Heathcliff loves to nurture other big dogs. He envelops them with his arms in a giant hug and licks their faces and necks to soothe them. Other dogs mean the world to Heathcliff . His experiences with humans have included fear and violence. He was at another shelter this spring that asked for our help because he was so afraid of people. Now, four months later, thanks to the dedication of staff and volunteers, Heathcliff realizes people can be kind. He desperately wants to know that you are happy with him.    Heathcliff is a Rottweiler & Shepherd mix, 4 years of age and neutered, triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Alamo is a charming youngster and your happiness is very important to him. He wants everyone around him to be as joyful as he is.  Alamo is a medium-size, handsome blend of Kelpie and Shepherd, 18 months of age, neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  He was at another shelter that asked for our help. Alamo is fearful of some men, especially if they are loud and boisterous around women he is bonding with.

Lynnette yearns to feel accepted and appreciated.  She is very bashful, and anxious around strangers, but enjoys kind and gentle people who praise her.  Lynnette is 2 years young, a beautiful blend of Shepherd & Ridgeback, spayed, housetrained & crate-trained, good with mature kids and large dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Rosie, January, 2017 Rosie, September, 2016 Rosie and babies, October, 2016 Rosie and babies, October, 2016 Rosie is a quiet-natured girl who completely devotes herself to those she adores. She enjoys resting at your feet and guarding the bathroom door door while you bathe and shower. Many of you may remember Rosie from early autumn after we rescued her, pregnant, from another shelter. Rosie was placed in an exceptional foster home where she birthed and raised her babies. (Her puppies will be spayed/neutered and ready for adoption later this month.) Rosie is a red-gold blend of many breeds (Retriever, Ridgeback, Shepherd), 1 year of age, great with other dogs, housetrained, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA .

Kahuna wiggles in joy when meeting happy new people.  He is a fun-loving junior puppy, 11 months of age, a handsome blend of Hound & Shepherd, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Kahuna is housetrained & crate-trained and good with dogs and kids.  He needed us due to a landlord-tenant dispute with his previous family.

Jewels , a sparkling treasure, hopes you will let her bless you with her unconditional devotion.    She is a beautiful spirit, a well-behaved Heinz 57 with Shepherd (and possibly Rottweiler), 7 years of age and spayed, housetrained & crate-trained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Jewels is great with cats, dogs, and kids. She needed us when her previous owner became homeless.

Jax is thrilled to have you join him for games with tennis balls, or walks or runs, or anything else fun and sporty.  He is a good-looking Hound & Shepherd mix, 1 year young, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Jax is housetrained, crate-trained, and good with dogs and kids.  He needed us for no fault of his own (when his previous owner decided to downsize).  An active lifestyle routine is ideal for Jax and we hope you come meet him!

Debbie, March 29 Debbie, March 29 Debbie, January 15 Lilly, Debbie's mother Debbie was very bashful for her two pictures this morning. (She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.)    The third picture is of Debbie at the time of her rescue on January 15. The fourth picture is of her mother, Lilly. You may recall Lilly and her 9 babies were rescued from a man threatening to shoot them. All survived, and thrived, thanks to wonderful foster care. Debbie is now almost 4 months of age, spayed, loving with people and playful with other dogs. She is shy and needs time to warm to new people. Some of Debbie's siblings have already been adopted, while others will be ready for adoption soon (unless adopted by their foster parents). Lilly will soon be spayed and ready for adoption too. Patrick worries that people don't like him. He carefully studies new people for signs and doesn't feel worthy of love. Patrick is magnificent, but does not yet know it.    Each day he seems to build a bit more self-esteem and confidence. Compliment him with reassurances and praise and he hangs on to your words to feel better. Patrick is a handsome, red-gold Retriever & Shepherd mix, 2 years young, good with other large dogs, now neutered and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA.    We rescued him in the nick of time from another shelter.    Please visit and ask for Patrick by name.

Sheila & Samantha are great with children of all ages. These young girls are also housetrained and compatible with other friendly dogs.    They are bonded for life, together forever, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Sheila is 3 years of age and spayed, a gorgeous Husky & Shepherd mix. Samantha is a medium-size Labrador Retriever mix, 1 year of age and spayed.    The girls needed us because of their previous owners' financial hardship.

Golden Max is a sensitive, affectionate, and stunningly handsome puppy now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.   He is a Retriever & Shepherd mix, 8 months young, neutered, and reportedly housetrained and crate-trained.  Golden Max seems to have lost his previous home due to his broken heart. He was reportedly very attached to a small dog who passed away a few weeks ago. Gold en Max then became very depressed and moody mourning his companion.  We strongly prefer placing Golden Max in a home with at least one other dog. Golden Max is reportedly compatible with cats too.  We believe it is best to keep him away from young children until his emotional healing is complete.  Please help us find him a wonderful, loving, forever home.

