Candi

Image
Candi wants to know she is safe, accepted, cherished, and a valued member of a forever family. At the time of rescue, this young Maltese mix was found injured in a street from being run over by a car. Miraculously, she survived without life-threatening injuries.    After weeks of healing, Candi is now well and spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA . Candi is good with other dogs, but fearful of people. She lets gentle and soft-spoken people hold her, but quick movements around her head terrify her and she may scream. Her thundershirt (worn in this picture) seems to help Candi feel better at ease. She will likely thrive best in a home with a big sister or brother dog.    Please help us find her a lifelong hero.

Lucy

Image
Lucy , now healed so beautifully from being run over by a car, triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  This endearing youngster deeply appreciates every act of kindness.  Lucy is a blond Terrier & Toy mix, 2 years of age, good with other dogs and now spayed.  At the time of rescue she was found prone in a street with a severe head wound. Thank you to the donors who made her care and healing possible.

Missy

Image
Missy is a down-to-earth girl with majestic, leonine appearance and poise.  She is likely a Keeshond & Chow Chow mix, 7 years of age and spayed, and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA .  Missy may be good with other dogs and older children (unconfirmed). At the time of rescue she was at another shelter that asked for our help due to a large mass on one of her front legs. We provided for Missy's operation to remove it and she has healed very well.  Please come meet this beautiful soul.

Sharlene

Image
Sharlene loves people, dogs, toys, treats, and long playtime sessions.  She is a precious junior puppy, a Bully & Retriever mix, now healed and 6 months of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA . At the time of rescue Sharlene had been abandoned in a family's backyard and she was perilously ill with the parvo virus. We rushed her into an animal hospital for extensive care and the veterinarians saved her life. Thank you to the generous donors who made her lifesaving, advanced care possible!

Butch

Image
Butch , now well and lifting his head high with hope, eagerly awaits someone he can love and count on forever.    He is an adorable youngster, a blend of Chihuahua & Miniature Pinscher, 1 year of age, good with other dogs, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA . ** Caution to sensitive readers ** At the time of rescue Butch was found dying in a box that had been discarded in a park. He was suffering from parvo virus. We rushed him to an emergency animal hospital and it's veterinarians were able to save his life with extensive advanced care.    Thank you to the generous donors who made Butch's lifesaving treatment possible.

Lady

Image
Lady , relieved to be out of enormous pain, offers her gentle and unconditional love in exchange for a forever home.  She is a delightful Longhair Chihuahua & Toy mix, 7 years of age and spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Lady was at another shelter that asked for our help because her bladder was full of stones. We had surgery provided for her and she healed well. Thank you very much to the generous donors who made her advanced veterinary care possible.  ( Lady requires a special diet for life to diminish the risk of developing more stones.)

Thomasina

Image
Thomasina , now well and the sparkle back in her eyes, is ready to join a stable, indoor-only, loving forever family.  She is a beautiful soul, a shorthair torbie tabby, 1 year, spayed girl, triumphantly ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA .  At the time of rescue she was found perilously ill and dehydrated on the streets. Thank you to the donors who made her advanced veterinary care possible to save her life.

Bumble Bee

Image
Bumble Bee , 12, no longer suffers and looks to people with great hope and adoration.    She is a tiny girl, a Chihuahua, spayed, good with dogs and older kids, housetrained, and triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . Bumble Bee was left behind by her previous owners who moved away without her and left her in horrific condition. She had an eye ulcer, a hernia, extreme dental decay, and nostrils crusted shut. She is now healed and ready to love. During her dental care, 19 of her teeth had to be extracted. Surgery was also required to reopen her nostrils so she could begin breathing through her nose instead of just her mouth. Thank you very much to the donors for advanced veterinary care who made all of her important help possible. Please share Bumble Bee's picture to help her find a hero who will never fail or betray her.

Triumphant survival of Cora and Rosie!

Image
Cora Rosie Cora and Rosie are endearing baby girls who survived against all odds and triumphantly debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA! Both girls are affectionate, friendly, and playful. They are 7 months of age, good with other dogs, and now spayed. We suspect they are Aussie & Bully mixes and likely will remain medium in size. At the time of rescue we discovered the girls so ill they could not move in the backseat of a car and smeared with blood from parvo virus discharge. We encased them in blankets and rushed them to emergency care at a veterinary hospital. Now, almost 2 months later, they are thriving beautifully. Thank you to all of the donors who support advanced care and who make it possible to save the lives of Cora , Rosie , and others with severe challenges and hardships.

