Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Puffie has been the victim of heartbreaking malnutrition and neglect. Though only 8 years of age, he looks and moves like he is 18 years of age.    We rescued Puffie from another shelter 5 weeks ago. He has improved since then with veterinary care, premium meals and nutritious treats, and socialization with staff and volunteers. Puffie is an exceptionally gentle American Eskimo and he is grateful for all kindness. He is neutered, good with other dogs, and ready for a hero adoption at Nevada SPCA. It is imperative that you keep Puffie on premium and nutritious food so his skin, coat, and body continues to heal, as well as resulting in more energy and muscle.

A family found Wayman in their garage. He was hungry, in poor condition from severe neglect, and suffering from a head wound. Wayman is a humble young boy making a beautiful recovery. He is a Poodle & Schnauzer mix, 1 year of age, good with other dogs, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Wayman has an old injury to his left eye, resulting in impaired vision in that eye during the day and what appears to be night blindness. So please take thorough safety precautions for him throughout your home and yard.

There's a story behind all of the emotions revealed in Courage's eyes in this picture. We are telling him that he'll soon finally know what a loving home feels like and he's trying hard to understand every word. Courage is a Mastiff & Plott Hound mix (81 pounds), 5 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is good with dogs (but small dogs unknown). Courage was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his soft tissue injuries. He had sustained massive trauma to his hips and back legs (from an unknown cause, discovered in the streets with a metal chain and lock pulling down on his neck).     Courage is now walking on his legs again. He usually remains calm, but has spurts of activity. Please share his picture and help find him a responsible forever home where he will never experience violence again.

Knight is steadily building courage and self-esteem, and he's on his way toward reaching his loving potential.  Of the 33 dogs confiscated from squalor and horrors, he was in the most emotional distress and panicked whenever he was the focus of attention. Knight has now begun crawling in our laps, walking short distances on leash, and accepting care and kindness without freezing in fear. He is 3 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Duncan worries that people disapprove of him.    Once reassured that you are pleased with him, he begins to calm and sit closer to you.    It's heartbreaking he has such little self-esteem at 7 years of age, but it's certainly not too late for him to come to realize that he is magnificent and worthy of love. Jenna , a sensitive young girl with tremendous loving potential, wants to believe in people. But she is terrified of quick hand movements and shows other signs of enduring cruelty.    Please help us find her a gentle hero who can provide a stable home where she can bloom. Lainie , an adorable baby girl now healthy and full of life, debuts for adoption on Christmas Eve at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org).    She is joyful and ready to kiss everyone and make her mark on this world! At the time of rescue this past autumn Lainie was at another shelter and in poor condition from malnutrition.    She has thrived beautifully here with premium probiotic food and tender care.    Lainie is a Chihuahua puppy, now 4 months of age and spayed.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety.   Lainie is very social and craves attention and adoration.

Albie is a sensitive Shih-Tzu who wants to believe in people and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Albie is afraid of hands, feet, newspapers, sticks, and objects he fears you may throw at him.    Strangers terrify him, then he is so relieved when he bonds with someone kind.    Albie was found out on the streets, so we can only imagine what he endured.    He is 6 years of age, good with cats and dogs, and now neutered.    Please help find Albie a gentle hero.

Magnus has quiet, powerful charm and a friendly nature and he is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is a good-looking Cocker Spaniel, 4 years of age, neutered, and good with other dogs.  Please plan and budget for regular professional grooming. At the time we rescued Magnus he was at another shelter with a torn ligament (from trauma unknown). He has been healing well and now he is ready for a fresh start and new life.

MacArthur , an earnest junior puppy, does not yet realize that he is magnificent and worthy of love. He usually hangs his head low, submissively, hoping not to catch anyone's attention. But this morning we gave MacArthur 15 minutes to warm to us before taking his picture. He gradually began assuming good posture, let us touch him, and then finally lifted his chin. MacArthur is only 10 months of age and we look forward to the day when he feels like a puppy again. He is an exceptionally attractive Heinz 57 with Shepherd, neutered, housetrained, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. MacArthur's lack of self-esteem is a mystery. We rescued him from another shelter and only have limited information about his past.    He needs a gentle, experienced hero in an adult-only home to help him continue progressing and reaching his full loving potential.

Stanford is a bashful boy building confidence and he is ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, 6 years of age, neutered, and good with other dogs. Stanford was found on the streets in poor condition (hernia, dental problems, no sign of responsible ownership).  He is healing very well physically and making good progress emotionally too.  Please help find someone gentle for Stanford to love.

Sir Hugs A Lot grabs your hands with his paws and holds tight, pleading for kindness.  He is recovering well from severe neglect and malnutrition, the latter contributing to 25 of his teeth that had to be extracted.  Sir Hugs A Lot is a Toy Poodle, 7 years of age, neutered, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued him from another shelter that asked for our help.  Please share his picture to help him find someone who will cherish him dearly.

Honey Rose , 8, needs a fresh start and someone to love who will treasure her devotion.  She is a lovely German Shepherd, spayed, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Honey Rose is recovering from abuse and neglect. She is afraid of some mean. At the time of rescue she was at another shelter in urgent need with an ear infection and injured tail, which required amputation.  Please help find a hero for Honey Rose .

Bambi Dear Mom Bambi and her mother, Dear Mom , debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. The girls are part of a large group rescued from another shelter that ceased operations.  Bambi is 5 months of age and Dear Mom is 1 year of age, and both are now spayed. As much as we would love them to be adopted together, this is not required because their emotional needs at this time are so different. Bambi is demure and wonderfully affectionate and craves cuddling. Dear Mom tries to avoid human contact, but she is also gentle and did agree to sit on a lap today for her picture.  Dear Mom is a medium-size Australian Cattle Dog & Dutch Shepherd mix and she needs your patience to gradually improve socialization based on trust and respect.

Mozart , realizing that people can be kind and nurturing, is overcoming a violent past and daring to hope for a peaceful future.  He is an exceptionally attractive Dachshund, 5 years of age, a neutered boy, housetrained, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Mozart is especially fearful of strangers and children.  We don't know what he has endured.  Mozart was at another shelter that asked for our help.  A very experienced, adult-only home can help him continue reaching his full loving potential.

Dovey & Lovey , sisters, are 9 years of age, but going to parks and swimming is new to them.  Their previous owner passed away and by all accounts dearly loved them, but due to mental illness sometimes kept them in horrendous conditions.  Through it all, the sisters loved her, and they had each other to love too.  Needless to say, Dovey & Lovey are bonded for life, never to be separated, and we ask for your help in finding them a home where they can begin anew with a bright, fresh start.  The girls are small Labrador Retriever mixes, spayed, good with cats and dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Rainbow's colorful personality is shining so beautifully, thanks to volunteers and staff who have helped her recover from abuse.  Her favored activities include fetching tennis balls and kissing people on their chins.  Rainbow is a golden-eyed Bully mix, 5 years of age and spayed, awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is wonderful with people, but needs to be the only animal in the home.
