Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Leon , a youngster so grateful for kindness and care, is changing the way he views and understands people. Weeks ago Leon was found frightened in a family's garage, ill and neglected, trying to find shelter. Since then he has recovered well. We have Leon on a premium meal plan and shaved away all of his knots and tangles. He is bonding here well with people and dogs. Leon is now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. He is a Lhasa Apso & Maltese mix, 2 years of age, and eager to have someone to love unconditionally.

Abigail likes giving you doggie kisses when you talk sweet. She is adjusting fine to life on 3 legs. At the time of rescue she was at another shelter with a hind leg maimed and broken beyond repair (from massive unknown trauma). Abigail is a Maltese & Toy mix (10 pounds), 1 year young, a spayed girl, good with other dogs, now debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Virtue, now healing. Virtue, day of rescue. Virtue is now shaved down, eating premium food, spayed, and up-to-date on vaccines. Emotionally though, her healing will take much, much longer.    In addition to the extreme neglect, Virtue reportedly witnessed horrors that have traumatized her and resulted in a deep fear of people. Virtue is a Maltese & Toy Poodle mix, 8 years of age, and debuting for a hero adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    She is compatible with cats and dogs (and we believe she is likely to adjust best in a home with a big sister or brother dog).    When very fearful, she is nippy, so an experienced, adult-only home is essential for her continued progress.

Cotton & Mona Lisa , humble and well-behaved girls, politely ask for a new home where they can remain together forever.  Both are housetrained and compatible with cats, dogs, and kids.  Cotton is 5 years of age, a Terrier & Toy mix. Mona Lisa is a Maltese, 10 years of age.  The girls are completely devoted to one another, but still certainly have plenty more love for you.

Princess is a thoughtful little girl ready to bless someone with her unconditional devotion.  She is a Malt-Tzu (Maltese & Shih-Tzu mix), 12 years of age and spayed, good with other gentle dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Princess survived severe neglect, and likely worse.  At the time of rescue she was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her broken elbow and severe dental problems.  Princess is now healed and we had dental care provided for her (cleaning and 9 teeth extractions).  Please come meet Princess and let her steal your heart. 

Piccadilly is a tiny gentleman (4.6 pounds) who needs a loving, stable home. He is a Maltese, about 10 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Piccadilly loves gentle people and friendly dogs.  Please plan and budget for regular professional grooming. He was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his severe neglect and dental needs. Piccadilly's matted coat has been shaved away and a dozen of his teeth were extracted.  He is now ready for a fresh start!

Grace is an adorable puppy who craves attention and she likes to play fetch.  She is a Malti-Poo (Maltese & Poodle mix) wearing a natural tuxedo, spayed girl, 10 months of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety. Grace is reportedly housetrained and good with older, mature kids.  Grace lost her previous home for not getting along with another dog.  But she was not spayed at the time (and she is now spayed) and our experience is that she is compatible with most dogs.  Please plan and budget for regular professional grooming for her.

Hulk Tugboat Hulk and Tugboat are adorable, playful baby brothers with loving, kind spirits. The boys are reportedly Schnauzer & Maltese mixes, about 5 months of age.  They are now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Hulk and Tugboat needed us because their previous owner said she "could not get rid of" them. Please plan on regular professional grooming and puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection. The boys can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship.

Dymin needed us when one of her owners passed away and the other became too ill to care for her any further. Dymin is a gorgeous Maltese, very affectionate and loving (with adults), spayed, housetrained, about 3 years of age. Her previous owner admitted to spoiling her on an extreme level, perhaps causing some eccentricities and behavior issues.  For example, Dymin won't eat her kibble unless you mix in warm water to soften it up.  (She has a special diet for food allergies.)  Also, she won't tolerate kids or large dogs.  Apparently, she was previously attacked by a large dog, so if she sees a large dog she tries for a preemptive attack first. Dymin loves to be in your lap and she is used to nearly constant attention.  We believe she will do best in a home where her guardian(s) are home most of the time, and willing and able to devote lots of adoration to her.  Please also plan and budget for regular professional grooming care.

Wisteria was naturally perfect, the way God intended her, yet someone dyed her ears and tail purple. It's a real shame because it will take months for the dye to come out.  Worse, her previous owner was breeding her for puppies and she was found with no sign of responsible ownership (no tags or microchip ID).  Wisteria deserves better, and with your help we'll find her an amazing home.  Wisteria is a Maltese & Shih-Tzu mix, spayed girl, about 4 years of age, good with dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Hula Hoop earns her name with her excitable, wiggly dance!  She is a precious Malti-Poo puppy (Maltese & Toy Poodle), spayed girl, 3 months of age, ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. At the time of rescue she was very sick with the deadly parvo virus.  We had extensive medical care provided for her and she triumphantly made a full recovery!