Doodlebug's triumphant recovery!

Image
Doodlebug's remarkable triumph over malnutrition and extreme neglect! This precious baby girl debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Doodlebug lays her head on your shoulder when you carry her in your arms. She has an angelic temperament and she is a Heinz 57 with Bully, now 4 months of age and spayed. On July 22, the day of her rescue from another shelter (picture 2), Doodlebug could not walk.  Click here for a 14-second video of her on that day.  Her front legs were weak and curled inward to such an extent she could not balance on them. We took her to an advanced veterinary care specialty center and the veterinarians there determined that the problem was not birth defects, but instead malnutrition and unconscionable confinement. (They suspect her previous owners had her in some type of enclosure where she was unable to walk.) They outlined a therapy and food plan for Doodlebug and hoped she could make a full recovery. ...

Giorgio

Image
Giorgio's right eye was terribly maimed by a firework. At the time of rescue he was in so much pain he didn't want us to touch him. We rushed him to an advanced care veterinary hospital and his eye had to be removed. Giorgio is a petite, 6-pound Pomeranian, 5 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA. He is good with other dogs and likes being held in gentle arms. Giorgio is gradually adjusting to life with one eye. He can get fussy if your hand comes near his face, but then gives you a doggie kiss because he doesn't intend any harm.

Blue Jay and Millie

Image
Blue Jay Millie Blue Jay and Millie are precious babies who both triumphed over life-threatening illness. Today, they debut for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Blue Jay and Millie are both 4 months of age and now spayed/neutered. They were rescued on different days from different homes, but each perilously ill with parvo virus at the time of their rescues.     Blue Jay is a Bully mix puppy, a boy, and Millie is a girl, a Bully & Labrador Retriever mix. Both are friendly with people and dogs. Thank you very much to the donors who made their emergency, lifesaving advanced veterinary care possible!

Owen

Image
Owen , a charming baby boy, now well, loves sitting in your lap and smothering your chin and cheeks with puppy kisses. He is an incredibly cute and social pup, a blend of Retriever and other breeds, expected to grow to large size, just under 6 months of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.   Owen enjoys playing with other dogs too. At the time of rescue Owen was found in peril with puppy strangles (juvenile cellulitis) and needed many weeks of veterinary care to save his life. Thank you to the generous donors who made Owen's rehabilitation possible!

Basil needs a hero.

Image
Basil lives in the moment with such thrill and zeal, reminding us how precious life is. Please share this post to help find a hero for this junior puppy who is challenged with birth defects. We are seeking either a special needs adoption or a long-term foster home until we can place him in a forever home. Basil , a wonderfully jovial junior puppy who loves to cuddle, is likely a blend of Boxer, Bulldog, and Bully, 10 months of age and neutered, and good with other dogs.    The reason he's wearing a denim-style diaper in this picture is because the birth defects affecting his hind legs and lower spine have resulted in incontinence. Advanced veterinary specialists have evaluated and cared for Basil and they are unsure whether his condition will remain steady or deteriorate. So every quality day means the world to Basil . He is currently in a temporary foster home, but needs to find a new one because another dog in the home is not a...

Physically, I'm well. Emotionally, I'm still recovering.

Image
Winston is an earnest junior puppy who cannot comprehend why the world has been so cruel.  But every day the more silly and fun side of his personality is emerging and we are so proud of his progress.  Winston was found abandoned in front of a large pet food store in Las Vegas, perilously ill with parvo virus.  We had emergency veterinary care provided for him (thanks to generous donors to our advanced care fund) and Winston has now made a full recovery!  He is a cream & white Chihuahua, 11 months of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety.

Junebug's valiant recovery from being caught in an escalator.

Image
Junebug's hind left foot with just one toe can be seen in the palm of her holder's hand (by his thumb). Junebug is a tiny, 4-pound angel who survived an enormous, horrifying trauma -- having her foot caught in an escalator -- and today she triumphantly debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. When we rescued Junebug last month at another shelter, her hind left foot was severely maimed.  We took her to a veterinary hospital for advanced care and they were able to save one of her four toes, thereby enabling her to keep her leg.  Junebug is still adjusting to the effects of the tragedy and can only walk on her hind leg for very short distances. Junebug loves to be held and reassured.  She is 2 years young, spayed, and good with other gentle dogs.  Please help us find her a hero for a most responsible and loving forever home, and a leisurely and tender lifestyle. [Note: Thank you very much to donors to Nevada SPCA's advanced veterinary care fund for making Ju...
