Please don't let anyone hurt me ever again.

Image
Christina was found abandoned on the streets. It's clear she has seen the worst of human nature.  She looks at strangers carefully to assess whether they intend her further violence.  But Christina has tremendous loving potential and her emotional healing is already under way, thanks to dedicated volunteers.  Christina is good with other dogs and we believe a big brother or sister dog can help her adjust.  She is a beautiful German Shepherd mix (we believe 75% German Shepherd), 2 years young, now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please help us find a hero for Christina .

I want to share my happiness with you.

Please help find a hero for Elvis , a remarkably sweet and happy young boy who needs a low-stress lifestyle and home environment.  He is a small Terrier mix, 3 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Elvis is mentally challenged and panics if you try to pick him up or touch his back when he is feeling anxious.  Veterinarians are not sure whether he has a development disability or if he sustained mild brain damage from head trauma earlier in his life.  Elvis gets along very well with other dogs in small groups and, for the most part, will be able to lead an ordinary and meaningful and fulfilling life.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing his cheerful spirit in this brand new portrait.

Sadie and Sophie

Image
Sadie Sophie     Sadie and Sophie are darling baby girls debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are two of four dogs found abandoned in a park.  We believe the other two are their parents -- their mother, who is pregnant again, a Longhair Chihuahua mix, is in a foster home -- and their father, a tiny 5-pound Chihuahua who will be ready for adoption soon.  Sadie and Sophie are gentle and loving, about 6 months of age and now spayed. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship.

Wolfgang

Image
Wolfgang is a tiny, 4-pound boy found injured near one of the busiest avenues in Las Vegas and he had no sign of responsible ownership.  X-rays showed that the break in his hind right leg was so severe that even surgical remodeling would not likely be able to save his leg.  Wolfgang is adjusting to life on three legs and he triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is a cute Chihuahua, about 7 years of age and now neutered.  Wolfgang is great with other dogs, but he can be fussy with people so an experienced, adult-only home is ideal.

You need to meet me!

Image
Foxy is a social butterfly who craves attention, walks, and being in your presence as much as possible.  She is a gorgeous, snow-white Siberian Husky, 4 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Foxy gets along well with other dogs too.  At the time of rescue she had a severe, long diagonal laceration across her right eye and it was terribly infected.  She is adjusting fine to life with one eye and eager to become a cherished member of a loving, forever home.

I just don't want to be hurt anymore.

Image
Ranger's adjustment to life on three legs is much simpler than his recovery from cruelty and abuse.  We rescued this young boy from another shelter and extreme trauma had injured his right front leg beyond repair.  Ranger is worried that if he trusts the wrong person that he will become victimized by violence yet again.  But volunteers and staff are succeeding in helping him feel safe and he's beginning to bloom.  Ranger is an attractive Chihuahua mix, 2 years of age, neutered, very good with other dogs, and he is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA and seeking a hero to help his emotional healing continue.

I have so much love, but it was not enough to hold my previous family together.

Image
Olivia is a snow-white Akita who beams with good cheer!  She is reportedly housetrained and good with mature kids.  Olivia is 8 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We don't know how or why her right ear was severed.  Olivia reportedly won't tolerate anyone threatening or angry around someone she loves.  Also, she reportedly may be fine with other dogs in public, but too protective of the home to share her family with another dog.  Akita knowledge is a must for her adoption.  Olivia's previous owner cited a "broken home" as the reason for surrendering her.

Spanky & Tamrin reunited!

Image
Spanky & Tamrin are now reunited soul-mates, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We rescued Spanky , a gentle 10-year-old Dachshund, from another shelter. Three days later the shelter called and said that young Tamrin , a 4-year-old Dachshund, had been crying for him for 3 straight days and stopped eating. We were shocked to learn that Spanky even had a partner and immediately agreed to rescue Tamrin so they could be reunited. We later learned that the pair had been confiscated from a home, suggesting they endured a terrible past and forged an especially strong bond by relying on each other for emotional support. Spanky & Tamrin are together forever and we ask for your help in finding them a wonderful, stable, loving forever home.

Can you help my heart heal?

Richard's feelings of worthlessness won't go away instantly.  But he is improving every day from very severe neglect.  Richard is a sensitive, adorable Cockapoo, 1 year young, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is good with other dogs and may benefit greatly from a big brother or sister dog to help him adjust.  Richard was in deplorable condition at another shelter that asked for our help because of his timidity.  We want to find Richard a stable, peaceful home where he can continue blooming.

I'm so ready for a new life!

