Your loving touch and kind words mean everything to me.

Willy is an exceptionally gentle boy, an Australian Shepherd mix, 15 years of age, and blind, and he needs a hero. Willy was found alone on the streets by an animal control officer.  He was taken to another shelter that tracked his microchip ID to his owner.  But despite her repeated assurances she would reclaim him, four failed days passed, and Willy was becoming dangerously lethargic.  The shelter agreed to let Nevada SPCA rescue him and find him a hero.  He is now eating heartily and his spirits are brightening.  We believe his blindness is recent -- he is reluctant to walk out of fear he will get hurt.  At 15, we don't know how many days, weeks, months, or years Willy has left, but he deserves to have peace and comfort for every moment. Please share Willy's picture to help us place him in a loving home environment as promptly as possible.

I can't see you, so your soft touch and words mean the world to me.

Bella can't see you, but when you touch her and speak sweetly her face lights up and she shuffles close to you for cuddling.  She is eager to please and will even walk beside you on leash, gingerly, trusting that you will take caution to keep her from running into walls and other dangers.  If you have stairs or a pool, please be sure access is gated for her safety.  Bella is an affectionate Labrador Retriever, almost 9 years of age, a spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued her from another shelter.  Please help us find a hero for Bella .

Won't you be my hero?

Allison cannot see you, but she yearns to make a connection and understand you.  We love her serenity and affectionate nature.  Allison adores people and she gets along well with dogs too.  She is a petite, lovely Chihuahua, about 6-8 years of age, spayed girl, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is completely blind in both eyes, so please take extra special precautions to puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety.  We rescued Allison from another shelter.

"Would you please be my hero?"  Nani is a very loving and incredibly cute Japanese Chin debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Nani is about 5 years of age, a neutered boy, good with other dogs.  We rescued Nani from another shelter.  He is blind in both eyes.  Please take extra precautions to keep him away from stairways, swimming pools, and other places in your home and yard that could pose a danger to him.

Cuddle me and tell me that I can always count on you.

Benny cannot see you, so a gentle touch and soothing words means the world to him.  He is a great cuddler and craves the reassurance he gets from leaning against you.  Benny is a sweet Beagle, about 6 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada.  Benny is blind, so please take extra precautions puppy-proofing your home and helping him become familiar with your home and yard.  An experienced, adult home is needed.  We rescued Benny from another shelter.

I loved them unconditionally, but they decided I could just be someone else's "problem"?

Cody was at another shelter where he did not qualify for adoption because of blindness and bad teeth.  (His previous owners had dropped him off there when they moved away.) He is a very gentle, affable little guy, a Yorkshire Terrier, about 6 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Cody gets along well with other dogs and seems to adapt very quickly to new spaces, learning the lay-outs of the areas around him. We had dental cleaning done for Cody and he's now ready to find a loving, forever home. Please help us find Cody a hero so he is never failed again.

Maybe there is a hero for me?

Dexter has the enthusiasm and jazzy spirit of a puppy, but he is actually 10 years of age and completely blind. Dexter is a Jack Russell Terrier, neutered, housetrained, good with cats and dogs and kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Dexter relishes playing with other dogs and greets you warmly every time you return.  He gets around very well and confidently without his sight. Please help Dexter find someone special for his twilight years.

Your gentle touch and soft voice will comfort me.

An angel from heaven, Petunia is blind, 10-12 years old, and homeless.  But she trusts us to find her someone to cherish her every day she has left on Earth.  Volunteers took her to Pet'ographique yesterday and she held her head proudly high for her portrait, reacting well to soft voices and tender touches.  She is a wonderful cuddler and she has an ocean of unconditional devotion to share.   Petunia is a Miniature Schnauzer mix who needs a hero and we ask for your help so she can have can have someone special to love and adopt her.

I need a hero.

Shaq is a warm, noble older boy with a heart of gold. But he began getting temperamental as he was losing his sight and hearing, making him a bit unpredictable for a time. His adjustments are doing better now and he is less afraid of the changes happening to him.  He is mostly blind and deaf, but responds well to touch.  Staff, volunteers, volunteer trainers and veterinarians have all helped, and we feel he is now ready for adoption, provided that his progress can continue in his new home. Shaq is a small, handsome Chow Chow, neutered, about 10 years of age. He is compatible with most dogs and he is reportedly housetrained and fine with cats too.  Please plan on regular brushing and grooming.  An adult-only home is needed for him for the reasons stated above. Please ask for Shaq by name when you visit.

