Orville & Wilbur

Image
Orville & Wilbur , young brothers, Abyssinian guinea pigs with calico coloration, are ready for adoption in the Lovebugs Room at Nevada SPCA.  The boys are 1 year of age, and gentle and friendly with people who they become familiar with. They are bonded for life.  The brothers were surrendered by their previous owners who said their young child kept crawling into their habitat.

My sister makes me happy and helps me feel safe. We're a team.

Sweet Pea & Freesia are gorgeous young sisters debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  They are strongly bonded, plump guinea pigs who need to remain together forever.  (Guinea pigs are very social animals.)  The girls are friendly and sweet and love their daily salad greens.  Sweet Pea & Freesia were brought to us by a woman who said that her daughter had moved away without them.  Please come meet and adopt the girls in our Lovebugs Room.

We dream of a caretaker who will be kind and gentle.

Harris & Ferris are vibrant, outgoing young guinea pigs now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA in our Lovebugs Room.  They boys were rescued from a neglectful home.  Harris (the Abyssinian, on the left) had a nose injury, but he is healing well.  The boys are strongly bonded and need to remain together forever.  They are approximately 1 year of age.

Why did we become "unwanted" when we did nothing wrong?

Gabrielle & Xena are young, beautiful, sweet guinea pig sisters who are getting better each day about letting us handle them.  Both are very gentle, crested guinea pigs, about 18 months of age, with stunning color patterns and expressive eyes.  Guinea pigs are social animals and these girls are so strongly bonded that they need to remain together forever.  Please visit Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room and ask for Gabrielle & Xena by name.

Adams & Van Buren, baby brother guinea pigs for adoption.

Image
Adams & Van Buren are baby brothers who would like to stay together for lifelong companionship.  Guinea pigs are social animals and find tremendous joy and peace-of-mind with others of their kind, generally speaking.  Adams & Van Buren are cute boys, about 5 months of age, and very enthusiastic for their daily salad greens.  Please ask for the brothers by name in Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room. The boys needed rescue when they were reportedly purchased by a previous owner to be family pets, but it turned out a child was allergic to them.

Juliet & Viola, mother and daughter.

Image
Juliet, and her daughter Viola Viola (right) is a precious baby guinea pig who is just 4 weeks old and debuting for adoption today. Fitting into this beautiful, crazy, big world is infinitely easier thanks to the loving guidance of her mom, Juliet .  Guinea pigs are social animals and we want this mom-and-daughter pair to remain together forever for lifelong love and companionship. At the time of rescue, Juliet , an Abyssinian, was pregnant and living in a neglectful home. Please visit Nevada SPCA's ( www.nevadaspca.org ) Lovebugs Room and ask for Juliet & Viola by name.

John Wayne's life was saved by Chihuahuas.

Image
John Wayne could hardly be any cuter.  He is a sweet, young calico guinea pig, about 18 months of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please ask for John Wayne by name in our Lovebugs Room.  He had apparently been abandoned outdoors and crawled into a backyard where a man noticed his Chihuahuas circling and wrangling him.  The dogs did not hurt him, and instead effectively saved his life, as he stood no chance of survival outdoors alone.

Collinswood & Barnabas, adorable baby guinea pigs for adoption.

Image
Collinswood & Barnabas are baby brother guinea pigs, the sons of Harley (posted previously). The boys are adorable, lovable, and animated, just 6 weeks of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please ask for them by name in the Lovebugs Room. These stunning portraits are courtesy of Pet'ographique .

The cutest guinea pig portraits ever??

Image
Pet'ographique perfectly captures Harley's comical personality in these incredible portraits!  Harley is a good-looking young guinea pig debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Harley is a boy, about 10 months of age, and you can ask for him by name in the Lovebugs Room.

We are soul-mates.

Kya Sprinkles These two precious young girls needed us when their previous owner moved away without them. Both girls are one year of age.  Kya is an Abyssinian and Sprinkles is an American guinea pig. They are strongly bonded and need to remain together forever. Sprinkles has asthma so an experienced home is preferred. Please ask for Kya & Sprinkles in Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room.

My sister gives me comfort and peace-of-mind, even during the scary times.

Patchouli Tutu These gorgeous young girls are sweet little loves. Patchouli & Tutu are sisters, and soul-mates, and they need to remain together forever. They are guinea pigs, about 2 years of age, and they needed us because their previous owner suspected allergies to them. Unfortunately and tragically, countless animals become homeless due to suspected allergies, usually self-diagnosed, without ever visiting doctors to confirm that they are indeed allergic to animals, much less pursue courses of action with their doctors so they can keep their families intact. Patchouli & Tutu need an indoor-only lifestyle for their safety and protection in our extreme desert climate. Both girls are making steady progress with being held and handled by staff and volunteers.

