Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Vanessa chirps politely to let you know she would love to have your attention.  She is still very kitten-like at 2 years of age, interested in everything and fascinated by all of her toys.  Vanessa is a graceful silver tabby, a spayed girl, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.   She tends to get jealous of other cats and may do best as the only cat in your home so that she has you all to herself.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for her gorgeous portrait.

Lulu's physical and emotional recovery has been remarkable and she is ready for adoption in the Lovebugs Room at Nevada SPCA.  She is a sweet Agouti bunny, spayed girl, about 4 years of age.  Lulu was found in poor condition abandoned outside of an apartment complex.  She has thrived with fresh daily salads and gentle attention. Sam & Dean are very lovable, confident, friendly boys seeking a forever home where they can always remain together. Both are 3 years of age, neutered, and awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA. Sam is a Lilac mix bunny and Dean is an American mix. They needed us due to their previous owners' financial hardship. Special thanks to Pet'ographique for their cute portrait.

Andre doesn't yet know he's safe. He's terrified of people and tries to hide in his igloo.  He needs a gentle hero who can help him gain confidence and reach his full loving potential. Andre is a 5-pound California Giant guinea pig (sometimes known as "Cuy", a type of guinea pig reportedly bred for human consumption in Peru), about 2 years of age.  We rescued him from another shelter that asked for our help due to his timidity and enormous size.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for his portrait.

Greta prefers the quiet life. She is drawn to gentle people and builds ever-stronger relationships with humans and cats over time, based on trust and respect. Red Rock's smiling dimples and positive glow overshadow the scarring across his body. He shines with hope. Nutritious food has resulted in a gleam in his coat. Red Rock is unrecognizable from his rescue earlier this year (abandonment at a veterinary hospital, suffering from extreme neglect).    He enjoys people and wants to share his unconditional love.    Red Rock is 3 years of age and neutered, a unique blend of Shar-Pei and other breeds, fine with some dogs, awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA.    Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing his spirit in this portrait.

Pez is ready to build a magical bond with you that will strengthen every week, month, and year based on trust and respect. Bungee's light-hearted spirit emerges a bit more each day and he shows interest now in toys and activities. He has been healing steadily since August. At the time of rescue he had open cut wounds across his body (inconsistent with puncture marks from animals or vehicles).    Bungee is a Manchester Terrier mix, 7 years of age, neutered, and good with other friendly dogs, and awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA.    Special thanks to Pet'ographique for his fun new portrait.

Queenie steals the hearts of volunteers and staff with her agreeable personality, enthusiasm for adventure, and compatibility with kids and adults.  She is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, 7 years of age and spayed, awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Queenie may shake your hand to signal it's time to let her in the backyard to relieve herself.  She is compatible with some big dogs (but not small ones) and needs an experienced owner for her challenges, which include Houdini-like agility and escape abilities.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing her spirit in this new portrait.

Charm & Velma, October, 2015 35 abandoned rabbits, as discovered June 15, 2015 Before & After -- It's now been 4 months since the rescue of the 35 bunnies abandoned on a sidewalk in deplorable condition.  (All were unsocialized to a degree it was suspected they were being raised for food for humans or other animals or intended for some other harm.) Their progress has been phenomenal!  Both physically (eating Timothy hay and fresh daily salads) and emotionally (learning to trust humans and accept care), they are thriving.  As each improves, they are being spayed/neutered and adopted.  We have carefully bonded most into pairs, for meaningful lifelong companionship.  Charm & Velma , pictured here, courtesy of Pet'ographique (www.petographique.com) have been socialized in a wonderful foster home.  Both girls are approximately 1 year of age, spayed, and awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org).  Charm is a Hot Tot and ...

Moira studies people carefully as they care for her, whether it's preparing her daily salads of fresh greens or cleaning her habitat.  She wants to learn all she can and understand people.  Moira is an intelligent, lovely youngster, a blend of many bunny breeds, 1 year of age, spayed, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA in the Lovebugs Room. She was rescued from horrific neglect.  But she now has learned that people can be nurturing, so she enjoys people being around her. Gregory, adopted 9-year-old Nike last month.  He says Nike has settled in nicely, "almost as if he has known me his whole life.  Right from the start we had a connection that is strengthening with each passing day.  I'm amazed at how he simply melts into my arms!" Gregory also complimented the volunteers and staff dedicated to Nike : " Nike is surprisingly well-adjusted and always friendly to all park patrons -- both two-legged and four -- who we encounter on our walks each day.  I feel that I am blessed and very lucky to have Nike in my life.  He has found his Forever Home."

Freya gives gentle head bumps to encourage you to keep petting and adoring her.  She is a gorgeous girl, a golden tabby & Norwegian Forest mix, 4 years of age, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Freya was on the streets and pregnant at the time of rescue.  We placed her in a nurturing foster home where she birthed and raised her four babies.  ( Freya's kittens will be ready for adoption too in the weeks to come.)  Freya is very social and wants to be in a home where she can bond strongly with people and play with sparkle ball toys.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for her portrait.

Mimi & Kumo have such a calming presence that other cats want to be with them.  Both are incredibly kind and humble and heavenly spirits.  Mimi & Kumo are soul-mates who needed us due to a previous owner's allergies.  Mimi adores soft belly rubs.  Her soul-mate, Kumo , a boy, likes napping in the sun-rays through the windows.  They are 6 and 9 years of age, spayed/neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing their gentle souls in this new portrait.

We are so proud of Ranger's physical and emotional healing from abuse, as well as deeply grateful to the volunteers helping him understand that humans can be kind.  Ranger's right front leg was injured beyond repair at the time of rescue due to extreme trauma.  He has been adjusting well to life on three legs and he is ready to join a loving, stable, forever home.  Ranger is a super sweet Chihuahua mix, 2 years of age, good with other dogs, neutered, and available for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Nike is a benevolent older boy who loves building very strong bonds.  Not only is he terrific with people and dogs, he also adores cats and gets deeply attached to them.  Nike is a tuxedo Retriever & Shepherd mix, about 9 years of age, neutered and housetrained, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Zeus is well-behaved, compatible with kids and dogs, housetrained and crate-trained. He has a fun, pleasant personality and enjoys playing ball. Over the months Zeus has watched thousands of other rescued dogs get adopted, but he still awaits someone wonderful to want him for a devoted, lifelong companion and family member. Rascal's wonderful foster parents, Jennifer and Corey, shared these images of Rascal enjoying Willow Beach, Colorado River.  They welcomed 12-year-old Rascal into their hearts and home earlier this year, knowing that he is in his twilight months, and dedicated to giving him all the love and comfort they can.  Many of you may remember Rascal .  He has been a hero at Nevada SPCA, socializing severely neglected and abused dogs as their kennel mate, bringing them peace with his calm presence.  Thank you very much to Jennifer and Corey, and to Kris and the other remarkable volunteers who have worked with Rascal and the dogs he mentored while at the shelter.
