on (to help establish a sense of order and peace).

Princeton overflows with happiness when he feels safe and trusts the person holding him.  He is a charismatic junior puppy, a blend of Catahoula Leopard & Shepherd, 10 months of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Princeton was at another shelter that asked for our help because he is head-shy and fearful of hands and feet (being struck or kicked).  He is ready to bloom in an experienced, peaceful, loving home.

Andy , a very tiny 4-pound sweetheart, longs for someone gentle and nurturing to show him only the best of human nature from now on.  He is recovering from cruelty and worries that people want to hurt him.  Andy is improving a bit more each day and he has enormous loving potential.  He is a Chihuahua, 5 years of age, great with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Winzig , a tiny little "firecracker" with enormous loving potential, longs for a peaceful home with a stable lifestyle routine. Winzig likes being around other dogs. But he is not at all sure he wants anything more to do with humans. We don't know what Winzig has endured, but all indications suggest a dreadful and traumatic previous home environment. He is intolerant of anyone reaching for him until he has decided he trusts them.    Winzig needs a hero with extraordinary patience and understanding. He is a Chihuahua, 3 years young, crate-trained, and now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

Michelangelo is beginning to lift his head and hope. At the time of rescue he was at another shelter, hunching his shoulders and keeping his face near the ground, hoping no one would notice him. Quick movements scare him and there are additional signs that he was betrayed with violence in his previous home. Michangelo is 2 years young, a Terrier & Toy mix, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    He is good with other dogs. We believe he may continue to adjust best in a home with a big sister or brother dog.