Image
Hewey is a vibrant youngster who loves to shower your face with doggie kisses!  He's progressed very well since his rescue when was in acute pain from a severely broken right front leg that could not be saved (an injury consistent with extreme trauma, such as being hit by a vehicle or falling from a roof).  Hewey bounces around joyfully on three legs, happy to no longer be suffering.  He is a chocolate & cream Chihuahua, 1 year of age, neutered, good with dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Do I fit into this world?

Image
Crixus has moments where he looks so sad and lost, but each day he is getting more secure and playful.  We don't know what this baby boy endured.  He was found abandoned near a busy Vegas intersection with no sign of responsible ownership.  We believe Crixus is a blend of many breeds, likely including Bully and Mastiff, growing to large size.  His nose and jaw tilt slightly left, which we thinks gives extra character to his facial expressions.  Crixus is 3-4 months of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

We are desperate for love.

Image
Hercules and Bentley, baby brothers Hercules Bentley Hercules and Bentley are super cute baby boys debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Both are playful and eager for acceptance.  The boys are most likely Bully & Labrador Retriever mixes, perhaps with another Sporting Dog breed, and they are expected to grow to at least medium size (and most likely large size).  They are 4 months of age and neutered.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship. Their background is mostly unknown except that police had to confiscate them from their previous home.  We want them to know a lifetime of love in a stable, responsible forever home.

Surrogate parents are heroes saving fragile lives desperate for kindness.

Image
Tender loving care from nurturing foster parents is the only hope for motherless newborns and others with a fragile hold on life.  We feel blessed to have so many volunteers and staff willing to care for these babies, even waking up in the middle of the night to ensure they are fed every three hours.  More people are needed to help as motherless newborns continue to be rescued throughout the spring and summer, so please visit Nevada SPCA and ask for Lonnie if you would like to learn more about becoming a foster parent. Hercules , pictured here, is 3 weeks of age, being bottle-fed by Joellyn. More about fostering. Wish List supplies for newborns and others.

I like to know that everyone around me is happy with me.

Jack is a little, golden miracle and he triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He was found by kind Fire Department personnel after he had been hit by a car and they rushed him to us for emergency care.  Veterinarians were able to save Jack's life, but not his right front leg.  Jack has adjusted well to life on three legs.  The hospital staff adore him and say he is remarkably well-behaved and intelligent.  Based on his behaviors during recovery, we know he is good with dogs and most likely both housetrained and crate-trained.  Jack is 2 years young, a small and cute Terrier mix, and now neutered.  Please share his picture and help him find a wonderful, loving forever home where he will never be in danger again.

Lionel

Image
Lionel is a young boy with captivating eyes and a dazzling smile and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He was at another shelter that asked for our help because of his timidity.  But right at this moment he is being comforted by a very gentle volunteer and awakening to the realization that he is now safe.  Lionel has the body type of a Rottweiler and he is blended with other breeds.  He is 2 years young, neutered, and reportedly fine with some dogs.  Lionel can reportedly scale fences, so a very secure home and yard is essential for his safety.

I love human kindness, but fear human anger.

Image
We love Julian and want him to know the peace he so desperately longs for.  He was found on the Vegas streets with no sign of responsible ownership.  The woman who caught him had Julian at her home a short time before surrendering him.  She said he cries if he thinks anyone around him is angry about anything.  Based on this other and multiple other indications, we believe he witnessed domestic violence in his previous home.  Julian is a very endearing Terrier & Toy mix, 5 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is good with dogs and reportedly housetrained and crate-trained.  Julian is reportedly afraid of children and men, so a very gentle home is strongly preferred for him.

Will you be my hero?

Image
Marion is a calm-natured, gorgeous girl who is 16 years of age.  But start playing with the laser pointer and she becomes a kitten again!  Marion is a Siamese, spayed, fine with other cats, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She needed us when her previous owner suddenly became incapacitated.  Please help us find a hero for Marion .

Can we count on you for our entire lives?

Athens, baby boy Roma, baby girl Athens and Roma , brother and sister, are incredibly adorable babies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are reportedly Border Collie mixes, expected to grow to medium or large size, approximately 3 months of age and now spayed/neutered and micro-chipped.  Both are playful and affectionate.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship. Their previous owner cited "small apartment" as the reason for surrendering them and apparently was keeping them on a porch or balcony during the day.  Please help find them wonderful, lifelong homes where they will get plenty of love, as well as physical and mental exercise daily.

I am beginning to realize that my future will be bright.

