(She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.)    The third picture is of Debbie at the time of her rescue on January 15. The fourth picture is of her mother, Lilly. You may recall Lilly and her 9 babies were rescued from a man threatening to shoot them. All survived, and thrived, thanks to wonderful foster care. Debbie is now almost 4 months of age, spayed, loving with people and playful with other dogs. She is shy and needs time to warm to new people. Some of Debbie's siblings have already been adopted, while others will be ready for adoption soon (unless adopted by their foster parents). Lilly will soon be spayed and ready for adoption too. O'Dell , a glowing and joyful junior puppy, debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is eager to love and find his place in the world. O'Dell is good with cats, dogs, and mature kids.    He is a cute blend of many breeds (likely including Chow Chow, Husky, and Shar Pei), 7 months of age and neutered.    O'Dell loves to chat (through moans and grunts, not barks) and he is particular about how he likes things and may tell you all about it.    He needed us due to his previous owner's allergy to him.

Abbott Costello Abbot and Costello are incredibly cute and playful Shar Pei puppies debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  The brothers are now 5 months of age and neutered.  At the time of rescue they were surrendered with severe rashes and hair loss, but this turned out to be only food allergies, which is very common in dogs.  The boys are now on a special diet (fish) and their skin and coats are already recovering beautifully.  Please be sure to puppy-proof your home(s) for their safety and protection.  Shar Pei knowledge is preferred for their adoptions.

Rocky cannot understand how he suddenly became homeless, or why his previous owner needed sudden and unexpected long-term hospitalization. But despite his confusion, he is very agreeable and eager to please.  He looks at us with his pleading eyes, trusting that we can ensure a safe, loving home for him. Rocky is a medium-size blend of Shar Pei and Yellow Labrador Retriever.  He is about 7 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is cuddly and good-natured.  Please ask for Rocky by name when you visit.

Update: Alma was adopted on January 28th! Alma is a warm-hearted girl with those she trusts and she has tremendous loving potential. But she is wary of strangers and confused by the series of events that landed her here, making a medical recovery. At the time of rescue, Alma was out on the streets.  She had been struck by a vehicle near a large casino hotel just off of The Strip and had multiple injuries, including a severely dislocated back hip that required surgical repair.  We had her fully tended to, including the hip surgery, and she has been healing very well. Today, Alma triumphantly debuts for adoption.  She is a gorgeous Shar Pei, spayed, about 18 months young.  We are dazzled by her expressive eyes and petite ears which fold frontwards and gently pat over her head. Update: Ace was adopted on November 29th! We love Ace's magnificent smile. Wouldn't you look forward to coming home every day to see his heartfelt, bright eyes waiting at the door to welcome you back? Ace is a handsome blend of Rottweiler and Shar Pei.  He is neutered, about 4 years of age, and ready for adoption today. We rescued him from another shelter, so we have very little background information on him.  But it's clear he cherishes people. Ace may do best with some basic dog training.  He pulls when walking on the leash, seemingly unaware of his size and strength.

Conner has the most beautiful soul. But most visitors seem too concerned about his senior age (12 years) to ask to meet him. We think this is big mistake. Conner has an ocean full of unconditional love and he would love to share it with someone special during his twilight years . Conner's past is mostly a mystery. We rescued him from another shelter. He had been surrendered there for euthanasia, yet the only medical condition he faced was arthritis. He is a handsome Yellow Labrador & Shar Pei mix, neutered, easy-going, and jolly. Seniors like Conner have so much to offer, the rewards profound on many levels. He humbly asks for your consideration for adoption today.

Update: Rowdy Roddy was adopted on August 17th! Rowdy Roddy is a bright, eager youngster who radiates good cheer. He loves being the center of attention, earning your adoration with 'shaking paws' and tons of affection. He even enjoys going swimming in the pool. Rowdy Roddy is an exceptionally handsome Shar-Pei mix with unique coloring (almost brown & violet) and light gold eyes. He is neutered, 2 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. He needed us when the landlord kicked him out. Rowdy Roddy is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with kind children and some other dogs. Please visit and ask for this sweetheart by name.

Update: Tequila was adopted on June 12th! This puppy has irresistible charm. Tequila is a bubbly girl who loves giving kisses. She is an adorable apricot Shar Pei, spayed, about 9 months young. Besides being compatible with other sweet dogs, she is reportedly good with kind children and housetrained too. Tequila needed us because her previous owner would not or could not provide the medical care necessary for her eyes. Tequila had entropia in both eyes, whereby her eyelashes grew inwards. We had surgeries done for her in both eyes. While the surgeries were successful, later in life sometimes follow-up surgeries are needed for entropia, so please only consider Tequila if you believe you can afford to provide for her as necessary in the years to come. Shar Pei knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption. Tequila debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Update: Cookie was adopted on November 16th! After noticing her super cute front-folding ears and expressive wrinkles, the next most eye-catching physical features on Cookie are her long, dragging mammary glands. They are the unfortunate result of numerous breedings of this sweet girl, who is only 4 years of age herself. She was rescued near the Grand Canyon, along with Chester, an Australian Shepherd mix who also debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. A boarding facility near the park protected Cookie , Chester, and a few other dogs until we could make room for them. Cookie is a small Shar-Pei mix, approximately only 25-30 pounds. She is now spayed and about 4 years of age. Cookie adores other dogs and finds great comfort in their company. We feel strongly that she needs to be adopted with Chester or to a family who has another dog. She has a jolly temperament and she is as lovable as can be. We honor the very strong bonds adult animals make with one another and require them to be adopted together (when splitting them up could cause emotional trauma or severe depression). Annie & Mushu are not just sister and brother, but they are also soul-mates. These two attractive Shar-Peis prefer to always be touching and they sleep curled up together. If out of each others' eyesight, even for a minute, they will cry and show distress. Annie & Mushu are well-behaved, housetrained, and kennel-trained. They are approximately 2 years of age. They are wary of strangers, but once they trust you both are very loving and may even try to crawl in your lap to get close for affection. Therefore, a quieter home with a stable routine is probably the best fit for them, plus an owner who is knowledgeable about Shar-Peis. Update: Hoku was adopted on July 11th! The most harmful myth is that rescue and shelter animals are somehow "defective" or "trouble-prone" or "second-hand" animals. The truth is the vast majority of rescue and shelter animals lose their homes due to no fault of their own. They do not deserve to be homeless or rejected. Hoku illustrates this point perfectly. She loves children of all ages. She is good with other dogs and she is housetrained. Her temperament is gentle and sweet, plus she is loyal and devoted to those she loves. Hoku is a Shar Pei, spayed female, approximately 7-8 years of age. She thoroughly enjoys walks and going to parks. By all accounts, she is a terrific girl with an angelic soul. So why did she lose her home? The answer simply is she did not do anything to cause her to lose her home.
