Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Conan is a regal youngster with a down-to-earth personality and fun-loving spirit.  He loves playing in water, so please consider a wading pool of some kind for endless hours of pleasure.  Conan is an Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky mix, 2 years of age and neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  He was rescued from another shelter that asked for our help. There was apparently at least one violent episode against him from his previous owner.

Sassy , an 8-week-old Yorkie-Poo, needs an experienced foster parent please for approximately 6 weeks. She is very nervous and needs more socialization in a patient, calm home environment. If you can help Sassy , please visit Nevada SPCA in person and ask for Joellyn. Sassy was unwanted by her previous owners. Another dog -- an older brother or sister -- may help her adjust and feel more secure.

Victoria , a beautiful young spirit, pleads for consideration and a stable home where she will always be treasured and safe.  She is a German Shepherd, 1 year of age, housetrained & crate-trained, good with dogs and older kids, and now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Victoria is very timid with new people. We do not know what she endured in her previous home and she inexplicably had an untreated neck wound at the time of rescue.  A very experienced home is needed to prove to Victoria that humans can be kind, nurturing, and gentle.

Louie is blind. If you hold him with confidence, he feels very much at ease in your arms. Louie is 1 of the 24 chinchillas rescued earlier this month. 12 are still awaiting loving, forever homes at Nevada SPCA. All are recovering from neglect and approximately 8 years of age. They were allegedly being used for breeding in a previous home. We are seeking homes where they will be cherished for their individual personalities and spirits, never to be bred or neglected again. Louie adores people, but he gets anxious being around other chinchillas. He is one of the few chinchillas who need to be adopted separately, while most of the others need to be adopted in pairs due to their very social natures.

Lawrence beams when he knows you are proud of him and respectful.    He is an exceptionally cute Miniature Pinscher, 7 years of age, neutered boy, housetrained & crate-trained, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Lawrence was surrendered to us because the 10-year-old child in his previous home was reportedly taunting him cruelly (stealing treats and food from his mouth, and worse). The parent said the child had been reprimanded repeatedly for these behaviors, but was not improving, and feared for Lawrence's safety and the child's safety. We want to find Lawrence a responsible home where he never has to fear being teased or have things given to him taken away. Experienced, adult-only home needed, at least in the short run, as he improves with trust.

Felicia , a radiant young sweetheart, is 1 of the 35 rescued Blond Angels and she debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    She may continue adjusting best in a home with a sister or brother dog for guidance.    Felicia is a White Shepherd mix, 2 years of age and now spayed. Her siblings, cousins, and the other Blond Angels become ready for adoption based on their emotional development and progress.    The 35 were saved from a home where the previous owners were convicted of animal cruelty. Kaiser is a brilliant, loyal boy hoping you will accept his unconditional devotion. He is a magnificent German Shepherd, 4 years of age, housetrained & crate-trained, good with cats & dogs & older kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Kaiser needed us when his previous owners moved away without him. An experienced home is required because he is territorial in terms of not wanting strangers (especially unknown men in uniforms) on the family property.

Ned , a baby boy drawn to gentle people, is ready for adoption in the Lovebugs Room at Nevada SPCA.  He is an American guinea pig with calico coloring, 6 months of age. Ned is becoming more comfortable about being handled and needs an experienced home to help him continue progressing.  He needed us because he was unwanted by his previous owner.

Finn , a super cute junior puppy, needs someone to love.    He is a Corgi & Longhair Chihuahua mix, neutered boy, 10 months of age, good with other dogs, housetrained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Finn was at another shelter that asked for our help due to an allegation by his previous owner that he is protective of his toys. We have not witnessed any protective behaviors from him in relation to food or toys or anything else. But to err on the safe side an experienced owner is needed who will ensure he is given kind guidance to learn good, well-adjusted behaviors.

Edward is a handsome, bright-eyed young boy about to discover what a loving home feels like. Please help him find a hero. Edward and several more dogs were confiscated from a home where they were severely neglected. Their previous owner was convicted. The shelter housing them asked for a transfer to Nevada SPCA for socialization and special needs adoptions. All of the dogs were transferred to Nevada SPCA this week and Edward is the first of the group ready to be adopted. Most of Edward's life has been spent in a kennel while his previous owner awaited trial. He has never experienced a loving home, so he needs your kind guidance and patience. Edward is eager to please, and quite intelligent, so we believe he will continue to pick up more good behaviors quickly in an experienced home. Edward is a Dutch Shepherd mix, perhaps with Belgian Malinois, 1 year of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Alicia , a radiant young girl, needs someone to devote herself to. She is intelligent, devoted, and athletic. Alicia is a gorgeous blend of Border Collie & Australian Cattle Dog, 3 years of age and spayed, housetrained & crate-trained, good with other dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.    She is wary of strangers and needs time to warm to new people.    Alicia needed us due to her previous owner's disability and inability to handle her high energy level.