I am very loving and I do remarkably well in small spaces.

At the time of rescue L'Oreal was pregnant and out on the streets, in a hopeless situation made worse with her lack of sight. But thanks to loving foster care, she had her babies indoors, safely and in comfort. Now it is L'Oreal's turn to be adopted.  She is a mellow, beautiful smoke tabby, medium-hair, spayed, and about 3 years of age. Despite being mostly blind, she has never had a problem finding her food or litter box.   She does extremely well in quiet, small spaces and enjoys cuddling in your lap, so perhaps she can live primarily in a designated guest room or cozy part of your home. Please ask for L'Oreal by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.  She is one of 200 rescued, spayed/neutered cats there awaiting loving, forever homes.

Being blind does not stop me from being a loving companion.

Update: Ray was adopted on October 23rd! Ray is an enthusiastic little trooper. He is a Shih-Tzu, neutered male, about 8 years of age, debuting for adoption today. At the time of rescue he was near a busy intersection, in extreme danger of being struck by a vehicle.  It was evident he was blind and suffering from a very severe ear infection that had him tilting his head sideways. We had his ear infection treated and he recovered well.  While Ray gently bumps furniture and other obstacles as he learns new spaces, he needs you to speak to him before touching him.  Otherwise, he can get agitated and anxious, so an adult-only home is required. Ray seems to do best with other dogs around, or a person who can be with him most of the time, so he doesn't feel lost and disoriented.  If you have stairs or a pool at your home, they will need to be gated (baby-gate or other obstacle) for his safety and protection. Ray has tremendous loving potential.  Please ...

I love people and dogs who are nurturing.

Update: Mandy was adopted on September 25th! Besides a patient, tender new owner, Mandy would love to have a nurturing dog serve as a pseudo-guide dog for her. She is nearly blind due to cataracts in both eyes. She is all sweetheart, outgoing and affectionate. Mandy is a Toy Poodle, spayed female, about 10 years of age. She needed us when her previous owner became too ill to care for her. Mandy reportedly is housetrained and compatible with kind, mature children. Please plan on regular grooming care for her. We had her teeth cleaned and her hernia repaired. She is doing well now and debuts for adoption today.

Though I cannot see it, I know the world is an ever-more beautiful place.

Update: Lilly was adopted on September 9th! Lilly enjoys gently nibbling on your fingers. She has a come a very long way, transforming from a feral cat surviving on her own on the streets to a sweet, domesticated feline who has learned that humans can be kind. Lilly is a gorgeous Tortie Point Siamese, spayed female, about 6 years of age. She is available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's Cat Condos. She has a quiet, humble, affectionate nature. Lilly is blind in both eyes, so small spaces are best for her to feel content and secure. Please be patient with her, perhaps letting her start in a little room in your home so that she can easily find her food, water, litter box, and bedding, then allow her more home access as she gains confidence. As with all cats, it is imperative she lives strictly indoors for her safety and protection. If you have a tender touch, Lilly would love to go home with you. Please visit and ask for this angel by name. Special thanks to Pet'ographique f...

They say I am a magnificent work of art.

Update: Picasso was adopted on February 24th! Picasso is indeed a masterpiece in his own right. Blind, this gentle spirit requires extra precautions from his owner to keep him safe and protected in his home and yard. Picasso is a Shih-Tzu, neutered male, about 6-7 years of age. He enjoys other calm dogs. In fact, we believe another dog in the home will help guide him and assist with his adjustments to your lifestyle. Please also plan on regular grooming care for Picasso . Picasso needed us because his previous owner lost the family home to foreclosure. He debuts for adoption today. Please be his hero.

Be my hero and hold me close.

Update: Anna was adopted on August 10th! Anna has a very affectionate, quiet temperament. Her heart fills with joy when you shower her with loving attention. Anna especially needs a calm, stable home -- not just because she is a senior, but because she is blind. Despite her disability, she has impeccable litter box manners, and she has shown no problems finding her food and water bowls too. She loves to curl up on the sofa and wait for you to join her to unwind and enjoy peaceful time. Anna is available for adoption on Saturdays at Nevada SPCA. During the weekdays, she lives with a foster mom who provides wonderful care to her. She is a pretty tabby & white shorthair, spayed female, approximately 12 years of age. Please open your heart and home to Anna. You can ask to meet her on Saturday in Nevada SPCA's lobby. She needs a hero she can direct her enormous unconditional love to in exchange for a lifetime commitment to her joining your family.
