The rescues of an unprecedented number of special needs dogs, like Scottie , is made possible because of your sharing animals' posts, your donations and other support.  August was another record month at Nevada SPCA -- led by dog adoptions jumping an enormous 35%! -- and we are so grateful for all you are doing to support animal rescue, rehab & adoption! Scottie is a tiny Rat Terrier recovering from abuse and neglect.  He is nippy, especially around food, terrified of experiencing starvation again.  He is 10 years of age, a neutered boy, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Scottie was at another shelter that asked for our help.  Volunteers and staff are working with him and he is making slow, steady improvement.  He is desperate for kindness and wants to lower his guard.  Scottie's progress can continue in an experienced, stable, adult-only home.

Parsley Rosemary Sage Thyme Rosemary and her three baby brothers -- Parsley , Sage , and Thyme -- are sweetheart kittens debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They have been lovingly raised and socialized in a foster home since their rescue. Parsley is a Siamese mix and the other three are cute orange tabbies.  They are now 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and ready for stable, indoor-only, forever homes. Please kitten-proof your home for their safety. Their foster mom says that Rosemary and Sage are the most rambunctious, while Parsley may be the most affectionate, and Thyme is mellow and content to observe his siblings getting into trouble. Please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship.

Marcie, Woodstock, Charlie Brown, and Peppermint Patty -- angelic puppies debuting for adoption today!

Image
Marcie Woodstock These angels, sister and brother, named Marcie and Woodstock , were born on May 30 in a loving foster home.  Just two days earlier, their mom, named Peanut (pictured below), a sweet Chihuahua mix, was surrendered to us, unwanted by her previous owners at full term pregnancy. [ Peanut had a second son.  His name is Snoopy and he will be ready for adoption in a few weeks.] Peanut has since been spayed and adopted. Marcie and Woodstock are now spayed/neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are 3 months of age and their foster mom describes as very playful and adventurous.  They are used to being around cats, dogs, and rabbits, and other species. Marcie and Woodstock are expected to remain small.  They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship. Peanut, mother to Charlie Brown, Marcie, Peppermint Patty, Snoopy, and Woodstock Note: Peanut also mothered and raised two

I waited and waited, never imagining they would refuse to reclaim me.

Sara is a benevolent girl who deserves dignity and kindness for her final years.  We discovered that she was at another shelter and her previous owners were notified that she was there and waiting for them to save her.  But they reportedly told that shelter they were refusing to reclaim her.  Sara is now safe with us and we are determined to find her the stable and loving home she deserves.  She is a German Shepherd, almost 9 years of age, spayed, very gentle and humble, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Sara needs eye drops twice daily for dry eyes.  Please help us find her a hero so she is never failed again.

Our foster mom is our hero.

Jackpot Justin Mickey Minnie Minnie and her three brothers -- Jackpot , Justin , and Mickey -- have been lovingly raised and socialized in a foster home since their rescue.  (They were reportedly born to stray momma cat running loose at an apartment complex.) Their foster mom has given them wonderful care and all are well-adjusted, even Jackpot , who is very shy still. The kittens are now 6 months of age, spayed/neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety.  Also, please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship, though they can be adopted individually. According to their foster mom: Jackpot needs to continue building confidence, Justin is very cuddly, Mickey is exceptionally athletic and adventurous, and Minnie is a perfect lady, prim and proper.

I'm a housecat named Bobcat and I feel like a tiger.

Image
Bobcat would love to be your special little tiger, your devoted boy for life.  He is a very handsome spotted tabby with white socks and no tail, missing his right eye from an old injury, but just 1 year of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Bobcat adores people, but reportedly may not like dogs.  He is a playful youngster and finds amusement with most toys and cat furniture.  Please ask for Bobcat by name when you visit.

No one will be happier to see you each day than me.

Elegance is a graceful, joyful young girl debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is a petite Bully mix with gorgeous sable coloring, about 3 years of age and now spayed.  Elegance was found wandering the streets of Las Vegas.  It was clear she had given birth in the past few weeks, but there were no sign of her babies, nor any sign of responsible ownership (no ID tag, no microchip ID, etc.).  Elegance loves meeting people and she believes in humans with her whole heart.  Please help us find someone caring and stable who she can trust and bless with her unconditional devotion.

I will never take kindness, love, or a nourishing meal for granted.

