Hope

Image
Hope beams with anticipation for a bright future! At the time of rescue this young girl was starving and had been struck by a car. She was rushed to an animal hospital. Hope needed five weeks of healing and, very fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening. She is slowly but steadily gaining weight and energy too. Hope adores people. She is a Belgian Shepherd mix, 2 years of age, spayed, and debuting triumphantly for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . It appears she requires a one-dog household.

Asher

Image
Asher is a kind young boy and he is very grateful for every meal, gentle touch, and word of praise. He was found in emaciated, severely neglected condition with no sign of responsible ownership. Since then he has been on a premium meal plan with us and gaining weight, strength, body mass, and energy. This progress needs to continue in his forever home. Asher is a Yellow Labrador Retriever, 1 year of age, neutered boy, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Kodiak

Image
Kodiak , 9, recovering from starvation, builds a bit more hope, energy, and muscle mass each day.    Please keep him on premium, nutritious meals and treats to continue his progress (as he has much more body tissue to add in the weeks and months to come). Kodiak is a regal Alaskan Malamute and he is housetrained, neutered, good with other dogs (of all sizes, reportedly) and cats (unconfirmed), fine with older kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    We rescued him from another shelter.

Elsie needs a foster hero please.

Image
Elsie's remarkable survival and ongoing recovery. Post 1 of 2 this morning of dogs surviving perilous starvation and ready for nurturing foster homes to continue their recoveries. Elsie can now lift her head and even stand up for short periods of time without assistance. She is exceptionally docile and grateful for every single bit of kindness and reassurance. At the time of rescue Elsie was found so emaciated she could not even sit up. We rushed her to an animal hospital and she received intravenous fluids for several days while curled up in a soft dog bed. Elsie is now eating wet food and drinking water on her own. She cannot yet walk.     Elsie's recovery will take many weeks and we believe she will recover best in a peaceful, comfortable home environment. If you can foster Elsie , please visit Nevada SPCA in person and ask for DJ. Or please share this to post to help find her a foster hero. Thank you. Elsie , 10...

Renoir

Image
Renoir , recovering from extreme emaciation and starvation, is building energy, now holding his head up, and slowly recovering body mass.    He still has a long way to go, but he has progressed enough that he can be adopted to a hero and continue his improvement in a loving home. He is happiest and most at peace sitting calmly in laps.    Renoir is 11 years of age, a petite Chihuahua, neutered, housetrained & crate-trained, good with other dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.    He was surrendered by his previous owners due to financial hardship.

Atlas

Image
Atlas is all smiles since his arrival and he loves to prance at our sides during brisk walks. He is remarkably gentle and adores other dogs. Atlas is 10 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is very tall, but slender in build (with a Sighthound-type body structure), and we are perplexed by his unique breed make-up. Atlas was at another shelter and needed help. He is far too thin and needs to continue on a robust food plan to continue gaining weight and energy. (His background is unknown except that a police officer had to confiscate him from his previous home.)

Bentley

Image
Bentley , a very gentle soul, is steadily recovering from starvation. He was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his emaciated condition.    Bentley has been eating premium, nutritious food with us for several weeks now, gaining some weight and energy, and his progress needs to continue for many weeks more.    He has improved enough now though that he can debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Bentley is a Rottweiler, 5 years of age and neutered, and good with other large and friendly dogs. Rottweiler knowledge is needed for his adoption please.

Tilda

Image
Tilda , now serene and content, has made a wonderful recovery from starvation.  At the time of rescue she was severely emaciated on the streets.  Tilda is drawn to nurturing people and calm cats.  She is a lovely medium-hair tabby, 3 years young, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.   Please help find her a stable, loving home where she will never know desperate hunger or fear of survival again.

Gracie -- Before & After

Image
Gracie posing for her web site portrait, December 16. Enjoying her foster dad's wading pool. Gracie, June 12, the day of her rescue.  Gracie , who nearly perished from starvation, has bloomed into a volunteer favorite (they call her "baby hippo") who delights in playing with kids, splashing in wading pools, and leaning onto the people who cuddle her.    Today, Gracie triumphantly debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Gracie is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 5 years of age, spayed, and housetrained.    She was captured at a construction site months ago in such emaciated and dehydrated condition that we rushed her to a veterinary hospital for IV fluids for two days. Her veterinarian said she would not have survived another day on her own. Gracie's physical and emotional recovery was helped by time spent in a loving foster home. Her foster dad says she adores people of all ages and can get along with some large dogs (if fed separa...

