Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Aztec , tiny at 7 pounds, so desperately wants to bond with people.    If you sit on the floor, he'll slowly crawl into your lap. But, as the victim of severe abuse, he may panic if you try to pet him. Aztec worries that strangers will try to hurt him again. We rescued him from another shelter and his progress has been gradual and slow. We believe he adjusts best when another dog is present, so adopting him to a home with a big sister or brother dog is likely ideal. Aztec is a Longhair Chihuahua, 4 years of age, neutered, and ready for a hero adoption at Nevada SPCA.

Sadie was at another shelter and trembling in fear.  She is letting us hold and reassure her and she is building up confidence well in the presence of other dogs.  Like Holly, who was posted earlier today, Sadie would love to be another dog's devoted little sister.  She will thrive best following another dog's lead and adjusting to a peaceful and stable home.   Sadie is an adorable tri-color Chihuahua mix, 5 years of age and spayed, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Stetson's soul was deeply wounded by cruelty.  We have been working with him for several months, helping him build trust and understand that humans can be kind.  Stetson has progressed enough that he can join a stable home and continue his improvements.  Stetson is a Tibetan Terrier mix, 2 years young, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is housetrained and good with other dogs.  Very experienced, adult-only household needed.  Please help find a hero for Stetson .

The power of a fresh start and knowing that someone believes in you.  When we rescued Baxter from another shelter he was terrified and it was clear he had endured years in a loveless, neglectful, and abusive home.  Baxter is a Shih-Tzu mix, 5 years of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is still fearful of being hurt, but making progress emotionally every day.  Baxter needs a hero who will help him continue to improve and reach his full potential.  Grooming courtesy of the very kind people at Hair of the Dog spa .

Tuscany , a sensitive puppy, is no longer in peril, but he doesn't yet realize that he is safe.  He is still shaking until we hold him and reassure him.  Tuscany was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his abusive past.  He has tremendous loving potential and needs a gentle hero to show him that humans are capable of incredible kindness.  Tuscany is a small, 21-pound, unique blend of many breeds with tiger/brindle coloring and teddy bear-like good looks.  He is 6 months of age, neutered, good with dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Duchess is a young German Shepherd with majestic beauty.  But she has no self-esteem because it is clear she has been abused.  Duchess wants to bond with people, but she's worried she's going to get hit.  Staff and volunteers are very patient with her and she relaxes and her fears subside.  She is 1 year of age and spayed, reportedly housetrained and crate-trained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her timidity.  Please help find Duchess a hero.

Lila is a sensitive young girl yearning to find her place in this chaotic, sometimes cruel world.  She is a beautiful German Shepherd, 3 years of age and spayed, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Lila was at another shelter and needed our help due to timidity.  She has been hit and worries that strangers want to harm her.  We believe Lila is ready to give her heart to someone who will keep her safe and show her a lifetime of kindness.  German Shepherd knowledge and a secure home/yard is needed for her adoption.  Please share Lila's picture to help find her a hero.

Beretta is a panda bear-cute youngster who wants to believe in people.  But he is afraid of being hit and fast hand movements near his head or neck terrify him.  Beretta has enormous loving potential and his progress can continue in a loving, stable, forever home.  He is Heinz 57 (blend of breeds) including Bully & Retriever, about 2 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Beretta was found abandoned on the streets.  The man who captured him said he is housetrained and compatible with other dogs.  Please help find Beretta a hero.

Julian wants to join a stable, quiet home where he will be treasured.  His past was a violent one and he will cry and shake if anyone around him exhibits any anger, fearing that he will be the target of the rage.  But Julian is blooming, relishing the kindness of staff and volunteers, and he is ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is a cute Toy & Terrier mix, 5 years of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and housetrained & crate-trained.  Great thanks to Pet'ographique for these sensational portraits to help Julian find a lifelong hero.

Pluto is a tiny, 7-pound boy with enormous loving potential and he is recovering steadily from a violent, cruel past.  We rescued him in June from another shelter and he had open wounds across his body, most consistent with road rash from being struck by a vehicle.  Physically, he has healed beautifully this summer and he triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Emotionally, Pluto is still a work in progress, but he is learning to trust and realizing that people can be kind.  Pluto is 7 years of age and neutered.  We believe he will adjust best in a home with a big brother or sister dog.  Please help find a hero for Pluto .

A teacher heroically rescued Sylvia from an abusive home after hearing from one of her students that a family member was kicking their pregnant dog.  We placed Sylvia in a nurturing foster home where she gave birth to 3 babies, and all survived.  (Sylvia's puppies will remain in foster care until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered.)  Sylvia is a remarkably sweet Toy Fox Terrier & Chihuahua mix, 2 years of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Sylvia is learning that humans can be kind and she is healing well emotionally.  She must see only the best of human nature from now on.  Please help us find Sylvia a wonderful, stable, forever home.

We are elated to see Callie so happy and beaming!  This is a huge day and achievement for her -- her debut for adoption -- that has been months in the making.  We rescued Callie from another shelter earlier this year.  She had been abused and initially refused to bond with or trust any of us.  But dedicated and patient volunteers and staff have proven to Callie that humans can be kind, thereby awakening in her new hope for her future.  She is still a bit shy, but her progress has been remarkable!  Callie is a medium-size Heinz 57 with Aussie, a unique chocolate & cream & white blend of several breeds, just under 2 years of age and spayed.  Callie is good with other dogs and may do best in a home with a big brother or sister dog.  Please visit and ask for Callie by name at Nevada SPCA.

Texas hopes everyone will take note of the great progress he is making and give him new consideration.  Very caring volunteers have been helping him for months overcome memories of cruelty and encouraging him to believe in people again.  Texas likes to stand on his hind legs and place his paws on your knee to listen to you tell him what a good boy he is.  He gets along very well with other gentle dogs and likes to nap and sleep under blankets.  Texas is a tiny Chihuahua, 6 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please help find a hero who can help Texas continue to improve and reach his full loving potential and Southern charm.

Christina was found abandoned on the streets. It's clear she has seen the worst of human nature.  She looks at strangers carefully to assess whether they intend her further violence.  But Christina has tremendous loving potential and her emotional healing is already under way, thanks to dedicated volunteers.  Christina is good with other dogs and we believe a big brother or sister dog can help her adjust.  She is a beautiful German Shepherd mix (we believe 75% German Shepherd), 2 years young, now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Boomer is a radiant young Foxhound mix debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is about 2 years of age, a neutered boy, reportedly housetrained and fine with other friendly dogs.  We believe Boomer has been the victim of abuse, but he has tremendous loving potential and we're seeking an experienced home for his continuing emotional recovery.  We rescued Boomer from another shelter with literally moments to spare.  He was all frowns initially, but he is now giving us his brilliant smiles and we're so happy to see his new-found vitality!