Pompadour is a baby boy on the rebound, a sweetheart puppy who is beginning to understand that better days are ahead. He was found on the streets of Las Vegas in poor condition with no sign of responsible ownership. But Pompadour is now neutered, up-to-date on shots, microchipped, and eating premium probiotic food. He is a Cairn Terrier & Miniature Schnauzer mix puppy with a cute blue sunburst in his right eye, about 6 months of age, good with other dogs, and ready for for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety and plan on regular professional grooming.

Please do me the honor of coming to meet me.

Dakota is a jolly boy who truly brightens every room he enters with his sunny nature.  He is a medium-size Siberian Husky & Shepherd mix, about 8 years of age, neutered, and available for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Dakota is great with other dogs and reportedly housetrained and compatible with children and cats too.  He is blind in his right eye (old injury).  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this handsome portrait to help him find a loving, forever home.

Do they ever wonder what happened to me?

Image
Nitro is a pensive, intelligent youngster seeking insight and understanding about human nature.  Tied to a pole and abandoned, Nitro cannot comprehend how someone he loved could have disposed of him so ruthlessly and recklessly.  Nitro is an especially attractive Bully mix, 2 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  This devoted boy has enormous potential and we ask for your help in finding him a hero who will never fail him.

It's never too late for a new beginning.

Piccadilly is a tiny gentleman (4.6 pounds) who needs a loving, stable home. He is a Maltese, about 10 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Piccadilly loves gentle people and friendly dogs.  Please plan and budget for regular professional grooming. He was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his severe neglect and dental needs. Piccadilly's matted coat has been shaved away and a dozen of his teeth were extracted.  He is now ready for a fresh start!

Age has given me wisdom and my unconditional love is undiminished.

Cheyanne is a wonderful treasure, an 11-year old girl who loves people and dogs.  All she asks for is dignity and compassion for her twilight years.  When you talk sweetly to Cheyanne she flashes her bright smile and her tail wags rapidly.  She is a lovely Bully mix we rescued earlier this summer from another shelter.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this beautiful portrait to help her get new attention and consideration.  Please ask for Cheyanne by name when you visit Nevada SPCA.

Mr. French, a rescued Basset Hound: "I am afraid of being hated again."

Image
Mr. French was wandering the streets of Las Vegas with no sign of responsible ownership (no ID tag, no microchip ID, not neutered).  Worse, he had been beaten, and he was terrified every new person he encountered might hurt him too.  Mr. French is a handsome young Basset Hound, 2 years of age, now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is very slow to trust and his emotional recovery will take time and patience in an experienced, adult-only home with a stable lifestyle routine.  Please help Mr. French find a hero to ensure that he continues seeing only the best of human nature from now on.

I am waiting for you with all of my love and devotion.

Miley is a petite lady with the most gentle spirit and elegant manners. She is quiet-natured and unassuming, and full of devotion.  A gentle lifestyle is ideal for her. Miley is a blue-grey & white shorthair with velvet-soft fur, about 5 years of age, spayed, and available for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Miley likes other cats, but if they are not friendly she will fear them and run and hide. Special thanks to Pet'ographique for showing Miley so beautifully in these portraits to help her find a loving, forever home.

Sweetheart puppies rescued from the desert.

Image
Chapman, photographed on October 16. Chapman is a bashful baby boy with a very gentle soul and he needs continuing socialization.  He is 1 of 16 puppies we rescued from the desert, born to two feral (undomesticated) moms -- Australian Cattle Dog mixes, believed to be sisters.  (Efforts continue to capture the mothers, who somehow continue to elude both humans and coyotes.) Thirteen of his siblings have been adopted.  The remaining two will debut for adoption in the days to come as they are spayed/neutered and prepared for adoption. These babies have only had human contact for a few weeks, so they are exceptionally shy and uneasy around people.  But thanks to volunteers and staff socializing them more each day, they are making slow and steady progress -- progress that needs to now continue in their forever homes. We believe the puppies will grow to medium size.  (Their father is unknown.) Chapman is about 5 months of age and neutered.  Please puppy-p

Charlie, a rescued Poodle: "I'm worried my heart will just get broken again."

Image
Charlie is an earnest boy who must wonder if he dares to let himself become hopeful again.  He was so matted, and likely unloved, at the time of rescue that we had to have his coat completely shaved off to give him a fresh start.  Charlie is a Miniature Poodle (21 pounds, larger than a Toy Poodle), about 7 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Charlie loves other dogs and he is beginning to believe in people.  An experienced home is needed for his continuing progress.  Please help Charlie find a hero to help him reach his full loving potential.

