Bonnie Angel Jazz Kenny Shelby Bonnie and four of her six babies -- Angel , Jazz , Kenny , and Shelby -- are now spayed/neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. ( Bonnie's two other puppies will be ready for adoption in the days to come.) Bonnie , a tiny and adorable Chihuahua, is 4 years of age and only weighs 6 pounds. She likes sneaking doggie kisses on gentle people who praise her. Her babies, all affectionate and playful, are almost 4 months of age. Angel , her daughter, walks on three legs due to a missing front right paw (birth defect). Mom and babies can be adopted individually, but please strongly consider adopting a pair for lifetime love and companionship. They needed us due to their previous owners' financial hardship.

Joyce and her daughter, Leslie, are happy to share the news about Shelby's tremendous progress in his forever home!  You may remember Shelby , a longtime and very beloved resident at Nevada SPCA, working to overcome lingering memories of abuse.  The first two pictures are of Shelby at Nevada SPCA.  His sister is Ginger, a Chow Chow, and they love going for car rides and plead for stops at fast food windows.  Shelby's daily morning routine includes long trail walks and swimming in the river.  Shelby's joy is a testament to the can-do attitude of his new family and the countless hours of dedication from volunteers helping him believe in people again.

Every experience is better with my soul-mate.

Size differences don't matter when it comes to souls. These two girls, Molly & Shelby , are bonded for life and gently whine if the other leaves their eyesight. Both girls are exceptionally sweet, yet initially shy, spayed, and about 7-8 years of age.  Molly is a medium-size Shepherd and Retriever mix, while Shelby is a Longhair Chihuahua mix. Molly & Shelby debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please help us find them a wonderful, loving, forever home.

I want a brother or sister who will snuggle with me.

Update: Shelby was adopted on October 9th! Petite, adorable Shelby is a sweet little heartbreaker. She has a tender soul and responds best to soft-spoken, gentle people. Shelby is a Yorkshire Terrier & Chihuahua mix, spayed female, just a year of age, and she debuts for adoption today. We rescued her from her previous owner who was having severe medical problems. One of our staff fostered Shelby at her home for a week and this helped us learn more about her emotional needs. Shelby enjoyed curling up tight in her doggie bed, entwined with another cuddly dog to help her feel warm and secure. Please plan on regular brushing and grooming for Shelby . When you visit, ask for this lovebug by name please.

I can share a lifetime of devotion and fun with you.

Update: Shelby was adopted on July 26th! Shelby is ready to steal your heart. She is an enthusiastic puppy, playful and outgoing. Shelby is a Shepherd mix, expected to grow to medium or large size. She is spayed, 3-4 months of age, and debuting for adoption today. Please carefully puppy-proof your home for her safety and protection. Shelby is wonderful with people and other friendly dogs. She needed us because her previous owner thought she had "too much energy". Please only consider her if you are willing and able to take on the challenges presented by puppies. They need good guidance to grow and become well-balanced adults.

A label could have killed me.

Update: Shelby was adopted on August 6th! It is common for us to get reports on surrendered and rescued dogs that do not at all match our experiences with the dogs. Our policy is to disclose any and all negative information, even when we believe it is wrong. Shelby is a very sweet Beagle mix puppy, approximately 10 months of age. She was surrendered to us by her owner who said she bites. The vicious label stumped us. From day one she was licking our faces and jumping on us for hugs. We thought there must be some mistake because Shelby does not seem to have a vicious bone in her body. We are very confident that her heart is full of love. But it is important to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention, so Shelby does require an experienced home and there should be no young children in the home. Thankfully, Shelby came to us. It's heartbreaking to consider the huge number of dogs and cats euthanized each year at other shelters due to mistaken information (for instance, ...
