Pearl

Pearl , 12, so precious and loving, is recovering well from severe neglect and ready for her fresh start.  She is a Miniature Schnauzer with enormous love and gratitude to share.  Pearl is great with other dogs, housetrained & crate-trained, fine with older kids, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  She needed us when her previous owners moved away without her.  Pearl was in very poor condition at the time of rescue. Since then we put her on a premium probiotic food plan, groomed her, and had her back wound repaired (and growth removed).  Please give this sweetheart senior your consideration.

Pearl just rescued and "Giving Tuesday"

Thank you very much to all of you donating for animal rescue today on "Giving Tuesday", an international day of empowerment and kindness expressed through charitable giving.    Online donations to Nevada SPCA are being matched and doubled by very generous donors through midnight tonight! Pearl was just rescued from peril on a freeway. She is 9 years of age, a Beagle mix, with no sign of responsible ownership, and we can only imagine how she ended up on a busy freeway. Pearl leaped into Wayne's arms, accepting his kindness, and feeling safe. (We will continue trying to find a previous owner for her for the next 72 hours.) If you would like to participate in "Giving Tuesday" with a donation of your choice, please click here for Nevada SPCA's donation page .    Thank you!

Pearl craves attention and kisses people who comfort and care for her.    She is a beautiful baby girl, perhaps an Australian Shepherd mix, about 5 months of age and spayed, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety. Pearl was at another shelter that asked for our help. She had been the victim of severe neglect -- you can see the scarring/maiming of her ears from insects and the elements.    This included missing meals and knowing desperate hunger, so Pearl can be intense about food and reportedly won't tolerate another dog around her food bowl.    She has enormous loving potential and needs a very stable lifestyle routine to realize that she'll never go hungry or deprived again.

Bessy, Henrietta, Jenny, Pearl, and Polly

Image
Bessy Henrietta Jenny Pearl Polly These 5 darling girls -- Bessy , Henrietta , Jenny , Pearl , and Polly -- are friendly guinea pigs ready for adoption in the Lovebugs Room at Nevada SPCA.  They range in age from 8 months to 2 years. Almost nothing is known about their past except that they were abandoned in a 'night drop' at another shelter, which in turn asked for our help.  The girls squeal in delight for their daily fresh salads and Timothy hay.   Guinea pigs are very social animals and they need to be adopted in pairs, a trio, or altogether (so that each goes home with at least one lifelong companion/sister).  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for their portraits.

Amethyst, Garnet, Pearl & Steven

Image
Amethyst Garnet Pearl Steven Amethyst , Garnet , and Pearl , and their brother Steven , debut for adoption on Independence Day at 10am at Nevada SPCA.  Since their rescue from a parking lot, the babies have been lovingly raised and socialized in a foster home.  Their foster mom, Mel, took these terrific pictures and described them as follows: Amethyst is the wise one who lets the others get into adventures or trouble first, Garnet purrs day & night when playing or sleeping, Pearl is so loving she does 'happy feet' for hours at a time, and Steven is the athlete who chases and catches all of the toys.  The kittens are now 3 months of age and spayed/neutered.  Please consider adopting a pair for lifetime love and companionship.

We are treasures, not trash.

Pearl Topaz In the early afternoon of September 9, a woman was witnessed throwing a purple suitcase (below) into the dumpster of a veterinary hospital. Later that afternoon, as staff approached the dumpster, they could hear faint screams and cries.  They were horrified to realize the sounds of terror were coming from the purple suitcase and they rushed to retrieve it.  They unzipped it and found two cats inside in severe heat distress and trauma.  They urgently cooled the cats and saved them from heat stroke. For the past 10 weeks, the cats -- now named Pearl and Topaz -- have been recovering well from dehydration.  They are now healthy, spayed/neutered, and triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Pet'ographique generously helped us celebrate their recoveries with these elegant portraits to emphasize that they are treasures, not trash. Pearl is a graceful young grey & white shorthair with jewel-like eyes, about 3 years of age...

They broke my heart.

Update: Pearl was adopted on January 11th! Pearl is indeed a bright, sparkling gem. She is a medium-size Heinz 57 with Australian Shepherd and Retriever. She is spayed, about 6 years of age, and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Pearl was found on the streets. When her owner was found (through an unregistered microchip ID), the owner said she was unwanted and refused to reclaim her. Surely this is for the best. Pearl deserves much better. She shows some classic signs of at least mild abuse, weary and cautious with new people. But with those Pearl trusts, she is very warm-hearted and willing to shine joy your way. Please adopt Pear l and ensure she only sees the best of human nature from now on.
