Image
Abigail, Nathaniel, Sebastian Bambi, their mother, when rescued in December Bambi's babies -- Abigail , Nathaniel , and Sebastian -- love to snuggle when done playing with their toys.    Lovingly raised in a wonderful foster home, they are now 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . Many of you will remember Bambi . She was pregnant and nearly ready to give birth when rescued in December.    Bambi has since been spayed and adopted. Now, it's time for her babies to find forever homes too.

Rescued baby birds.

Image
Good news! As we were preparing this post we confirmed a loving foster home for five abandoned baby birds just rescued an hour ago. A veterinary hospital found a small cardboard box outside of their front door and could hear the crying pleas for help from the babies. They found four ducks and a chicken inside. Their foster mom is experienced with birds and providing nurturing care to very young animals.

Breeze and her babies need a foster hero please.

Image
These four babies, just a week of age, and their mother, Breeze , need a foster hero please for approximately 10 weeks of nurturing care and socialization. If you can help, please visit Nevada SPCA in person and ask for Lauren. A couple found mom and babies in the backseat of their car. They had accidentally left a door ajar. Breeze has taken good care of her plump, well-cleaned kittens, even though she herself was in very poor and hungry condition.    We want to ensure Breeze and her babies never again know hunger or homelessness.     ( Breeze was too bashful to be photographed this morning, so the picture here is just of her four babies in a basket.)

Maria and Rafael need foster care please.

Image
Rescued babies Maria and Rafael are two of the eight very young kittens so far today who need loving foster homes. If you can help foster, please visit Nevada SPCA in person and ask for Lauren. Maria and Rafael are about 5 weeks of age and have begun to eat on their own. They were found homeless and in need.    The foster commitment for these babies is approximately 6 weeks please, for nurturing care and kind socialization.

Lily Nolan Lily and Nolan , sister and brother puppies, debut for adoption at 1pm today at Nevada SPCA .    They are super sweet and adorable Retriever mixes (we believe one of their parents is a Golden Retriever), now 3 months of age and spayed/neutered. We rescued Lily and Nolan when they were newborns at another shelter that asked for our help. (Their seven siblings will be ready for adoption in the days and weeks to come too.)    Since their rescue, they have been lovingly raised with cats, dogs, and a gentle child in a wonderful foster home. Please consider adopting Lily and Nolan together for lifelong love and companionship.

Liza

Image
November 4 July 6 August Liza triumphantly debuting for adoption today! Many of you will remember this past summer when a 10-day-old blind baby was found clinging to a storm drain. A couple walking their dog after the rainstorm discovered her and saved her from being washed away and drowned. Her face was covered by an enormous scab of infection (our photo is too graphic to post), resulting in the loss of her right eye and partial destruction of her left eye. Sonja, her foster mom, named her Liza , and nurtured her with remarkably tender care. Liza's desperate will to live was evident in many ways, including how she grasped her bottle. Liza is now 4 months of age, spayed, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA . More than anything, she loves being held and cuddled. A gentle, reassuring touch means everything to her. Liza is fearless at times. A special room with low-standing surfaces may continue to be ideal. She sometimes cli...

Chief needs a hero please!

Image
Chief hugs your arm when you hold him and gives puppy kisses when you praise him. He is an exceptionally affectionate German Shepherd puppy, 5 months of age, good with other dogs, and awaiting a foster hero at Nevada SPCA. Chief was found abandoned in a park, unable to walk, with no sign of responsible ownership. His back legs have fused joints (birth defect) and do not bend. Chief can stand on his back legs for short amounts of time, if you help him up, but at this time he is unable to maneuver to a standing position on his back legs without assistance. Chief's veterinary specialist believes there is hope with a variety of possible solutions. Choosing which one will depend on how he manages in a foster home and if his walking improves or if needs a lifestyle affixed to wheels. Please share Chief's pictures to help find someone wonderful for him. Thank you.

The foster commitment would be for approximately 3 months. Thank you.

Update on Rosie

Image
Many of you may recall Rosie , posted here on September 27 , pregnant and rescued from another shelter (that ran out of space). Rosie's foster parents sent us these two new pictures. Yesterday Rosie gave birth to 9 babies in the care and comfort of her foster home. They report she is doing well, very attentive to her babies, and so relieved that she has such a wonderful place to raise them. [Thank you to all who share posts to help Rosie and other animals needing foster homes and forever homes. We appreciate that you use social media for kindness.]

Bertolo needs a foster home please.

Image
Just rescued and needing a foster home please! Bertolo , a precious Shih-Tzu puppy, is just 4 weeks of age and still needs bottle feeding. He will soon be ready to transition to wet/canned food. He was surrendered by his previous owner who did not know how to care for him. A breeder scammed her on a popular anonymous classified ads web site and sold her a puppy "8 weeks" of age for hundreds of dollars. Bertolo was far too young to be separated from his mother. (Authorities are being notified so that this breeder can be stopped and brought to justice.) His previous owner did not realize he required bottle feeding and became alarmed that he was not eating dry kibble. (He went more than 50 hours without eating.) Bertolo just had a veterinary evaluation and she believes he will thrive well in a responsible foster home with the bottle feeding and loving care he needs.

Doodlebug's triumphant recovery!

Image
Doodlebug's remarkable triumph over malnutrition and extreme neglect! This precious baby girl debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Doodlebug lays her head on your shoulder when you carry her in your arms. She has an angelic temperament and she is a Heinz 57 with Bully, now 4 months of age and spayed. On July 22, the day of her rescue from another shelter (picture 2), Doodlebug could not walk.  Click here for a 14-second video of her on that day.  Her front legs were weak and curled inward to such an extent she could not balance on them. We took her to an advanced veterinary care specialty center and the veterinarians there determined that the problem was not birth defects, but instead malnutrition and unconscionable confinement. (They suspect her previous owners had her in some type of enclosure where she was unable to walk.) They outlined a therapy and food plan for Doodlebug and hoped she could make a full recovery. ...

Bella Rose

Image
Bella Rose's favorite things include sleeping at your side on the bed, playing with stuffed animal toys, and bonding with other dogs. Thanks to exceptional foster care, she no longer fears violence. Bella Rose is a puppy with a beautiful soul and captivating eyes, 5 months of age and spayed, a blend of Bully and Basenji and more. She is now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. At the time of rescue Bella Rose had a broken front leg. She was reportedly thrown down a flight of stairs by her previous owner (and authorities were alerted). Bella Rose becomes very devoted to those who are kind to her.