The home foreclosure crisis is still endangering innocent lives, like ours.

Horace Edgar Horace & Edgar are strongly bonded baby boy guinea pigs rescued from a vacated yard.  We want to honor their bond by adopting them together for lifelong companionship. Both boys are approximately 5 months of age.  Horace is an American breed and Edgar is a Peruvian. Having scavenged to survive, the boys never take their good meals here for granted.  They squeal in ecstatic delight each day when we bring them their bowls of fresh salad greens. We have been handling Horace & Edgar and they are making steady improvements with being held by people.

Every day is full of joy and peace since I have my sister with me.

Lorelei Dorothy Guinea pigs, like people, are very social animals and generally do best in pairs. These two baby girls, Lorelei & Dorothy , are sisters and soul-mates, strongly bonded and they want to remain together forever.  They are about 5 months of age, American breed, and we rescued them from another shelter.  Like rabbits, they need to live strictly indoors in our desert climate in order to stay cool and remain safe.  They do not tolerate heat well and can perish in the heat. Both Lorelei & Dorothy are on the shy side, so an experienced home is best for them to help the girls become more socialized. Please ask for them by name in Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room.

Life is infinitely sweeter having a brother.

Image
Moe Orson These friendly, outgoing youngsters needed us due to their previous owner's financial hardship. Moe & Orson are guinea pigs, strongly bonded boys who want and need to stay together forever.  Both are 2 years of age and quite handsome.  Moe is an Abyssinian mix and Orson is an American breed with calico coloring. Like rabbits, they thrive indoors with cool temperatures.   Outdoor living in our desert climate is completely out of the question and could be fatal. Please visit Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room and ask for Moe & Orson by name.

Shower me with attention.

Carmella is one of the more outgoing and affectionate guinea pigs we can remember rescuing in quite some time.  She enjoys being held and purrs when you gently rub behind her ears. She is a beautiful guinea pig, most likely an American & English breed mix, approximately 2 years young.  We love her silky caramel coloring and warm eyes. Carmella needed us when her previous owners moved out-of-state and chose not to take her. Please come meet and adopt her in Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room.

I will continue blooming with loving care.

Update: Livingston was adopted in January! Livingston is a super cute guinea pig, still a baby at about 8 months of age.  He has a chestnut, tan, and white coat and we believe he is an American and English smooth-coat mix. He is understandably reserved, rescued from a neglectful home.  But as he gets used to us, and our steady presence with fresh greens, Timothy hay, and clean water, he is beginning to bask in the loving attention. Please know that at first though in your home this sweet little boy may prefer to hide out in his igloo.  Please don't force him or rush him, and let him warm up naturally with you as he builds a relationship of trust over time. Livingston is ready today to meet you in Nevada SPCA's Lovebugs Room.

Is there room in your family for me?

Update: Missy was adopted on December 24th! Missy likes resting and hiding in her cubby hole, but she bravely comes out to greet us and when we deliver her daily greens and veggies. She is fine with being held, as long as you are gentle and patient with her, and hold her for only short times. Missy is a beautiful American breed guinea pig with cocoa, orange, and white coloring, about 3 years of age. Despite being such a sweetheart and well-behaved, her previous owner no longer wanted her.  Like all animals, she deserves someone who will remain committed to her for her whole life. Missy is ready for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's Lovebug Room.

We are sisters and soul-mates.

Miss Puff & Sandy Update: Miss Puff & Sandy were adopted on December 10th! Miss Puff & Sandy are still babies at approximately 6-7 months of age.  They are lovely Texel Guinea Pigs, an English breed known for their corkscrew curls. The girls are entertaining to watch and engage, whether they are dancing in anticipation of their daily greens & veggies, or snuggling together in their igloo for a nap. Miss Puff & Sandy needed us when their previous owner did not want them anymore. They need gentle brushing and a clean living environment for good hygiene with their long coats.

We have lyrical personalities.

Rodgers & Hammerstein Update: Rodgers & Hammerstein were adopted on December 13th! Together, these brothers make beautiful music. They are chatty youngsters, and their sing-song squeals of delight for their daily greens and veggies, and when they greet one of our staff or volunteers they know, produce a lively melody. We named them Rodgers & Hammerstein .  They are approximately 18 months of age, American & English mix smooth coat guinea pigs, and they are so strongly bonded that they need to remain together forever for lifelong companionship. The boys needed us because their previous owner thought a family member was allergic to them. Please ask for Rodgers & Hammerstein by name in our new Lovebugs Room.