Shadow is a cheerful and exceptionally good-natured senior full of optimism and joy.  He enjoys children, dogs, and cats, plus he is housetrained and crate-trained too.  Shadow loves toys that look like turtles.  He is a medium-size Shepherd & Retriever mix, 12 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Along with his eternal gratitude, there are rich emotional rewards that can come with adopting senior animals, who have just as much unconditional devotion to share with you as a puppy.

Size differences don't matter when it comes to souls. These two girls, Molly & Shelby , are bonded for life and gently whine if the other leaves their eyesight. Both girls are exceptionally sweet, yet initially shy, spayed, and about 7-8 years of age.  Molly is a medium-size Shepherd and Retriever mix, while Shelby is a Longhair Chihuahua mix. There is so much to love about Teddy .  He is playful, smart, and inquisitive, and when you talk with him he looks at you earnestly so that he can try to understand every word.  Teddy is a young Shepherd & Retriever mix with gorgeous golden brown coloring, neutered, 1 year of age, good with cats and dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Teddy is understandably nervous about cars.  He was witnessed being thrown from a moving car in front of a business.  We will loan his adopter a crate so he can be taken home safely and comfortably.

Roo yearns for love and, though shy, she gives her whole heart to those she trusts. She is a beautiful Shepherd mix, spayed girl, about 3 years of age. An officer found her after she had been struck by a vehicle.  Worried that bones were broken or that she had internal injuries, she was rushed to a veterinary hospital for tests.  Miraculously, after extensive monitoring, her injuries were only minor (abrasions and bruising). Today, she valiantly debuts for adoption! Roo's personality shines.  Please visit and get to know her.

At the time of rescue Dakota Dan was emaciated, in a state of starvation indicating weeks, perhaps months, of extreme neglect and food deprivation. But now the spark is back in his eyes and he has a new spring in his step! This fun-loving boy is overwhelmed with joy now that he feels good again, thanks to loving care. Dakota Dan is a handsome Shepherd mix (perhaps Dutch Shepherd mix), neutered, about 5 years of age, debuting triumphantly today for adoption. He is great with other dogs and he is reportedly fine with children.  We recommend basic dog obedience training to help him channel his energy into good behavior. Please cherish Dakota Dan every day and protect him from ever having to go hungry again.

Super lovable and cheery, Maddy is a dream dog in so many ways. We admire her innocent joy and Lassie-like smile. Maddy is a lovely Shepherd mix debuting today for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  She is a spayed girl, approximately 7 years of age.  She is reportedly housetrained.  Maddie is all about people.  Here, she has been fine with neutered male dogs her size, but she was surrendered due to being picky about which dogs she tolerates. We hope you consider her and spend time with her in our adoption courtyard, letting her personality shine.

Update: Fred was adopted on December 13th! Fred is confused and distraught over losing his home when his previous owners divorced. But he is a sweet, gentle boy and we are doing all we can to ease his despair and give him hope. Fred is a senior, about 9 or 10 years of age, a medium-size Shepherd mix, neutered male, debuting for adoption today. He is compatible with cats and kind children.  He is also reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door). Strange men make him nervous, as do boisterous or intense dogs reportedly due to previous dog attacks that terrorized him. Fred needs someone who understands and empathizes with what he is going through.  With patience, he will come to realize that a good life can begin anew.

Teddy is a calm, loving boy with soulful eyes. He likes going for walks, playing with a wide variety of toys, and cuddling with you. Teddy is a handsome Shepherd mix, full of warmth and goodwill.  He is neutered, about 6 years of age, and reportedly housetrained and good with dogs and mature kids. He needed us due to his previous owner's financial hardship. Teddy was diagnosed with arthritis in his hips and he does not like them being touched.  Glucosamine seems to be helping, so we recommend consulting with your veterinarian about keeping him on this. Teddy would love to meet you.  Please ask for him by name when you visit.

Update: Xica was adopted on December 4th! This well-behaved, endearing girl reminds us of Baloo, the heroic blue bear featured in Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book". Xica has a Teddy Bear-like personality.  She is engaging and chatty, full of enthusiasm and joy. She is a Shepherd mix with distinguished blue coloring.  She is spayed, about 4 years of age, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Like Elgin, Xica is one of the eight dogs we rescued on Thanksgiving Eve from a government shelter.  She was reportedly surrendered there when her previous owner lost the family home to foreclosure. Besides being good with dogs, Xica reportedly is housetrained and enjoys children.