Christian

Image
Christian , 10, revels in praise and loves hearing us tell him that years of love are ahead. All indications suggest he endured many years, if not a lifetime so far, in a loveless backyard with little interaction.  At the time of rescue he was at another shelter in emaciated condition with hair loss from malnutrition and an open neck wound (likely from a too-tight collar slicing into his neck).  Christian is rebounding physically and emotionally.  His veterinary care included dental care and he is on a premium probiotic weight gain plan, with his skin and hair gradually improving.  Christian wants to be with dogs and people so he's never lonely again.  He is a chocolate Miniature Pinscher, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Chancely -- Before & After

Image
Chancely, April 10 Chancely, shortly after his rescue Chancely, shortly after his rescue Now 17 pounds heavier and healthier, making a triumphant recovery from starvation, Chancely is now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is a small Boxer mix with tiger/golden brindle coloring, 6 years of age and neutered.  Chancely is very grateful for kindness and he seems to be compatible with other friendly dogs too.  (At the time of rescue he was at another shelter and weighed 32 pounds.  This morning Chancely weighed 49 pounds.)

Let me become your loyal boy for life.

Image
Travis is a remarkably cute boy with magical eyes and he is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He has the body of a Smooth Fox Terrier and the face of a Jack Russell Terrier.  Travis is about 6 years of age and neutered.  He adores people and bounces with high jumps straight up in the air when he's excited.  Travis is recovering from emaciation/starvation and another shelter asked for our help.  Food is of utmost seriousness to him, so he cannot be fed around other dogs.  Travis is gaining energy and weight well, and his zest for life is emerging beautifully.

Before & After pictures of sweet Lacey.

Image
Lacey, March 11 Lacey, May 26 Lacey is an angelic girl who has been recovering from starvation for the past 8 weeks.  Today, she triumphantly debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Lacey is a Shih-Tzu mix, about 6 years of age and spayed, and great with other gentle dogs.  We rescued her from another shelter in March when she was skeletal, severely neglected, and had blood in her urine from a bladder stone.  The first picture (green background) is just days after her rescue once we had her knots and tangles shaved away.  In this morning's picture (the turquoise background), you can see the hope and glow in her eyes.  Lacey has regained weight and energy, her coat is growing out nicely thanks to premium food, and she has recovered well from her bladder stone surgery.  Please help us find a wonderful, stable, loving forever home for Lacey .

I thought the world only offered me cruelty and suffering.

What a beautiful, extraordinary recovery Marlena has made!  She is a Miniature Poodle mix, 2 years young, a spayed girl, triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  In January officers confiscated her from her previous home, where she was on a chain.  She was taken to another shelter that asked for our help because she was emaciated from starvation.  Marlena has gained weight, energy, and self-esteem.  She is good with other dogs too and more trusting of people.  Please help find her a responsible, loving forever home.

I'm healing, body and soul, and I am now ready for a loving, forever home.

Beatrice is a young sweetheart and she is blooming beautifully!  At the time of rescue earlier this autumn she was roaming the Vegas streets in emaciated condition with no sign of responsible ownership.  Physically, Beatrice is steadily gaining weight and energy with premium food.  Emotionally, she is warming up to people she knows and basking in being kindly touched.  Beatrice is a blond Bully mix, about 3 years of age, now spayed and triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Every morsel of food and act of kindness is a blessing.

Recovering from severe neglect, Alvin does not take for granted enjoying regular meals and cozy blankets and kind attention.  He was at another shelter that asked for our help because he was emaciated and had numerous minor injuries on his body.  (The small marks on his ears appear to be from insect bites, but we can only speculate what he actually endured in a loveless home.)  Alvin is friendly and outgoing, so happy to be on the mend!  He is a chocolate & cream & white Chi-Weenie (Chihuahua & Dachshund mix), 2 years young, good with dogs, now neutered and triumphantly debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

Van Gogh, a young Labrador Retriever and triumphant survivor of starvation.

Image
Van Gogh , a beaming and jubilant young boy, triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  At the time of his rescue in June he was emaciated from starvation.  But after a summer of premium, probiotic food and nutritional supplements, he is now the picture of exceptional health and vitality!  Van Gogh is a playful, joyous Labrador Retriever, 1 year young and now neutered.  He enjoys most dogs and he smiles lovingly when he's around people.  Please come meet Van Gogh and spend time with him in our courtyard.

I had lost the will to live.

The liveliness in Casey's eyes is particularly magnificent in light of her near tragedy.  This valiant young girl -- a medium-size Labrador Retriever mix, 2 years of age, and spayed -- debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  At the time of rescue Casey was at another shelter that asked for our help to rehabilitate her from starvation.  Casey was emaciated and her eyes were dead.  With veterinary guidance we fed her frequent, small special meals, which she devoured with abandon.  Volunteers helped keep her spirits up and appetite healthy and her progress continued week-after-week.  Now up 8 pounds and with renewed zest for life, Casey is ready to make her mark on the world and bless a person, couple, or family with her unconditional devotion.
