Maxine likes resting her paws on people and asking for their praise and kindness.  She worries that strangers don't like her and fears being picked up. We don't know what she has endured.  Maxine is a Spaniel & Toy mix with a shining smile, 3 years young and spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  She was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her trembling. We placed Maxine with a confident kennel-mate and she quickly felt at ease.

Maxine is a luminous, vibrant young girl with an easy smile and tremendous enthusiasm for adventure.    She is a German Shepherd & Siberian Husky mix with sky-blue eyes, 1 year of age, good with large dogs, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA . Maxine was found and captured in the parking lot of a large department store. She had no sign whatsoever of responsible ownership (no ID tag, no microchip ID, not spayed).    Maxine deserves a stable, responsible, experienced home where she will always be safe and where her play-biting will be corrected.

I despaired for my babies when we were abandoned, but a loving foster home was our miracle.

Update: Maxine has been adopted! Maxine is an angelic, cuddly young girl debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Maxine and her four newborns (just days old) were dumped at a police station in January. We placed Maxine and her babies in a loving foster home so she could raise and nurture them in peace and comfort. Maxine is now spayed and ready for a forever home.  Her babies remain in foster care but will soon be ready for adoption too. Maxine is a beautiful, petite Toy & Terrier mix, 1 year of age, housetrained, crate-trained, and compatible with cats and dogs. She loves to snuggle and play fetch.

Baby Gretchen, July 2013 Baby Gretchen, now named Nilla Wafer, July 2013 Baby Gretchen being watched over by big sister Maxine Maxine and Baby Gretchen You may remember Baby Gretchen , the newborn (1 week old) rescued in the spring with very severe lacerations to her hind left leg.  During an emergency surgery, an advanced medical care clinic in Las Vegas was able to save her life and amputate her leg. Baby Gretchen has since been in a very loving foster home with a foster mom, Jennifer, and a big sister, Maxine.  In June, we shared Jennifer's video of Baby Gretchen in a life vest, swimming in her pool to strength her other three legs (please see the video again below). Baby Gretchen has now been adopted by her foster mom! Jennifer says that Baby Gretchen (now named Nilla Wafer) loves to charge out from under the bed to play with Maxine, then dash back under.  She also loves playing hide-and-seek in the backyard. Maxine and Baby Gretchen ...

Update: Maxine was adopted on July 12th! Innocent little Maxine is a humble, sweet, gentle girl. But she was ravaged by the dog breeding industry, exploited by greed and denied the proper care and socialization she needed and deserved. We rescued her from a puppy mill. And for many months now we have been providing medical care to her so that this special day could arrive -- the day she debuts for adoption. Maxine is a Shih-Tzu, 4 years of age. She is now spayed and awaiting the discovery of what true love and commitment from a human will mean to her life. Maxine likes other friendly dogs and she needs regular professional grooming care. Never in a loving home before, she requires your great patience and good guidance to complete housetraining and adjust to living predominantly indoors as a cherished member of the family. Maxine has come a very long way medically. We had her mammary tumors removed and treated her chronic ear infections. But she still needs daily medication and ...

I need someone new to love me.