Jack and Janet, adorable Boxer mix puppies debuting for adoption today!

Image
Jack Janet Jack and Janet, brother and sister, are loving and entertaining puppies now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  They are Boxer mixes with stunning brindle/tiger coloring, about 6 months of age and spayed/neutered. These two, and their sister Chrissy , were very sick with parvo at the time of rescue.  We rushed them into emergency medical care.  After extensive veterinary treatment, all three survived and made full recoveries!  ( Chrissy will be ready for adoption too in the days to come.) Please puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety.  Jack and Janet can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong companionship. Special thanks to those of you who donate to Nevada SPCA's advanced medical care fund.  Your generosity and compassion enabled us to save the lives of these babies, and so many others.

Our foster mom call us "Little Miracles".

Image
Calista Felicity At the time of rescue earlier this summer these two baby girls were dumped in our lobby in a large box with tiny air holes cut out.  We opened the box and found 14 very young kittens inside, panting in severe heat distress. Staff and volunteers literally ran with them into a care room to cool them down and save their lives.  We were terrified some had gotten too overheated and might die.  Fortunately, all 14 survived without brain damage.  Many foster parents stepped forward to help these babies.  Calista and Felicity are adorable sisters and they are the first two who are now spayed, 3 months of age, and ready for adoption.  Their foster mom did a wonderful job socializing them. Calista purrs the moment you enter the room and she loves catnapping in your lap. Felicity can spend hours chasing her favorite toy -- a small ball of foil -- and then come to you for cuddling. The girls can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together

Peanut, a petite gentleman: "If the tie fits, wear it."

Image
Peanut hopes this terrific new portrait, courtesy of Pet'ographique , will help win him new attention and consideration.  He is a petite gentleman with mousy good looks and he has been making exceptional progress with trust thanks to dedicated volunteers and staff.  Peanut is a tri-color Chihuahua, about 8 years of age, neutered, and available for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Peanut loves other dogs. He reportedly lost his previous home because he doesn't like being around children.  A calm, gentle, stable home environment is perfect for him.

Please keep me safe and never give me away.

Image
Babette is a petite and very sweet bunny, just 8 months of age, and she is ready to share a lifetime of love with you in exchange for a stable, indoor-only, forever home.  She is a beautiful blend of many domesticated rabbit breeds, now spayed and available for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing her spirit and grace in this portrait.  Please ask for Babette by name in our Lovebugs Room.

Skyler: "I just needed someone to believe in me."

Image
Skyler was terrified and exceptionally reserved at the time of rescue.  But thanks to patience and kindness from volunteers and staff during the past several weeks, he is gaining self-esteem and blooming.  Skyler is a delightful young Toy & Chihuahua mix, 1 year of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is great with other dogs and sports the cutest smiles.  A gentle, stable home will help Skyler continue making progress toward reaching his full loving potential.

Gabriel: "I'm a baby, named for an angel, ready to share unconditional love."

Image
We named Gabriel after an angel.  We see perfect innocence and kindness in his spirit. He is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix baby boy, 3 months of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org). At the time of rescue Gabriel was at another shelter.  Both ears were enlarged, swollen from severe head-shaking (hematoma/othematoma), likely due to ear infections or insects in his ear.  Gabriel's ear canals are now clean and veterinarians operated on his ears to fix the swelling.  The scarring is permanent, but will diminish somewhat in time and as his hair on his ears grows back. Gabriel adores people and dogs.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

A young English Bulldog recovering from severe skin issues due to allergies.

Image
Meatball is a young English Bulldog who loves slobbering your chin and cheek with his doggie kisses.  He is incredibly grateful for kindness and care, and eager to express this. Meatball was at another shelter that asked for our help because of his severe skin problems.  He is now on medication for allergies and the veterinarian treating him said we are likely to see dramatic improvement in Meatball's skin within just a matter of days. Meatball is 3 years of age, a neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Bulldog knowledge is preferred for his adoption. We are excited that this exceptionally sweet boy is on the road to recovery!

Robin, a rescued puppy: "I ask for your kindness, but I fear your anger."

Image
Robin is a puppy who is wary of people, terrified of being hit or kicked, or yelled at, so he hunkers down until he feels he has assessed your intentions.  The spark is coming back to his eyes though as he recovers from abuse and he is now letting more of us hold and comfort him.  Robin has enormous loving potential and we ask for your help in finding him a hero who will provide a stable, forever home where his progress can continue.  Robin is a Dachshund & Terrier mix baby boy, 7 months of age, neutered, great dogs and cats, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

Abraham: "Feeling abandoned hurt even worse than the starvation."