Wilma is a peppy, bashful young girl who is building trust with people.  She is a 2.5-pound California Giant guinea pig (sometimes known as "Cuy", a large type of guinea pig bred for human consumption in South America), 2 years of age, ready for adoption in the Lovebugs Room at Nevada SPCA.  Wilma was found abandoned in a vacated home.  Please help find her a home where she will be forever safe and treasured.

Winslow , a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix junior puppy, was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his timidity.  He has very little self-esteem and dreads people handling him.  But our experience is that Winslow yearns to be comforted and he will reach his full loving potential once he is in a very experienced and stable home.  Winslow is 7 months of age, neutered, good with dogs (but he cannot be around cats), and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

Queenie steals the hearts of volunteers and staff with her agreeable personality, enthusiasm for adventure, and compatibility with kids and adults.  She is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, 7 years of age and spayed, awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Queenie may shake your hand to signal it's time to let her in the backyard to relieve herself.  She is compatible with some big dogs (but not small ones) and needs an experienced owner for her challenges, which include Houdini-like agility and escape abilities.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing her spirit in this new portrait.

We cannot say enough about Scooby's magnetic charm!  He is a 120-pound lovebug, an exceptionally friendly Bloodhound mix, 6 years of age and neutered, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Scooby was at another shelter that asked for our help due to his entropion (inward-slanting eyelids).  His veterinarian determined that because of his naturally drooping eyelids, there is little contact between his eyes and eyelashes and he's showing no signs of discomfort.  Scooby is stronger than he realizes and pulls the person walking him if not reminded to be at a pace together.  Bloodhound knowledge is strongly preferred for his adoption and we don't yet know whether he is compatible with other dogs.

Zelda is responding very well to kindness and realizing that we intend her no harm.  She is bonding beautifully with staff and volunteers, and she's now ready to debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Zelda is a Rottweiler, 4 years of age and spayed, approximately 95 pounds.  Rottweiler knowledge is needed for her adoption. She was at another shelter that asked for our help because she became alarmed when people touched her mouth to check her teeth.  We are now able to pet and touch Zelda without fear, nevertheless, an experienced and adult-only home is required so she can continue safely reaching her full loving potential.

During pictures this morning Arabella was waving her front paw at the women she wanted to meet. She is a large (71 pounds) young Dutch Shepherd mix, 1 year of age, spayed girl, housetrained, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Some men, seemingly those wearing glasses, frighten her, and Arabella is also afraid of other dogs. She was at another shelter that asked for our help.  Her previous family reportedly surrendered her for being "too playful" and they were refusing to let her on the furniture. Arabella has tremendous potential in an experienced, gentle home where she can continue blooming.

Peyton had no interest in getting his picture taken this morning.  All he wanted to do was cuddle and get chest and throat rubs.  Peyton had been the victim of horrific violence (that included his ears being sliced off), but during his months of healing here he has improved wonderfully.  Peyton no longer dreads people, but instead longs to bond with them.  He is a large, 72-pound Mastiff mix, 1 year young, a neutered boy, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Peyton is housetrained & crate-trained and likes to play fetch.  He may be compatible with some dogs, but he needs an experienced, adult-only home for his continuing progress.

Minerva is making tremendous progress and she is now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA in the Lovebugs Room.  She is a very cute Abyssinian mix guinea pig, about 3 years of age.  Minerva reportedly lost her previous home for biting the children.  We don't know what she has endured, but realized her main issue has been lack of socialization.  Volunteers and staff are working with Minerva and she is now thriving.  We want to find her an experienced, adult-only home where she will continue improving to reach her full loving potential.

Marco is a jovial young Italian Mastiff ("Cane Corso") debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is 2 years of age and neutered. He loves people, but it appears he has never had training, because when he wants to kiss you he just leaps up all 90 pounds of his body and does so.  Marco is eager to please, so in a very experienced home with kind guidance we believe he will quickly pick up on good behaviors.  Another shelter asked for our help with him.  He had reportedly been roaming the Vegas streets without any sign of responsible ownership (and then his previous owner failed to reclaim him).