With your help, Petunia will soon finally know what a loving home feels like.    She is a bashful, pretty Miniature Pinscher, 5 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    Petunia will likely do best in a home with another dog to help give her guidance.    We rescued her from another shelter which reported that her previous owners admitted to a loveless home without indoor access or socialization or training.    The extensive damage to the edges of Petunia's ears is apparently from insect bites and the sun.    We are eager to find her an amazing home where she will be showered with love and kindness.

Unconditional love amidst an unjust world where cruelty flourishes.

We have intense feelings about the cruelty of Nikki being surrendered at 14 years of age.  Nikki knew what was happening and she screamed for her mom to come back, which had volunteers and staff gushing tears.  But that cannot be undone, so we wa nt to channel the passion into something positive and beautiful for Nikki -- finding her a home deserving of her unconditional love.  Nikki is a thoughtful, tender-hearted Lhasa Apso, well-behaved (housetrained, crate-trained, good with cats & dogs & kids) and happy to accept comfort and kindness. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  There are many heroes in this community and we are eager to find one for Nikki . Please share her picture to help her get adopted.

Help us find our place in this chaotic world.

Hawkeye Trapper John Hawkeye and Trapper John are angelic baby boys debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are Retriever & Shepherd mixes, expected to grow to large size, 3 months of age and neutered. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety. At the time of rescue the boys had been abandoned in a cardboard box on a woman's porch with three siblings. The three remaining siblings need more time in foster care and we expect them to be ready for adoption too later this month.

Your kindness has changed my view of the world.

Volunteers with passion for animal rescue & rehabilitation work every day to comfort confused animals and give them faith in humans.  Sometimes their magic works immediately.  Just days ago Craig arrived from another shelter that asked for our help because he was very timid.  Craig is a cream Chihuahua, 1 year of age, a neutered boy, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Craig's is shining and his spirits are soaring thanks to the volunteers who have proven to him that humans can be quite kind.

Arwen

Image
Arwen's story is especially heartbreaking, but she survived, and she's now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is a tender-hearted, petite Chihuahua, 7 years of age, and well-behaved (housetrained, crate-trained, compatible with cats & dogs & kids).  At the time of rescue Arwen was dying -- her previous owners let her get pregnant, then failed to take her to a veterinarian when she was in labor for several days, unable to give birth.  When they realized she was going to perish, they released her to us.  Please help Arwen find a responsible, loving forever home where she will be dearly cherished.

Together, we can weather all of the storms.

Guy & Dude are brothers with a magical bond and they needed us when their previous owner went into a nursing home.  When Dude went to an advanced clinic for his permanent head tilt (caused by an old ear infection), Guy began screaming and ended up having to accompany his brother for the journey.  The boys simply want to be at each other's side at all times.  They are handsome, well-behaved Beagles, about 7 years of age, neutered boys, housetrained, and compatible with cats & dogs & kids.  Guy & Dude debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please share their picture and help them find a loving, forever home.

I need an angel.

Akira is blind in her right eye. Akira's hind left leg was amputated all the way up to her hip.  Her tail is hanging down below her hip in this picture. Will you please help find a hero for Akira ?  She is a Standard Poodle, 10-12 years of age, who bonds quickly with gentle people.  Akira is blind in her right eye and she has three legs.  Last year her hind left leg was broken so badly that it had to be amputated.  (The cause of her broken leg was not confirmed, but there reportedly was domestic violence in the home.)  Akira is housetrained.  She likes kind adults, but reportedly does not like young kids.  Akira needs a peaceful, stable home for her twilight years.

Before & After -- Zeke

Image
Zeke, rescued from another shelter. Zeke, on the morning of his adoption debut. Zeke is a young sweetheart we rescued from another shelter.  Obviously from a loveless home, he is surprised that people actually care for him and want to pamper him.  Zeke is a cute blend of many small breeds, 2 years of age, a neutered boy, good with dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Special thanks to Kim, a dedicated volunteer, who arranged for his professional grooming yesterday.  Please help Zeke find a responsible, forever home where he will awaken to the joys of being treasured as a family member.

Before & After -- Tina Marie

Image
Tina Marie, rescued from another shelter. Tina Marie, debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Tina Marie is a precious, tiny lady whose eyes and spirit were hidden under long, scraggly hair.  We rescued her from another shelter.  Tina Marie is a Shih-Tzu, about 4 years of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She needs more socialization, due to what appears to be years of neglect, so an experienced and gentle home is needed.  Special thanks to Kim, a dedicated volunteer, who arranged for Tina Marie 's professional grooming yesterday.
