Iggy beams when he feels safe.    Sit on the floor and he'll crawl into your lap and rest his head in the palm of your hand. But fingers scare Iggy . He flinches from fast movements and fears that leashes are a form of punishment. We do not know what cruelties he endured in his previous home. Iggy is a young Chihuahua & Toy mix with tremendous loving potential. Cindy , so desperate for kindness and peace-of-mind, is ready to bloom. Burdened with despair and confusion, she walks slowly and hangs her head to the ground. But sit close to her and talk sweet, and soon she will lift her chin and accept your touch. Cindy is a Labrador Retriever with tremendous loving potential. She is 6 years of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .    Cindy is 1 of 18 animals we have rescued so far from a defunct animal organization and her background is otherwise unknown. Da Vinci , brilliant and quirky, hopes someone wonderful can see his tremendous potential. He is a Toy & Chihuahua with a curly-Q tail, 2 years young, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . Da Vinci was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his violent past.  He is no-nonsense with strangers, assessing their intentions, but joyful with dogs and people he knows and trusts. Da Vinci is improving. His progress needs to continue with a hero who will provide a calm, stable, steady routine which he can flourish in.

Bravado , a rescued junior puppy with tremendous loving potential, looks at new people carefully and tries to asses whether they like him. If he senses approval, he becomes light-hearted and joyful. Bravado is a cute Chihuahua, 11 months of age, neutered boy, good with other dogs, now debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.    He was at another shelter that asked for our help because of his fear and trembling.    We matched Bravado up with a confident dog to be his friend and he stopped shaking.    Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

Starlet is beginning to understand she is worthy of love.    She is a young Cocker Spaniel with tremendous loving potential, 1 year of age, good with other dogs, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. We suspect Starlet was never once brushed or groomed prior to her rescue. Her coat was so matted we had to have it entirely shaved away to give her a fresh start.    Starlet is surprised when the staff and volunteers pay attention to her. She tries to hide her face and hope no one notices her. Please be extraordinarily patient as she adjusts to you, your home, and your lifestyle.

Steven pleads for kindness and peace-of-mind.  He is a young, good-looking Labrador Retriever recovering from cruelty. Steven is very worried about strangers, especially men. Felicity does not yet realize that she is a precious jewel. With love, time, and patience, she will awaken to her full potential. Felicity is a medium-size (only 26 pounds) Heinz 57, a beautiful blend of many breeds, 1 year young, a spayed girl, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    She was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her timidity. Felicity apparently had been in a dreadful home.    We want to find her a peaceful and stable home where she will never hear screaming again.

Abby would love to be a little sister to a friendly dog who can help guide her toward more confidence and self-esteem.  She is a luminous young girl with tremendous loving potential. Abby is a medium-size Heinz 57 (blend of many breeds), 1 year of age, spayed, housetrained & crate-trained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Abby needed us when her previous owners moved away without her.

Desiree is a radiant young girl with tremendous loving potential. She is a Labrador Retriever & Sighthound mix, 1 year of age, spayed, housetrained & crate-trained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Desiree was reportedly being hurt and teased in her previous home by a child with special needs. She is head-shy, afraid of quick movements near her neck, and worried that people are going to steal the food away that they give her.    A very stable lifestyle routine in an experienced home will help her adjust and continue to improve.

Scooby is a bright-eyed youngster with tremendous potential.    He is an exceptionally attractive Catahoula Leopard Dog with chocolate merle coloration and blue sunbursts in his left eye, 2 years of age, neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Scooby is protective of women and worries about men he doesn't know getting close to the women he is bonding with. We don't know what he endured or witnessed.    What we did learn was that he had been living in a garage, day and night, for 3 months when his previous owner abandoned him with a friend and then never reclaimed him. Scooby needs an experienced home where he can learn that men can be kind and nurturing too. He will learn that his role is to love, not to protect.

