Jellybean & Licorice Update: Jellybean & Licorice were adopted on December 22nd! If only it was all about personality, then Jellybean & Licorice , a super-sweet and cheery sister-brother team, would have been snatched up by someone wonderful immediately after debuting for adoption. But the months have rolled by, as it often does for mixed breed dogs who are larger than Toy size and have black coats.  Nationwide, as we have written here before, these dogs are mistakenly overlooked in shelters. Pet'ographique has very generously helped us spotlight this pair of superstars with a brand new professional portrait, showing them at their eager, humble, gracious best. If you have room for a pair of soul-mates, then we urge you to consider Jellybean & Licorice .  They are medium-size Retriever mixes (smaller than most Retrievers), spayed/neutered, about 6 years of age.  Jellybean is a bit more petite than her tuxedo-clad brother Licorice . We rescued ...

Can we cuddle with you by the fireplace?

Ben & Jerry Update: Ben & Jerry were adopted on December 18th! Super cheery little troopers, these brothers carry sunshine and enthusiasm with them everywhere they go. Ben & Jerry are Shih Tzu mixes, neutered, just under two years of age, debuting for adoption today. As well as being brothers, they are soul-mates and they need to stay together forever. Ben & Jerry needed us because of their previous owner's financial hardship. The boys are good with cats and dogs and mature kids.  They are also reportedly housetrained and crate-trained. Please help them trim up a bit so that they are not so plump and please plan on quarterly professional grooming care for their soft, curly coats.

We are siblings and soul-mates.

Tyler & Leah Update: Tyler & Leah were adopted on December 23rd! We rescued these two attractive Jack Russell Terriers from another shelter, where they were taken after their previous owner unexpectedly passed away. Tyler & Leah are brother and sister, spayed/neutered, approximately 5 years of age.  Both are full of zip and spunk, with Tyler being a bit more assertive, while Leah is bit more easy-going. Beyond being siblings, they are strongly bonded soul-mates and it is important that they stay together forever. Jack Russell Terrier knowledge and/or experience is preferred for their adoption.

You & me against the world.

Lil & Kitty Update: Lil & Kitty were adopted on December 4th! Separating these young girls is out of the question.  Lil , especially, keeps her soul-mate Kitty in sight at all times. We rescued these two sweethearts from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space to keep them.  They had been with the same owner before being surrendered there, but we have no indication why they were kicked out of their previous family. Lil & Kitty are tiny and endearing, both affectionate with tender people.  Both girls are spayed and about one year of age.  Lil is a baby-facedToy mix and Kitty is a Longhair Chihuahua with gold eyes.  Lil will need regular grooming care and Kitty will need routine brushing. They debut for adoption today (and their adoption fees are reduced in order to encourage someone to adopt them as a lifelong pair). Please welcome these two into your life.  Together, they weigh less than 14 pounds, but they have a wo...

Could they have at least come to a complete stop before throwing us out of the car?

Tom Tom Missy Jamie Panda Update: Missy, Panda, and Tom Tom were adopted on November 20th! These four angels are bouncing back well from extreme trauma, and today they triumphantly debut for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Missy , and her brothers Jamie , Panda , and Tom Tom , were witnessed by one of our volunteers being thrown out of a slow-moving car in a taped-up box. She rushed them to us and we examined them for signs of injury.  With the help of a veterinary clinic it was determined they did not suffer any broken bones or other major physical injuries.  But they were terrified and in a state of shock, which tapered off after a few days of rest and tender care. They are now spayed/neutered, about 4-5 months of age ( Missy appears to be older and from a separate litter), and ready to find forever homes where they will be treated like treasures, not trash.  They can be adopted separately, but please consider a pair for lifelong companionship -- especi...

Being together keeps our outlook sunny and colorful.

Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn Update: Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn were adopted on November 24th! Staff and volunteers were so impressed with this classically attractive and sweet pair that they selected Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn for their names to emphasize their powerful lifelong bond. They are Dutch rabbits with stunning coloring, spayed/neutered, and approximately 5 years of age. Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn enjoy relaxing in their deluxe-size condo or playing together in a bunny-safe enclosure.  (Our staff can talk with you about making sturdy enclosures that give them freedom each day, indoors-only of course, and keep them away from electrical cords.) The pair needed us when their previous owner moved away without them. Please visit Nevada SPCA's new Lovebugs Room and ask for these two by name.