This precious angel triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Lullaby is a loving, adorable Maltese, spayed girl, one year young.  Please plan on regular professional grooming care and budget accordingly. She is good with people and small dogs. At the time of rescue Lullaby had been attacked and shook by a bigger dog. Her puncture wounds have now healed and she is ready to join a gentle, forever home.

Dandy Iris Pansy Petunia Update: All three have been adopted! Dandy and his sisters ( Iris , Pansy , and Petunia ) are nicknamed " Flower Children " and they are the baby angels of Daisy , their mom, who was previously featured on this site and adopted last month. They are Maltese mixes, spayed/neutered, about 4 months of age, ready for adoption today. The Flower Children are the surviving 4 puppies from an extremely neglectful previous home.  Daisy was banished to living outdoors in the winter cold.  She dug a hole to try and save her newborn babies, but 3 of her 7 pups "froze to death". The Flower Children are precious, loving, tender-hearted angels. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong love and companionship. Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.  And please plan and budget for regular professional grooming care.

Update: Daisy was adopted on February 25th! The plight of this angel ripped our hearts out.  We are blessed to have her (and her surviving pups) here at Nevada SPCA, safe now, and ever-after (once adopted into a loving forever home), so she (and the pups too) can be shown the kinder side of human nature. Daisy is a Maltese mix with ethereal hazel eyes, spayed girl, about 18 months of age. At the time of rescue she was in a filthy, wet backyard with her 4 newborn puppies.  Forced to live outside, she had dug a large hole in the ground to try and keep her puppies warm.  But her previous owner said 3 of her original 7 babies had "froze to death".  When questioned why he had acted so cruelly and neglectfully, he said he "didn't want no babies" and that when he took Daisy from a friend he did not know she was pregnant. Scruffy is a frisky, social young boy, as adorable as they come with a loving nature. He is reportedly a "Morkie" -- a Maltese & Yorkshire Terrier mix.  He is neutered, about 3 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Scruffy needed us when his previous owner became too ill to care for him.  He is great with other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.  He is reportedly housetrained, but only with a doggie door and may otherwise have accidents, so your patience and guidance may be needed. Also, Scruffy reportedly has separation anxiety and gets distressed when you leave even for short periods of time.  An experienced owner is needed to help curb this anxiety, and while there are no instant fixes, in time as he feels more secure his anxiety will diminish.

Ira Rasta Update 2: Rasta was adopted on January 15th! Update: Ira was adopted on January 14th! Ira and Rasta are now safe and free from the monster who neglected them so severely that their coats were not just filthy, but knotted and tangled painfully across their bodies.  If their previous owner could be found he or she would be subject to animal cruelty charges. Now shaved down and eating nutritious food and being tended to, our focus is on their emotional recoveries.  The long-term deprivation they endured has badly damaged their confidence.  Ira still will not lift up her chin when she walks or when we hold her. Update: Vanilla Bean was adopted on December 18th! Vanilla Bean is a precious youngster, still a puppy at 9 months of age, who will do best in a quiet, stable home. Though shy with strangers, he is very loving and warm with those he knows and trusts. Vanilla Bean is reportedly a Malti-Poo (Maltese & Poodle mix).  He is a neutered boy, debuting for adoption today. He needed us because someone in his previous home was allergic to him. Vanilla Bean is great with friendly dogs and he is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and fine with older children. Please puppy-proof your home for his safety and plan on regular professional grooming care for him.

Doug and Pilot Update 2: Pilot was adopted on December 18th! Update: Doug was adopted on December 17th! It is enormously gratifying for us to watch these cheery, wiggly, zany puppies bursting with life, able to share their unconditional love -- the world's greatest gift -- with nurturing, committed people who will adopt them. Doug and Pilot are Maltese & Shih Tzu mix puppies, neutered boys, about 4 months of age.  They debut for adoption today. They can be adopted separately, but please consider taking them as a pair and keeping the brothers together forever. Last month we rescued Doug , who was ill with the dreaded parvo virus.  He needed emergency medical care to save his life, but his previous owner was unwilling or unable to help him. Update: Stanley was adopted on November 9th! Stanley was running out of time and hope, left behind in a foreclosed home for a full 2 weeks before he was finally rescued by a compassionate neighbor who realized he was still inside.  She brought him to us for care and comfort, and to find him a forever home. He is an angel.  His gentle, loving spirit melts your heart. Stanley is a Maltese, neutered male, about 3 years of age, and he debuts for adoption today. He is compatible with other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care (please budget extra accordingly). Understandably, his faith in people has been deeply shaken.  But he yearns for a tender touch and a committed owner who will cherish him, and never discard him.

Update: Prissy was adopted on November 8th! This young lady is full of character and pizzazz.  Get ready for her to melt your heart. Prissy delights in dancing with swimming motions in the air with her front paws.  She will also stand on her hind legs to make it easier for you to pick her up for snuggling.