Melanie craves reassurance. She is very confused about being homeless and worries. But when you gently comfort her, she begins to relax and shine. Melanie is a Heinz 57 with Retriever & Ridgeback (75 pounds), beautiful girl, spayed, 5 years of age, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    We rescued her from another shelter that asked for our help with her timidity.

The calming power of a whisper led to this big, relaxed smile on Madison this morning. Scarred by severe cruelty, Madison fears people want to hurt her. She freezes in place and hopes nobody notices her. But she lets us touch her and sit beside her. When we whispered reassurances that she's safe and never to be hurt again, Madison dropped her guard and her eyes sparkled. Madison is 1 year young and full of tremendous loving potential. She is a beautiful blend of breeds, including Retriever, and now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    Please help find her a wonderful, peaceful forever home where she can continue blooming.

Carolyn Jo Ann Carolyn and Jo Ann , sister junior puppies, are both blooming, though at different speeds, and they are building toward reaching their full loving potential.    They are medium in size, substantially smaller than most Retrievers, 7 months of age, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Prior to their rescue, the girls were reportedly confined in a tiny area and were not getting attention and socialization. Carolyn has improved the most. She is quick to offer her smile and hug the legs of the people she wants to be around. Her spirit is soaring with hope and enthusiasm. Jo Ann is still too shy to walk on a leash. If you call her to you, she will slink low to the ground and scramble into your lap for cuddling. She is not yet confident enough to stand up around people and instead flattens to the ground in submission. Please help find responsible, stable homes where theses girls can continue improving...

Tillie wants to believe in people. She is a tender-hearted young Dachshund mix with tremendous loving potential.  Tillie is 2 years of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is very wary of strangers and fears they want to hurt her again. But when she realizes you are kind, she warms and offers her devotion.  Tillie was at another shelter and needed us due to past abuse.

Valentino is a tender-hearted young boy with tremendous loving potential and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. One of his neighbors noticed he was always kept outdoors and never received affection or attention. When his owner moved out of the country, Valentino was left behind and abandoned, then brought to us for safety. Valentino is surprised to receive attention. So he's sometimes more comfortable having you just sit peacefully beside him, talking softly, avoiding direct eye contact. We believe he will thrive best with a big sister or brother dog for guidance. Valentino is 1 year of age, a Terrier & Toy mix (with black skin under one eye and pink skin under his other eye), and now neutered.    Please help find a hero for Valentino .

Though big and handsome, Damien doesn't feel majestic. He doesn't yet realize his self-worth and needs to continue building confidence.    We look forward to the day when he stands proudly upright without fear. Damien is a Rottweiler, almost 3 years of age, a neutered boy, good with large dogs and older kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Rottweiler knowledge is required for his adoption.    Please help find a hero who will help him always feel safe and secure and appreciated.

Gustav is awakening to the realization that some people can be kind. For a severe abuse survivor, this is a big step, a starting point for reaching his full loving potential as he continues to recover emotionally. Gustav is a small, red-gold Heinz 57 with Beagle, 3 years young and neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    We rescued Gustav from another shelter. Around strangers he was flattening himself to the ground, hoping no one would see him.    He's now beginning to lift his head and stand up, though he watches people carefully to avoid any quick movements.   Gustav needs a hero and he may adjust best in a home with a big sister or brother dog.

Derek , a young and earnest boy, debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Labrador Retriever mix, weighing almost 100 pounds, 1 year of age and neutered, and housetrained.  Derek needed us because his previous owners said he is 'too big' and destroyed a remote control.  Please visit and ask for Derek by name.

Abigail is ready to bloom and shine in a peaceful, stable home where she realizes she will have nothing to fear.   She is a pretty Yellow Labrador Retriever mix, 3 years young and spayed, housetrained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued Abigail from another shelter and what she endured in a previous home is unknown. But she is terrified of strangers and won't tolerate them lunging at her.  Our experience is that Abigail quickly accepts kind people and does very well as long as she is not forced to move against her own will.  Please help find a hero for Abigail (in a very experienced, adult-only home where she can reach her full potential).

Damon asks for a peaceful and very stable home, free of violence or screaming.