Like most other Italian Greyhounds, we are sensitive and loving.

Guy Daisy Update: Guy & Daisy were adopted on November 8th! Guy & Daisy are young, strongly bonded, very attractive Italian Greyhounds debuting for adoption today. Guy is like a cruise director who likes to keep track of the comings-and-goings in the household, knowing who is home and what they are doing.  He is called "a Biggie Iggie" because he is one of the larger types of Italian Greyhounds who are almost half-way to Whippet size.  He has tremendous stature. Daisy is outgoing too, but more dainty and snuggly.  She loves burrowing under blankets.  Like Guy , she has been well cared for and her posture is wonderful. These two needed us because their previous owner said he did not have time for them. Guy & Daisy are spayed/neutered and just under a year of age (11 months).  They are good with dogs, and reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and compatible with cats and older children. They need to remain t...

Do you have room for two sunny girls like us in your life?

Update: Boston & Sydney were adopted on January 21st! Boston & Sydney are strongly bonded girls, soul-mates, with cheerful dispositions. Boston is a Cairn Terrier mix and Sydney is a Silky Terrier.  Both are spayed, approximately 8 years of age, and need regular professional grooming care. We rescued these girls after they were dumped at a local veterinary clinic and had nowhere to go. Boston & Sydney love people, but they are choosy about which other dogs they will accept.  As always with an adoption, be sure to bring your dog(s) to meet them in our courtyard to ensure they get along. Separating the girls causes them distress.  They need to remain together forever.

We are brothers and soul-mates.

Update: Nasa & Jaxon were adopted on October 5th! We believe you will quickly fall in love with these chatty, playful, well-behaved young boys. Nasa & Jaxon are Dachshunds, neutered, 2 years of age, debuting for adoption today. These brothers needed us because their previous owner's granddaughter was allergic to them. Besides being good with other dogs, Nasa & Jaxon are reportedly housetrained, crate-trained, and compatible with cats and kind children. Dachshund knowledge and/or experience is preferred for their adoption.  They are soul-mates, as well as siblings, and need to remain together forever, please.

Can we count on you to make a lifetime commitment to us?

Update: Debi and DJ were adopted on September 16th! Debi & DJ are sister and brother, precious Chihuahua puppies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They are spayed/neutered, approximately 4 months of age, both gentle in spirit and full of love. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection. Debi & DJ can be adopted separately, but they are wonderful together. Please consider adopting them together for lifelong love and companionship. The babies needed us when their previous owner moved to a new home where pets are not allowed.

We were dumped secretly in the dead of night.

Update: Currier & Ives were adopted on September 3rd! The shelter's night security guard was walking outside around the building when he stumbled upon a cage with these two cute young boys inside. There was no food or water for them, or even a note. We named them Currier & Ives , and they are strongly bonded brothers, American breed guinea pigs, about one year of age. Though disposed of cowardly and recklessly, they do not show signs of abuse. Both are affectionate and outgoing, and especially enthusiastic for their daily greens and salads. Please adopt Currier & Ives and keep them together forever. You can meet them in our new Lovebugs adoption room for rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, and other small animals.

When the new baby arrived we got the boot.

Update: Donte & Samora were adopted on September 3rd! It is heartbreaking that loyal family companions like Donte & Samora , and countless other companion animals, get bumped out of households upon the arrival of human babies. Master adapters, most dogs and other pets can adjust to the family's new edition surprisingly well. Donte & Samora are debuting today for adoption and they are ready for a committed home where they never have to worry about rejection again. They are strongly bonded young Chihuahuas, soul-mates who adore one another. Donte is a cute little jumping bean of a boy, full of vigor, while precious Samora is a quieter-natured girl who likes to bury herself in cozy blankets. They are spayed/neutered and about 2 years young, good with other sweet dogs, and reportedly housetrained and crate-trained.

Adopt me with my mommy so I can stay with her forever, please.

Update: Catherine & Katiana were adopted on August 7th! Two month-old Catherine adores her mother with all of her heart. Katiana (right) was pregnant at the time of rescue, yet another victim of the home foreclosure crisis. The girls are American mixed breed guinea pigs with lovely cocoa coloring. Katiana is still a baby herself, despite being a mother, at approximately 9 months of age. Because of Catherine's young age and their tremendous bond, they need to go home together and have each other forever. You can meet Catherine and Katiana in our brand new "Lovebugs" adoption room for rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, and hamsters.

