Victor's Wonderful Update

Image
His new parents, Diqian & Josh, adopted Victor (a Yellow Labrador Retriever mix) before Christmas. He adores his new sister, sleeps in the same dog beds with her, and follows her around the house and yard to always be near her. They said Victor has begun wagging his tail too. This update is especially encouraging because Victor had such a long emotional journey. When we rescued him in 2016, he was extremely timid and insecure, and his previous ow ners were jailed for abusing him. Diqian & Josh gave Victor a new name for his new life. They call him Grant and he is in a forever home.

Bradford

Image
Bradford is beginning to enjoy people. His whole way of thinking seems to be changing and he's becoming more eager to accept kindness. Bradford is 1 of the 33 Whippet mixes rescued this spring from a cruel home. He is 3 years of age, now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Most of the 33 are either already up for adoption or have been adopted. There are several more who will be ready soon too based on their emotional progress and spay/neuter surgeries. 2-minute, uplifting video about Bradford and the healing of the 32 others rescued.

There is hope for me. I have potential.

Autumn is so afraid someone will scream at her, or strike her, that she cowers on the ground.  But she lets us pick her up and accepts our kindness.  We can only imagine what she has endured, yet she still wants to believe in people.  When Autumn sees another dog, her spirits lift and her tail begins to wag.  She loves other dogs and we would love to find her a home with a big sister dog or a big brother dog so she can reach her full loving potential.  Autumn is a very pretty, petite Bully mix, 2 years young, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA .  Please help us find Autumn a hero.

Diamond, a Yorkshire Terrier who deserves to be treasured.

Image
Diamond is a precious gem, now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Yorkshire Terrier, about 7 years of age, neutered, and great with other friendly dogs.  Diamond was found in Henderson a few miles south of The Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard in neglected, matted condition.  We traced his microchip ID to a previous owner, but she said she had given him away five years ago and had no further interest in him.  Diamond is now cleaned and groomed and ready for a fresh start with a responsible, stable person (or couple) who will cherish him as a valued member of their forever home.

I cry around men because they scare me.

Sinead is a sweetheart puppy, a German Shepherd mix, about 5 months of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She likes playing ball and cuddling. When a woman holds her close, Sinead will give her gentle kisses of gratitude for her kindness.  But when a man holds Sinead, she often cries and gets anxious.  Sinead was rescued from an abusive and neglectful home where she was reportedly doused with water when the man there got upset with her.  Sinead will learn she can trust men, but it will be an earned trust, and we ask for your help in finding her a hero for continued emotional recovery.

Darian -- before & after -- angelic puppy rescued during the extreme Vegas heatwave.

Image
Darian, July 10 Darian, just hours after his rescue It was one of the hottest days ever in Las Vegas, mid-afternoon, in the peak heat of the day.  A person noticed a small "ragged" dog panting heavily under a bush just outside a fast food restaurant. We got on the phone with the acting manager of the restaurant and pleaded with her to bring the dog inside until we could send someone.  She was very hesitant, worried the dog had rabies and bugs, but eventually agreed and put him in a box just inside the front door. A Nevada SPCA staff member retrieved him, gave him water and helped him cool and stabilize.  She then took him to a veterinary hospital for continuing care.  His ears and body were covered in ticks, leading the veterinary staff to speculate that he may have originally come from an area outside of southern Nevada. Now, several days later, Darian is groomed, neutered, and eating premium, probiotic dog food.  He can't believe all the attenti...

Wrangler, a young Bulldog overcoming a violent past.

Image
Wrangler's anxiety already indicates that he has endured pain and heartbreak and confusion.  But there are many other very troubling signs that his previous owner would have to answer for, if ever found, including numerous open bite wounds on his front legs and the sides of his face (not visible in this straight-on shot), some old, some new.  Further, he was found on the mean streets with no signs whatsoever of responsible ownership (no ID tag, no microchip ID, and not neutered).  Wrangler is now neutered, his wounds are beginning to heal, and he is ready for adoption into a responsible, stable home where he can expect love and comfort, and no more violence.  Wrangler is a large Bulldog, just under 1 year of age.

Help me forget the hate I have witnessed.

Bandit is a very intelligent, devoted young boy who enjoys playing fetch.  He is a stunningly attractive Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog), 3 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Bandit is good with other dogs and housetrained.  Bandit reportedly has witnessed domestic violence and he won't tolerate fighting that appears threatening.  He needs an experienced, stable, and kind home where horrific memories fade, instead of being triggered again and again by screaming and anger.
