Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

If it was up to Mermaid she would never be dry.  At least a wading pool of some kind is a must for this aquatic girl!  Mermaid is a resplendent Chocolate Labrador Retriever, 4 years of age, spayed girl, now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Like her namesake, she is exceptionally loyal and may ignore people she doesn't know.  But once she bonds with you Mermaid blesses you with tremendous charm.  We rescued Mermaid from another shelter and treated her neck and back wounds.

Violet is a tiny, 5-pound junior puppy (10 months of age) who yearns for reassurances and comfort.  She is humble and unassuming, very shy, but she will bloom in a loving, stable home environment where she understands that she is cherished and safe.  Violet is a Longhair Chihuahua mix, perhaps with Terrier, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She gets along very well with other dogs and a big brother dog or big sister dog may be very helpful in her development and progress toward becoming a well-adjusted, well-balanced girl.

Muffin is a young girl with a gentle soul and a flamboyant appearance.  She is a Shih-Tzu & Lhasa Apso mix, 2 years of age, spayed, and now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued her from another shelter to treat her mid-grade heart murmur -- she is on daily medication for life and needs a leisurely lifestyle.  Muffin sits in our laps and kisses our chins and cheeks in gratitude.  Muffin enjoys other friendly dogs too and she needs regular professional grooming.  Please ask for her by name today when you visit (new Sunday adoption hours are from 10am-1pm).

Kaili is an exceptionally devoted girl, very content to be cradled in your arms as she looks up into your eyes lovingly.  She is an English Toy Spaniel & Papillon mix, about 4 years of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Kaili is good with other dogs and reportedly housetrained.  She needed us when her previous owner passed away and she had nowhere safe to go.

This beautiful, outgoing girl had been abandoned on a golf course.  She would not have survived the coyotes, much less the extreme heat wave (as domesticated bunnies are in danger in high temperatures).  We named her Millicent .  She is a Lop rabbit, about 2-3 years of age, spayed, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please ask for her by name in our Lovebugs Room.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing Millicent's adventurous spirit in this elegant portrait to help her find a loving, forever, indoor-only home.

Mahealani ("heavenly moonlight") is a Chihuahua mix puppy and social butterfly who loves people, cats, and dogs.  She is about 8 months of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Mahealani's front right leg was broken so severely it could not be saved, but she has adjusted well to life on three legs.  She recovered from her amputation surgery in a foster home and helped her foster family greet and welcome rescued newborn motherless kittens who also needed wonderful foster care.  She is reportedly pad-trained and housetrained.  Please ask for Mahealani specifically by name when you visit.

Once Emily trusts you, she is glued to your side, as your kind presence helps her believe she can live in a world free of any further violence and cruelty.  A monster wounded her soul with hitting and screaming, but her spirit will bloom in a stable, experienced, gentle home environment.  Emily is a lovely Cocker Spaniel, 2 years young, spayed girl, ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Emily is good with other dogs, reportedly crate-trained, and needs regular professional grooming.  Please help find a hero for Emily so she only sees the best of human nature from now on.

Lexi is a magical, endearing girl who is ready for a loving, forever home. At the time of rescue she was confused and distraught, so we are celebrating her progress (thanks to compassionate volunteers and staff) with these new portraits courtesy of the wonderful Pet'ographique . Lexi is a Miniature Pinscher mix, about 8 years of age, spayed, housetrained, crate-trained, and good with other sweet dogs, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

Chloe is a bashful little lady who worries how she is supposed to fit into this crazy world.  She shines though with gentle, soft-spoken people and her self-esteem will continue to build beautifully in a stable, loving home environment.  Chloe is a beautiful, petite Miniature Pinscher, about 5 years of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Chloe's nose and jaw lean right (likely from birth) and function normally.  We rescued her from another shelter that asked for our help because she was so shy.

Saylar is a rescued pregnant young cat expected to give birth in about one week.  She needs a quiet, comfortable room where she can peacefully birth and raise her babies for the next 3 months.  If you can help Saylar or any of the other rescued pregnant cats, please visit Nevada SPCA today (Saturday) before 5pm and ask for Lonnie. Saylar is a calm, pensive girl, just 1 year of age.  At the time of rescue she had been abandoned outdoors and she was persistently pleading with a family for them to let her indoors to have her babies.