Despite our world being turned upside down, we are full of hope.

Update: Princess & Coco were adopted together on May 18th! Princess & Coco needed us when their previous owner had to move into hospice. Siblings and soul-mates, this precious pair of chocolate Toy Poodle mixes seek a quieter, loving home where they can feel safe and secure again. Princess & Coco are sister & brother, spayed/neutered, and reportedly 9 years of age. They are good with other sweet dogs and they are reportedly housetrained. Please plan on regular grooming care for them and budget extra accordingly.

We lean on each other to keep our hearts from breaking.

Update: Olivia & Barney were adopted on January 2nd! Olivia & Barney needed us when their owner passed away and they had nowhere to go. They are jubilant soul-mates, cheery and full of love, despite their confusion over what happened to their previous owner. Olivia & Barney are plump little Dachshunds, spayed & neutered, approximately 6-8 years of age. They debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Dachshund knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for their adoption. Olivia & Barney need to remain together forever. They enjoy other sweet dogs too. They reportedly know how to use a doggie door, but may need your patience and guidance to fully complete housetraining. This begins with a steady lifestyle routine.

We can bring you good cheer everyday.

Update: Tom & Jerry were adopted on July 20th! Tom & Jerry are delightful, cute little boys with sunny personalities. They love to kiss and snuggle with you. Both are Chihuahuas, neutered males, approximately 6-8 years of age. Tom is a Longhair Chihuahua and Jerry is a Shorthair Chihuahua. Tom & Jerry are strongly bonded soul-mates and need to stay together forever. They are also fine with other sweet dogs. We rescued Tom & Jerry from another shelter. We gave both dental cleanings and they debut for adoption today.

Room for two?

Update: Kalani & Tiger were adopted on July 25th! Kalani & Tiger are very lovable brothers who have charming personalities and enjoy snuggling. They are Shih-Tzus, neutered males, approximately 8 years of age. They are sweet with other dogs. Today, they debut together for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Kalani has one bright blue eye and often keeps a concerned look on his face. Tiger is the one who usually smiles and grins and expresses curiousity. We rescued these strongly bonded boys from another shelter. They had reportedly been confiscated from a veterinary hospital, presumably after being abandoned there. Kalani & Tiger need regular grooming. Their new owners needs to be 100% committed to keeping them together forever. Come meet and adopt these shining, friendly boys.

What does the future hold for us?

Image
Update: Comet & O'Ryan were adopted on July 9th! Comet & O'Ryan have had months of nurturing in a very caring foster home following their rescue, after losing their mother, at just 4 weeks of age. Besides developing good health, they have been socialized well with this extra special attention. They are very affectionate and loving. The brothers are neutered and now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. They are approximately 6 months of age. Comet is a silver tabby and O'Ryan is a brown tabby. Both boys have striking "M"s on their foreheads, plus spot marking on their sides and bellies suggesting possible Bengal mixing. The boys cherish each other. We strongly prefer that they are adopted together for lifelong companionship.

Sister and brother, together forever.

Image
Update: Rosie & Rocco were adopted on July 8th! Rosie & Rocco are siblings who have forged a very strong bond. So they're not just sister and brother, they are soul-mates, so keeping them together forever is a necessity. They are beautiful Papillons, spayed and neutered, just under four years of age. They debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Rosie & Rocco are fine with other sweet dogs, as well as with mature, gentle children. They require regular grooming care, so please be sure to budget extra accordingly. Papillon knowledge and/or experience is preferred. They needed us for rescue when their owner's home foreclosed and the family was split apart. Please help us honor the bonds of soul-mates by considering Rosie & Rocco or one of the other dozen pairs of bonded dogs for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Soul-mates Duke & Daisy need to stay together forever.

Image
These friendly, gorgeous Weimaraners are not related by blood, but their exceptionally strong bond is beautiful and powerful. Daisy, on the right, screamed for her soul-mate when they were just briefly separated for Duke's veterinary check-up. She enjoys letting him lead the way to make sure everything is safe for her. We rescued Duke & Daisy from euthanasia at another shelter. As you know, like the vast majority of animals surrendered to shelters and rescues, the animals are completely innocent and did nothing to deserve having their lives put at risk. Duke & Daisy are 4-6 years of age. Please come meet and adopt them today. Weimaraner knowledge and/or experience is required, as well as a full commitment to basic dog obedience training. Please also remember they are partners for life, never to be separated.