Image
Abraham is elated with all of the attention and care he is receiving, as well as the steady meals and delicious treats.  Looking at his big smile now it's hard to believe this is the same dog who was rescued earlier this month from an alleyway, desperately searching for morsels of food in the trash behind a strip mall.  Abraham is 2 years young, a blue-grey & white Bully mix, now neutered, and triumphantly debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please help us find a hero for Abraham so his blooming and progress can continue, helping him reach his full loving potential.

Nani, a young rescued dog, and pregnant, who needs a foster hero.

Image
Nani is a pregnant young girl ready to give birth at any moment and we urgently need a loving foster home for her.  Please visit Nevada SPCA before 4pm if you can help. Nani was rescued near a small Las Vegas casino with no sign of responsible ownership.  She is very friendly and gentle, she loves being around people, and her tail wags & wiggles when you talk to her sweetly.  She is a butterscotch & white Bully mix, about 2 years of age.  The foster commitment needs to be for approximately 3 months so that she can birth and raise her babies in a comfortable home environment.  Please help us find Nani a foster hero.

Zsa Zsa, a 4-pound angel for adoption, looks like a tiny deer.

Image
Zsa Zsa is a 4-pound angel, a youngster with the innocence and beauty of a tiny deer.  What was this gentle girl doing lost on the streets of Las Vegas with no sign of responsible ownership (no ID tag, no microchip ID, not spayed)?  Zsa Zsa is a Chihuahua, 1 year of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She likes being held and reassured and gets along well with other sweet dogs.  Due to Zsa Zsa's tiny size, please take extra precautions for safety in your home and backyard.

Dear Abby, a rescued pregnant Terrier & Toy mix who needs a foster hero.

Image
Dear Abby needs a foster home please.  She is pregnant, estimated to give birth in about two weeks, and needs a comfortable environment where she can raise her babies.  A 3-month foster commitment is needed.  If you can help please visit Nevada SPCA before 4pm and ask for DJ. Dear Abby has apparently been on the streets awhile, according to witnesses, scavenging for survival.  She is a small, lovely Terrier & Toy mix, 2 years young.  Dear Abby's name is based on her very proper behaviors, such as folding and unfolding her bedding and her attention to little details.  We believe she will be a very engaged and attentive mother.

The Firefighter Kittens are now ready for adoption!

Image
Norman Normita Selina Shelly Tamara Norman and his four sisters -- Normita , Selina , Shelly , and Tamara -- were found in a box that was dumped at a southern Nevada fire station.  We nicknamed them " The Firefighter Kittens " in honor of the heroes who found them and took steps to provide nurturing care and bring them to us for rescue. We placed the babies in a loving foster home and all thrived beautifully with TLC. The Firefighter Kittens are now 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and ready for stable, indoor-only, forever homes.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety. The babies can be adopted separately, but please consider a pair for lifelong companionship.

Blue & Tupi are brother and sister Pomeranians debuting for adoption.

Image
Blue & Tupi are brother and sister Pomeranians debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are super sweet, housetrained, crate-trained, compatible with dogs and older kids, spayed/neutered, and about 4 years of age.  Blue is a boy and has a blue sunburst in his left eye.  Tupi is a girl and she is more pensive in contrast to Blue's outgoing personality.  They are very strongly bonded siblings who want and need to remain together for life.  Blue & Tupi needed us because they were reportedly left by their original owner with a friend last year, but then never returned for them and broke off contact.  Please help us find these sweethearts a terrific, stable new home.

Can you spare any love and kindness for me?

Image
At the time of rescue Katrina's spirit was dulled from despair.  She was in neglected condition and had apparently been discarded by being recklessly thrown over a fence into someone's backyard.  Fortunately for Katrina , the yard belonged to Nevada SPCA volunteers and the couple's dogs were gentle and sweet to her.  Katrina is now brightening with renewed vitality.  She is a Malti-Poo (Maltese & Poodle mix), spayed girl, 2 years young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Katrina craves kindness and reassurance.  Please help us find her someone who will shower her with love and remain committed to her for life.

The Tolkien Kittens are now almost 5 months of age, neutered, and ready for loving, indoor-only, forever homes.  Please kitten-proof your home for their safety. The boys can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair, or the trio, for lifelong companionship. At the time of rescue these boys were found on the streets.  An experienced home is strongly preferred to continue their socialization.