At the time of rescue London had five puppies, about 6 weeks of age, reportedly found wandering in a neighborhood.  London's puppies are still in foster care, but this young mom is now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  London is a very gentle Longhair Dachshund mix, 2 years of age, and compatible with dogs and older kids.  She longs for stability and kindness, with a calm home environment best for her.

At the time of rescue this lovely silver Persian was being held to the ground by two children who were "shaving" her for their amusement.   She has pleading eyes and craves affection and kindness. We named her Aurora .  She is about 6 years of age and now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is fine with other cats.   Please plan on regular brushing of Aurora (as her coat grows out).  From now on, she needs the safety of living indoors only.

Flora, on June 17, after her rescue. Flora's coat was so matted that it fused together, and was shaved off on in essentially one piece. Flora, on the afternoon of June 18. Sometimes the neglect is so unconscionable and extreme that we need to show you the before & after pictures of the rescued animals. Flora's "before picture" above does not completely convey how filthy and knotted she was yesterday.  We rushed her to a veterinary clinic, worried there were insects on her skin and in her coat.  The veterinarian determined that her jaw was broken long ago and healed lopsidedly, but functionally. Special thanks to Terri Harris, at Dewey Veterinary Medical Center, for spending much of the afternoon cleaning and shaving and grooming Flora. We expect Flora to be ready for adoption this week.  We want to find her a home where she never again feels worthless or forgotten.  From now on Flora needs only the best of human nature and the understanding ...

At the time of rescue Queen Anne was abandoned in the lobby of a building, roped to a trash can, understandably traumatized.  But during her many weeks here, volunteers and staff have seen that she is a pearl, a treasure.  Queen Anne loves going on picnics, playing with squeaky toys, playing in the water hose, and sneaking doggie kisses on your chin.  She is an athletic, beautiful Bully mix, about 4 years of age, spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Please help us find her a loving, forever home where she is never again mistaken for garbage.

Pookey was found on a busy Las Vegas street missing her left front leg and taken to another shelter.  She is now safe at Nevada SPCA and ready to find a loving, forever home where she will always be indoors and safe, a treasured member of the family.  Pookey is a lovely brown tabby who delights in laying in your lap and soaking up affection.  A leisurely lifestyle is perfect for her.  Pookey is fine with other cats (who give her space), about 9 years of age, and spayed.  Please help us find Pookey a gentle home.

Cordelia was dropped off in a shabby cardboard box, pregnant, due to give birth at any moment.  Four days later she gave birth to four kittens.  Now, several months later, Cordelia is spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Her kittens have since been spayed/neutered and all four have already been adopted.  Cordelia is a beautiful blue, cream & white shorthair, 2 years young, with an inquisitive personality.  She seems to be great with mature kids, but intolerant of other animals.  Please help us find Cordelia a loving, indoor-only, stable home where she will never face abandonment and rejection again.

Miranda is a very sensitive, beautiful girl who is worried someone will strike her or scream at her. Miranda has been the victim of abuse, which likely caused the old injury to her back left leg that results in occasional limping. But she is drawn to very soft-spoken people (especially if they use “baby-talk”) and she will take baby steps toward you slowly as she begins to trust you and your intentions. Please help us find her a hero. She is a medium-size Australian Shepherd & Border Collie mix, approximately 5 years of age.   We rescued Miranda from another shelter. She is good with other dogs.  In fact, another dog in the home may help her adjust.

Ava Gardner is an elegant, graceful young girl with a very kind soul and she is ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA in our Lovebugs Room.  She is an English Spot bunny, under 2 years of age and spayed.  A quiet, stable, indoor-only home is ideal for her.    We rescued Ava Gardner from another shelter.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this wonderfully sweet portrait to help Ava Gardner find a loving, forever home.

Butterfly Kisses is named for her most gentle of temperaments and her need for a fresh new start in life.  She is a lovely Golden & Yellow Labrador Retriever mix, spayed girl, about 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Butterfly Kisses was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her severe neglect.  She was filthy, with signs of improper nutrition, and the only thing certain known about her past was that she was confiscated by police from her previous household.  Please help us find a hero for Butterfly Kisses , someone who will show her what it feels like to be cherished and comfortable and pampered in a loving, forever home.
