Sophie , a 152-pound angel, loves attention and she is blessed with a most amiable personality.    She is a Bloodhound, 7 years of age and spayed, housetrained, good with cats & dogs & kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .    Sophie's previous owner's disability challenges were the reason for her surrender. [Extra note: Her previous owner said Sophie likes to eat when other dogs are not around. Also, she kept a drool rag nearby in various parts of the house to help keep Sophie clean.]

Sophie may be 14 years of age, but admirably glows with innocence cheerfulness and enormous hope.  She is a lovely blend of Aussie Shepherd and Rottweiler, good with other dogs and terrific with people, spayed, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA .  Sophie was at another shelter that ran out of space. Sophie is a luminous junior puppy with such a wonderful, jovial spirit you cannot help but smile every time she is in your presence. Sophie is a Border Collie mix, 11 months of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA . She was found in peril running on a busy street. We traced and located Sophie's previous owner, who had "purchased" her as a "gift". She refused her. We want to find someone loving and responsible for Sophie who understands that adoption is forever and that animals are not gifts or toys, but instead are valued members of families. Sophie is a thoughtful young girl who worries that new people won't like her. When she realizes you have accepted her, she relaxes and loves being near you.  Sophie is a beautiful spirit, a Bull Terrier, 2 years young and spayed, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She appears to get along fine with some dogs, but we're still learning about her.  We rescued Sophie from another shelter. Her previous owner reportedly kept throwing her out on the streets to fend for herself, but she kept trying to return home because she had nowhere else to go.  Sophie deserves much better and needs to know what it's like to be treasured and cherished.

Sophie yearns for peace and serenity, except when it comes to catnip on her toys!  She will enjoy very much the quiet and calm moments at your side.  Sophie is a beautiful, leonine silver tabby medium-hair, 2 years young, previously declawed (front paws), spayed girl, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is fine with cats and dogs, but needs them to be gentle and respectful of her personal space.

Timmy Charlotte Ginger Sophie Timmy and his three sisters -- Charlotte , Ginger , and Sophie -- debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are tiny, lovable babies, Chihuahua puppies, now 3 months of age and spayed/neutered, and they enjoy other dogs. Please puppy-proof your home and yard carefully for their safety. Since their rescue as motherless newborns earlier this summer, they have been lovingly raised and socialized in a foster home.

Sophie is an elegant and graceful little lady debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is a Miniature Schnauzer, about 9 years of age, spayed, and reportedly housetrained and crate-trained, and compatible with cats & children & dogs.  Sophie craves attention and enjoys going for walks.  She needed us when her previous owners moved away without her.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this portrait that captures her spirit so beautifully.

Buxton & Sophie Buxton Sophie It's priceless to have a soul-mate in this beautiful, amazing, yet often cruel world. Buxton & Sophie are inseparable, and their bond has strengthened as they have tackled adversity they did not seek nor deserve.  For unknown reasons, they were surrendered to a local government-funded shelter, where they were in danger of being split apart, or worse.  That shelter asked Nevada SPCA to take them so they could remain together, and we readily agreed. Simply put, Buxton & Sophie are gentle, affectionate, marvelous dogs.  They are well-behaved, compatible with kind children, housetrained, and they radiate positive energy. Buxton is a boy, a Shepherd mix cuter than any Teddy Bear.  And Sophie is a girl, a Retriever mix, with lovely brindle coloring and mesmerizing eyes.  Both are spayed/neutered and about 5 years of age. Please visit and spend time with the pair in our adoption courtyard. Very special ...

Update: Sophie was adopted on December 24th! Sophie is a darling Brussels Griffon, still a puppy at 10 months of age, with a very sweet, humble nature. She lost her home just two days before Christmas because a homeowner's association threatened to fine her previous family for having too many dogs. Sophie is good with other dogs and reportedly housetrained and compatible with mature, kind children. Please plan on regular grooming care for her and carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection. Sophie is spayed and debuts for adoption today.  Please ask for her by name.

Update: Sophie was adopted on August 21st! Sophie is a humble, unassuming, mellow little lady debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She is a pretty Lhasa Apso, spayed, approximately 7 years of age. We rescued her from another shelter. Sophie enjoys kind people and gentle dogs, and she needs regular grooming and brushing care. We believe she will thrive best in a quiet home with a stable lifestyle routine where she can get lots of snuggling.

Update: Sophie was adopted on February 27th! We were asked by a local shelter to take Sophie and give her the tender loving care she needed so that she could recover from major trauma. The best guess (by us and the other shelter and her veterinarian) is that she was struck by a vehicle. Despite no broken bones, she had severe bruising across her legs and body. The most visible sign of the trauma she endured is in her left eye. She takes daily eye-drops and her eye is expected to recover, though this may take weeks, and she may not fully regain all sight in that eye (it is just too soon to tell). Sophie is a very sweet Chihuahua, spayed female, approximately 10 years of age. She loves to be held in your lap and adored. Sophie enjoys other calm dogs and a quieter lifestyle would suit her brilliantly. Sophie debuts for adoption today. Please open your heart to her, aiding in her progresses and recovery.

Update: Sophie was adopted on January 26th! Sophie is a precious young girl with a gentle spirit. She is a bit timid with new people and in new situations, but making some progress. A steady lifestyle routine in a quieter home will go far to helping her adjust and let her guard down. Sophie is a Yorkshire Terrier, spayed, about 2-3 years young. She debuts for adoption today. She needed us when her previous owner lost his job and could no longer care for her. Sophie enjoys other sweet dogs and she is reportedly fine with older, mature kids. Please plan on regular grooming care for her (so budget extra), and plenty of patience and good guidance to help her complete housetraining. (She is reportedly crate-trained, but not yet fully housetrained.) Addendum: Sophie reportedly has separation anxiety (perhaps due to losing so many homes). This can be diminished with time and patience and a steady lifestyle routine, but there are no instant fixes. Experienced home required.

Update: Sophie was adopted on December 26th! Cheery and noble, Sophie is a bright burst of sunshine. She is a gorgeous Golden Retriever, spayed female, about one year of age. Sophie is well-behaved too, reportedly housetrained and crate-trained, along with being compatible with children, cats, and dogs. She reportedly enjoys playing fetch and cuddling. Sophie needed us due to her previous owner's financial hardship. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Update: Sophie was adopted on October 24th! Sophie is a sensitive, tender-hearted young girl with soft, expressive eyes. She is a petite Beagle mix, spayed, about one year of age. Sophie is feeling in a bit better spirits lately, but she was overwhelmed with confusion and disappointment at the time of rescue. Her owners dishonorably dumped her by deceiving a boarding kennel into taking her for the night, then they failed to ever return. We made room for her at Nevada SPCA since she had nowhere to go. Sophie is good with other dogs. Unfortunately, we know almost nothing about her past, except that she never deserved to be thrown away. Sophie debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
