Update on Liza

Image
Liza, July 2 Liza, mid-July Liza, August 27 Wonderful update on Liza , the newborn kitten rescued from the storm drain! You may remember in early July, after a rainstorm, how a dog on a walk discovered Liza holding on to a storm drain. She was extremely fragile from poor health and eye infections. Her foster mom, Sonja, bottle-fed her every few hours, day and night, and Liza always helped her by holding the bottle too with her front paws. Liza is now 8 weeks of age and eating on her own. She is blind in her right eye, but she has partial vision in her left eye. Sonja says that "fearless" is an understatement in describing the baby. Liza leaps out of her crate for hugs, as if she can fly, jumping into Sonja's arms. Sonja will foster Liza for several more weeks. She will be ready for adoption this autumn at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org) once she has been spayed.

Angel needs a hero.

Angel , 10, asks for a very patient and understanding hero. She is partially blind, reportedly doing better in the daylight and able to go for nice walks, but nearly fully blind at night without bright light. Her hearing is also impaired to some degree. Angel is a petite Yorkshire Terrier, a spayed girl, fine with other dogs and older kids, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. We adopted her earlier this year. She was returned for barking when she got disoriented at night. We believe there are many reasonable and helpful steps that can be taken to help Angel adjust and feel secure. Please share her picture with someone who will be very committed to helping her achieve peace-of-mind during those moments when her sight is mostly gone. Thank you.

Matthew -- Before & After

A gentle, humble soul asking for nothing but kindness.  Matthew is a Shih-Tzu, 12 years of age, neutered boy, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Matthew was the victim of heartbreaking neglect.  He was at another shelter that asked for our help.  He is partially blind in both eyes, so please take thorough safety precautions for him throughout your home and yard.  We had dental care provided for him and 11 of his teeth had to be extracted.  Special thanks to Hair of the Dog Spa for his grooming transformation. Please help find someone wonderful to adopt Matthew .
