Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Thanks to you and other caring people, animals seemingly without any hope left at all, like Godiva , can make triumphant and beautiful recoveries, and learn that humans are capable of nurturing and kindness. Godiva is a friendly Rex bunny with a warm spirit, 3 years of age, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  At the time of rescue she was found abandoned in an apartment complex, chemically burned across much of her back and body with open wounds.  (We decided not to show her "before" picture, for many reasons, including the children who visit our pages, but will share it with potential adopters who wish to see it to get a better sense of what she endured.)  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing Godiva's progress and sweet soul in these portraits.

Godiva's foster parents say she loves blowing bubbles while lounging in the pool. Godiva always sleeps and naps on her back, as carefree as can be. At the time of Godiva's rescue from another shelter in May, she was dangerously emaciated from starvation, weighing just 31 pounds.  ( To see her dramatic improvement, please compare these pictures to Godiva's original post. ) 60 days later, thriving in a loving foster home, she is now 51 pounds and doing so beautifully that she is almost unrecognizable. Special thanks to Mark & Angie, her foster parents, as well as Godiva's two big siblings (both are also Bullies). Foster home needed please!  Godiva , a Bully mix rescued earlier this month from starvation, needs a new foster home for continuing tender loving care and recovery.  Her previous foster mom did a beautiful job with her, helping her gain more than 5 pounds in just the past two weeks.  Godiva has now gained 11 pounds since her rescue (31 pounds to 42 pounds)!  She is standing up better, wagging her tail every time she sees a familiar face, and beginning to give us some smiles.  Perhaps due in part to her near death from extreme emaciation, Godiva is diabetic and requires daily insulin shots.  If you can foster Godiva , please visit Nevada SPCA today before 5pm and ask for DJ.  Thank you in advance for sharing this post to help Godiva find a hero.

A foster home and foster hero needed please.  Godiva has wonderfully gained almost 6 pounds since this photo was taken on the day of her rescue a couple of weeks ago! She has been hospitalized since then, getting IV fluids.  Her blood tests have been encouraging, despite her diabetes.  Because of her progress and her insulin levels are now stable with twice-daily shots, the veterinarians say Godiva is now ready for a foster home to continue her recovery.  Godiva needs to safely and steadily gain an additional 15 pounds or so before she is ready for adoption.  She is an incredibly sweet Bully mix, 1 year of age, and her tail always wagged when we sat with her and comforted her, even when she was too weak to want to lift her head.
