Rune is an engaging baby goat, with a magical personality, who enthusiastically likes to follow you around, so social that he is happiest when he is around people and animals. Rune is a super cute LaMancha breed, now 6 months of age, neutered, and ready for adoption to a loving, forever home. Besides humans, he adores other goats and pigs. At the time of rescue he was all alone on a road with his mother nowhere in sight.

I am an aquatic boy and thrilled to be swimming.

Update: Phelps was adopted on May 14th! Upon his rescue from a foreclosed home, we brought this handsome duck in to a protected patio with multiple swimming pools. Raised with chickens and rabbits, he was not at all fearful of the pot belly pigs and other ducks. His focus was just getting in the water. We will never forget his initial burst of euphoric joy -- splashing, dunking, cleaning, wading -- completely overwhelmed with fulfilling his nature and being in the pools. We named this swimming aficionado Phelps , after the swimmer. He is a very handsome and friendly duck. He even lets the staff members who bond with him and feed him to hold him in their arms for brief intervals. Playfully, he sometimes chases them to demand great attention. Phelps needs a very safe home geared to the pleasures of a duck, with plenty of places to swim. He is so socialized with and dependent on people that he cannot be released into a wilderness-type environment. Instead, he needs a home where he w...

I am a people-oriented young boy.

Update: Vitality was adopted on November 11th! Vitality is one of the rare guinea pigs we rescue who prefers the company of humans to his own species. In fact, he needs and wants to be the only guinea pig vying for your attention. We have tried to find him a brother here to bond with, but he was not a bit interested and instead showed aggression to them. But people he adores! You can hear him purr when he is cozy in your hands or under your chin. Vitality is a year-old guinea pig with stunning tortoiseshell coloring. Please ask for Vitality by name at the headquarters if you seek a single pig who cherishes human company.

Our little "popcorning" hops occur when we are especially excited.

Update: Elvis & Moe were adopted on September 22nd! Elvis & Moe are exceptionally handsome Abyssinian guinea pigs with sweet natures. They are strongly bonded brothers and want to remain together forever. The boys are approximately 3 years of age, which is still relatively young for guinea pigs who generally live for 6 or 7 years. Once they get to know you, they will whistle in glee when you come, especially if they think you may have some fresh greens for them. The popcorn-hops are super cute and occur occasionally when they are particular joyful. Elvis & Moe are a bit hand shy at first, probably due to not being handled much in their previous home. But they are warm-hearted once they relax and trust you. We rescued the boys (and their brother Rodney) after their owner threw them away in a small box covered in mites. We gave each a few weeks of medical treatment and all made a full recovery from the mites. Elvis & Moe debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Will you still want me when I get big?

Update: Tubba-Love was adopted on August 24th! Tubba-Love is a baby pot belly pig, adorable beyond words. He has a colorful personality and loves people, sneaking treats, going for walks in his harness (he is already housetrained), and living the good life in the air-conditioned indoors. Tubba-Love is approximately 5-6 months young. He was neutered last week, recovered well, so he is now ready for adoption. He is being socialized in the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms at Nevada SPCA. The cats do not mind him -- he only weighs 30 pounds, so he's not that much larger than the heftier cats. But this small size will not last. He's on his way to well over 100 pounds in adulthood as he grows during the next two years. Pot belly pig breeders frequently deceive buyers into believing that the pigs can be starved to remain small. What a repugnant notion - starving an animal to go against his or her nature - and it is also untrue. There is no doubt whatsoever that Tubba-Love will...

Please visit and adopt on the Fourth of July!

Nevada SPCA is open for adoptions on Saturday, July 4th, with regular hours: 11am-5pm. We have almost 200 dogs for adoption, including Anne (pictured here), who is a very sweet and unique Boxer & Pug mix, spayed female. More than 200 cats are available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Throughout July we have an adoption special on adult cats ($25 adoption fees with extra benefits). Please also visit Nevada SPCA's Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue Room to meet almost 70 bunnies (all spayed/neutered), and a half dozen guinea pigs, who are ready for adoption too. Other species available for adoption: hamsters, gerbils, pot belly pigs, birds, and a rooster. Please remember that we are also in urgent need of caring foster homes for newborn kittens. Visit the cat staff in the Cat Condos for more information on this incredibly important way to help support animal rescue.

I enjoy cuddling.

Update: Phyllis was adopted on June 30th! Phyllis is the cutest little "butter bean" -- a tiny ball of love. She is a young female guinea pig, with a cream & white coat, about 18 months of age. She is very affectionate with gentle people. Her other passion in life is her daily veggies -- she sings for them when she sees her salad bowl coming! Phyllis was found stuffed inside an otherwise emptied box of animal crackers. There was no note, no explanation, and no water. Thankfully, she was not thrown away accidentally, but instead picked up by someone who realized a tiny little life was inside. She is now thriving and ready for adoption in Nevada SPCA's Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue Room.

Guinea pigs like me have a world of love to share.

Update: Jillie was adopted on June 20th! Jillie is a friendly, young American breed guinea pig with gorgeous chestnut & butterscotch coloring. She came to us for rescue and recovery following severe neglect in her previous home that had left her emaciated, and her feet were in poor condition. Jillie has bounced back beautifully, thanks to loving care from Nevada SPCA's staff in the Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue Room. Jillie is approximately 18 months of age. She is not yet matched up with another female -- guinea pigs are very social animals -- so if you have a single female at home who needs a sister, Jillie may be a good match. Or consider adopting her and another female at Nevada SPCA and the staff will assist you with bonding them properly.

Intelligent, friendly, loving -- pigs are amazing!

Jellybean's eyes reveal both his wisdom and his fun-loving nature. When we arrive at his "Pig Pen" with treats or affection, he sprints over to us in a dash. He is well socialized with goats, sheep, chickens, and other pot belly pigs, including Francesca, who is pictured below him here. Jellybean & Francesca are two of the seven pot belly pigs at Nevada SPCA, five of whom are spayed/neutered and ready for adoption. All seven are the result of various families buying them at swap meets or pet stores as babies, unprepared for their brilliance and large adult sizes. Despite being wonderful, social animals, pigs are the hardest species for us to adopt (of the 15-20 domesticated species we typically rescue in the community). This is in part due to restrictions with some home owners' associations and some municipalities which disallow them living in residential areas. If you have the space and ability to welcome into your family an animal with the intelligence of a d...
